Is MySpleen down?
Time

Hi TV’s Frink,

I don’t think that you’re in charge of Myspleen.
And I don’t think that you’re in charge of OT, be reassured 😃

It is common, when a tracker that doesn’t have another communication way (such as Twitter or Facebook) is down, that users ask on other forums if someone has some news.

Since OT has a pinned topic about Myspleen, and since most of OT’s members upload their work on MySpleen, I find it legitimate to post the question here, especially in the category “off topic”. Or, what else is the category “off topic”?

Is MySpleen down?
Time

Hello,

I cannot access MySpleen for a couple of hours (I get an “error 500” message). Is it just me ? Does someone have some infos ?

Thank you!

Mod Edit: Myspleen’s own forums is a good place to alert the site admin / moderation / IT people over there as to any technical issues - or also for more information such as password resets, forgotten passwords, account details, & other account queries:-

Please, nobody get any funny ideas and write Disney/Lucasfilm as if you’re a spokesperson for this site. In fact, don’t mention us at all.

Did I present myself as a a spokesperson for this site, or did I say that I will write to Disney? I just gave my opinion (“IMHO”) in a forum (which is the best place to share opinionS, isn’t it ?).
No need to be rude please.

A dilemma indeed, but for most I believe easy access to the digital copy (mkv, mp4, etc.) would be good enough for most people, but the people who want a proper custom box set is the tricky part.

Well, if Disney officially published the blu-ray of the original trilogy, with a beautiful packaging, the problem would be solved!
IMHO, if we let these ebayers (like this “LDSEntertainment”) sell the original trilogy at such a price, it will put a little more pressure on Disney and Lucasfilm to release it officially.

The only thing we can do is advise Disney/Lucasfim, and let them solve this issue (which is as much their issue as ours).

THE PHANTOM MENACE - THEATRICAL HD Topper's Version

Hi,

I have found a HD 1080i50 recording from digital TV (no capture!) back from 2006, English (Stereo, 448 kBit/s) and German (5.1, 448 kBit/s) AC3 tracks. Overall bitrate is at around 18 MBit/s, filesize by coincidence also around 18 GByte/s.
But the quality, like mentioned, is really awful: There is a lot of noise in bright areas, and the overall sharpness is bad.
Anyone still interested in? 😉
I have also recordings of all other SW movies, but I think that those are all SEs and thus not really useful anymore. If they still are, please also leave me a note.

Hi JK1974,

I’m currently working on a reconstruction of the theatrical version of TPM based on several TV broadcasts and LaserDisc rips, but all are in SD.
So I’m DEEPLY interested in your HD1080i50 recording!

Thank you so much!

If you need proof, let me know, I have it on my UPC DVR. 😉
Beginning with the night before the race all the way to the end.

Unfortunately there is no way to get it off the DVR’s HD without breaking the warranty seal (it’s a rental only deal) and everything on it is encoded in HDCP.

There are HDMI splitters that filter HDCP and will allow recording.  Most people have used them to record PS3’s, but this is about the most perfect example of a time when these would be useful.

Here’s an example of one:  here

You would of course need an HDMI capture card as well.

Hi StarmanSkywalker,

Did you eventually achieve to save your HDTV rip out of your UPC DVR? Schorman13’s trick seemed to be a good idea.
Otherwise, could you please post some screen captures as you proposed a few years ago ?

Thank you very much!

After this, will you move on to ROPUT (Rise of the Prequel Unaltered Trilogy).

Ep 1: laserdisc
Ep 2: Centropy bootleg
Ep 3: screener

And perhaps you should release Star Wars first, that way you can get any feedback before encoding/ releasing ESB/RotJ

Tempting, very tempting. Only time will tell – I would love to at least preserve TPM though!

Good idea, I’ll start with ANH first, paired with the '93 LD audio in LPCM.

I would love it if you could do a preservation of the Phantom Menace laser disc.

I’m currently working on a preservation of TPM Laserdisc, based on several LD sources (Althor, Andrea, AngrySvn) and PAL DVB broadcasts (Canal + Scandinavia, ORF Eins) found on MySpleen and Usenet. First results are very encouraging, I hope I’ll be able to upload something in the next few weeks.
