R2D2: Unless you're asking for Star Wars stuff, that's not only against Usenet rules and/or etiquette (especially to satisfy 1 person), but it would also be unfair to people who are looking just for SW material. If you can't find what you're looking for online, there's a couple people here who can fill your specific requests by sending you discs via snail mail, usually for the cost of just postage or a very small donation, or through trading.

You could never recreate a good scene with an actor speaking lines in a part 26 (actually more) years after the scene was compeleted.

Why not? I've seen it done seamlessly, such as with the new cut of "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly", for example.

The only stumbling block left is getting a decent impersonation of McDiarmid saying "Luke"

Maybe he says it in one of the DVD Special Features (either from the prequels or the 2004 DVDs), or his narration from the Musical Journey DVD. You'd might have to "rough up" McDiarmid's voice to sound like Palpatine's if you can find it.

ETA: The vanilla Bittorrent client may not be the best. The clients mentioned above (Azureus and µTorrent) seem to be well regarded.

Have you tried µTorrent trip42? It's a bit more streamlined, and minus the Java problems that Azureus can cause.

boba feta, I was just wondering if you'll be updating the cover (or at least the back) for ADM's ROTJ to match the updates for v2? Gotta use up some more ink, y'know.

Also, I just got a 20-pack of dual-layer DVD+Rs, so if anyone's interested, PM me. I'm also looking for the DL versions of ADM's ROTS and ESB if anyone's got 'em.

Is DVD Decrypter using Nero to burn? I always make sure, no matter what program I use, that it verifies the burn. If you're going from the directory (with VOBs) to an image file, you might want to try Imgburn. It's from the same guy who made DVD Decrypter, but he was forced to shut it down, so he's working on ImgBurn instead.

HBO is notorious for non-OAR presentations, although it appears that the studios provide them the films that way. All the presentations of AOTC I've seen on HBO have been 1.78:1, not 2.35:1. Showtime, however, is consistently OAR.

I have three words for you, and I hate to curse in in all caps with multiple exclamation points, but even a veteran of the intarwebs is occasionally reduced to such base emotion.

No, really, you do. This has got be, by far, my favorite fan edit of all time. You see, I'm a A/V geek, so not only did your edits have to help the story, they had to look and sound good on an HDTV, upscaled to 2x DVD resolution via HTPC, and go through a decent "mid-level" (in the A/V world, that's ~$2000) 7.1 sound system. After reading your description(s), I was wary of all these entries talking about "painting" this in, or "removing" that, or "remixing" such and such a line. Not that I wasn't excited to see what you guys had done story-wise, but I had a hard time believing that I wouldn't be distracted and annoyed by the technical work. Surely, some guys couldn't just do that, it had to be some kind of hack job that you might not notice on a 20" analog TV with some RCA home-theater-in-a-box (aka HTIB). What, you're going to remove an entire goddamn robot and such, and it won't look bad? Pfft. Garcon, please remove this rubbish from my plate, these edits must be so common.

Yet, you humbled me. Knocked me off my high horse, brought my nose down from the clouds, whatever. My elitist bubble was burst, because this shit is well nigh flawless. Sure, there might be a slight flaw here or there, but I'll be damned if I couldn't tell if it was you or ILM (who, by the way, should hire you right now, as in yesterday) without a list in front of me. I've probably got a million more things to say, but I don't really want to sound like some gibbering fool, although it might be too late for that. I will say that I've enjoyed the prequel edits that ADigitalMan has put together immensely, so much so that I believe that the edits of all six movies, and probably Clone Wars, will be the only SW I watch until the HD versions (hopefully Blu-Ray) come out. This edit, however, takes the cake. Bravo, fellas, bravo.

Patrick/MeBeJedi: I have the Mitsubishi clone of the 704, but unless you're within easy driving distance of DC, I'm afraid I won't be much help. Now, if you could find someone who has an HLD-X9 or -X0, that would be sublime. Supposedly they're the nearest thing to watching an LD at DVD quality. Someone with an Elite CLD-99 or -97 would be a lot easier to find.
