The Mandalorian - Season 3: Complete Edition | A brand-new Season 3 forged from The Mandalorian and BoBF [ON HOLD]

Okay, I think I came up with a decent solution to the R5 issue in Chapter 17.

Basically, Din would get R5 at the same time as the N-1, as losthead suggested, but not for the purpose of spelunking (since Din has no plans to go to Mandalore yet); instead, Peli insists that an astromech is an essential part of a starfighter like the N-1, and Din reluctantly accepts since he just needs a ship.

Things play out similarly from there: Din goes to Kalevala, decides to go to the Living Waters, then goes to Nevarro to hopefully rebuild IG-11 to use for spelunking. However, instead of Din being told to go find a IG memory circuit, Din is told how it’s basically impossible to get a new IG memory circuit and the project ends there.

Din then leaves Nevarro and decides that he has no other option except R5, and chooses him for the job (albeit with low expectations).

I feel like this not only helps streamline things but also makes Din’s “trusting droids” arc in this season a bit stronger. Now, Din’s decision to have R5 be his spelunker is something he chooses based on his circumstances, instead of being convinced to by Peli. He makes the connection between R5 and spelunking himself, since before that he basically understood R5 as simply a component of the N-1. Having it be Din’s own choice also rewards him even more since he benefits from putting trust in a droid—as he perceives it, a very risky bet—ultimately strengthening his trust in droids.

Would love to hear y’all’s thoughts on this!

I like this idea, especially if it places the R5 content closer to his action in the finale during the overall season arc. As long as you can make it as seamless as possible, avoiding any returns to Tattooine is a plus.

THE MANDOVERSE (The Mandalorian Season 1 to 3 & The Book of Boba Fett) | 10 Feature-Length Chapters
Time

Wow, I love this edit. Chapters one, four, and seven in particular are amazing. I love the pacing and the way it hits the story beats in a way that doesn’t drag on but keeps the dramatic moments intact. My main issue is in chapter three, the flashbacks for how Cobb Vanth got his armor are very jarring since we don’t stay with the character for that long. I would rather watch an abridged Krayt dragon fight than a guy monologuing on a speeder about how he got his armor. If you could somehow keep the important dialogue and move it to their discussion in the bar without actually showing the flashbacks maybe that would improve it? It’s just a very odd change in focus on a new character. The way you get around the spider egg arc is super smooth though.

(The Mandalorian+BoBF) The Way of Mandalore | A New Mandalore Movie Saga (Final Update in Progress)
Time

I watched your first chapter and it’s overall my favorite feature-length ‘first’ Mandalorian film in terms of overall story and visuals. Just a few suggestions:

 1. Love that you kept the opening bounty scene for characterization, but it could be further trimmed. Just cut from them walking to the razorcrest to the ship flying away, and then show Mando freezing him in carbonite and pan out to show all of the frozen bounties - this shows how successful and no-nonsense he is and tees up the offloading scene nicely.
 2. Trim down the Jawa + repairs sequence even more if you could. It gets a little slow in the second act.
 3. I agree that you need a third act after moving the wetlands to film two (the final sequence where they leave Nevaro is the best ‘film one’ ending beat in my opinion, so good idea). But the stakes of the prisoners arc are way too low and we don’t really get the sense that Mando is worried about Grogu if he’s willing to literally leave him in the hands of imperials on the planet. The idea that his interaction with the covert and memories of his own situation as a foundling increase the urgency of the rescue makes more sense. Also, Pershing shouldn’t have access to Grogu for more than a day or so, otherwise they would have the blood they need and Gideon would have no reason to recover him in season 2. I suggest that you have the prisoners episode happen on the way back from Arvala-7 to Navaro. It would still achieve the goal of making it clear that Mando is fed up with bounty hunting, but the catharsis at the end of the arc would be that he gets to go back to Grogu and reckon more with his decision to turn Grogu in.
