HALLOWEEN: The Shape & The Shape Returns (H1-H4 edits)
Time

We’re back! And our Halloween edits:

THE SHAPE: A combo of H1 (1978) and H2 (1981). It has re-scores from the Halloween soundtrack from 2018 & H:Kills (2021). But to make it even darker and more gruesome, Maniac used new sound effects and Tyler Bates’s music from the Rob Zombie movies. The atmosphere is heavier and more sickening now. The pace is tighter and a lot of bad stuff from H2 has been removed, And Myers’s eyes are blackened out! H1-H2 has been done many times before by countless editors, but this is something special 😉.

Edited Maniac

THE SHAPE RETURNS: A streamlined and re-scored edit of Halloween 4 - The Return of Michael Myers (1988). It contains H1-H2 flashbacks to make a better connection with the first films and let the story come full circle at the end. Plus new Loomis’s monologes.
• Michael Myers’s actions and presence are more suspenseful and sometimes done off-screen (limited shots of his poorly made mask and visible shoulder pads under his costume).
• Cut a number of obnoxious scenes or lines and fix some errors.
• Change the aspect ratio to 2.35:1 (in the vibe of H1-H2).
• New sound effects; new music by John Carpenter from David Gordon Green’s 2018-2022 trilogy plus a few tracks from various Halloween chapters. Maniac did a tremendous and difficult job to achieve it.

Special thanks to LastSurvivor for an insightful feedback 😃.

So you have THE SHAPE and THE SHAPE RETURNS to create one story. Or each of them can be viewed as stand-alone movies.

JIGSAW II: Endgame (a sequel to A History of Desperation) (Released)
Time

Merry Christmas everyone! Our JIGSAW II fanedit is available now - you can find more info on Maniac’s blog 😉.

Our last edit of 2021. It was an enormous amount of work to put it all together both on paper and then during the editing process. There were lot of music re-scores, some experimental things to see if it works, and finally, after long long hours of work every day, we had the first workprint that Heavysyde & Heavy-Patience helped us to improve - thanks a lot guys for your feedback and suggestions - it was invaluable 😃.

I hope people who have never watched SAW movies will enjoy JIGSAW 1-2 edits as we tried to focus more on story and characters and limit gore to bare minimum. And for SAW fans it’ll be the alternative version of their favorite stories.

Best wishes 😃. Enjoy our present for us 😉.

JIGSAW II: Endgame (a sequel to A History of Desperation) (Released)
Time

JIGSAW II: ENDGAME (2021) - RELEASED

by Maniac & Zagadka

A sequel to Jigsaw: A History of Desperation (2020) fan edit. Based upon the SAW saga.

John Kramer aka “The Jigsaw Killer” (Tobin Bell) and his apprentices plan the final game teaching people to appreciate the value of their lives. Two FBI profilers, Agent Peter Strahm and Agent Lindsey Perez, help detectives sift through Jigsaw’s test and piece together his past and a mortal puzzle.

Part II is a new spin on the story (edited from Saw 3-4 and scenes from other entries) - more character driven plot, new surprises, less gore and the alternate ending. We wanted to play with the source material a bit and bend the story that you already know, so we used all Saw films and created something different, in the spirit of the psychological thriller than horror.

The fan edit is done in 2.40 ratio with DTS 7.1. sound.
A new soundtrack by Fesliyan Studios and Charlie Clouser.

The Woman on the Train - Maniac/Zagadka Edition (Released)
Time

THE WOMAN ON THE TRAIN is a Maniac’s fan edit of The Girl on the Train (2016) movie based upon Paula Hawkins’s thriller novel. The aim is to tell the story from Rachel’s (Emily Blunt) perspective only and with the alternate ending (a small twist 😉. A few clunky bits of dialog and exposition ruined the atmosphere and mystery about the killer’s identity. With a tighter running time and the removal of the cringeworthy scenes, there’s an actually good and dark thriller hidden under some melodrama trash.

There fanedit is rescored with Trent Reznor / Atticus Ross’s music (Gone Girl) and Ólafur Arnalds’ (Broadchurch TV series) music.
Running time: 84 min

The fanedit improves the pace of both films, fixes some issues and creates a bit alternative version of what you know from the original movies.

Time

Yep, it’s finally here, folks! It was a very difficult and demending fanedit, but I believe it’s one of Maniac’s best edits 😃! I’ve been a SAW fan for so many years, and I’ve always wanted to tell my own story out of these movies. And thanks to Maniac, after so many years, my dreams have come fulfilled! Check this out - now it’s a thought-provoking and disturbing drama-thriller:

JIGSAW: A History of Desperation (a chronological fanedit based on the SAW saga) (Released)
Time

JIGSAW: A HISTORY OF DESPERATION pulls the backstory of John Kramer aka “The Jigsaw Killer” that is weaved throughout the SAW franchise (2004-2017), and creates a new chronological narrative about his life, work and philosophy. It cuts down on violence to concentrate on the story and character development of Jigsaw, Jill Tuck, Amanda Young and Mark Hoffman.

It’s a fan edit from the best bits and it’s a new spin on Jigsaw’s story. It changes the tone from bloody horror into a psychological-thriller-drama movie (it’s more in style with David Fincher’s SE7EN). It restructures the timeline of flashbacks, reduces ridiculous storylines/dialogs, over the top gore, plot holes and threads without answers.
It’s in a way a spiritual remake of THE JIGSAW FILES but with many new surprises and new music score.

HANNIBAL: LA VITA NUOVA – a TV-to-Movie fanedit of Season 3 (Released)
Time

It’s a project of a faneditor Maniac and mine - HANNIBAL: LA VITA NUOVA.

We’ve made a fanedit of “Hannibal”'s NBC TV Series (Season Three first half), editing it into a 2 hours and 36 minutes long feature movie.

Maniac recut Seasons 1-3 into feature movies. The fanedit consists from the most interesting and relevant bits of the main story. The goal of these edits isn’t to cram every detail of the series into a limited time-frame, but to create the actual film versions of dr. Hannibal Lecter story from the best bits and create a new narrative

The fan edit is done in a 2.40 ratio with DTS sound converted from 5.1 to 7.1. It includes music re-scores by Angelo Badalamenti, Hans Zimmer, Kenji Kawai.

Hannibal - The Chesapeake Ripper (Released)
Time

Hi, guys 😃.
I hope you’ll find our edit interesting and entertaining. It’ll be available on Maniac blog on June 5th in a great quality. Here’s more about the project:

Bryan Fuller’s Hannibal TV series is an interesting show with an insight into one of the most intriguing killers – dr. Hannibal Lecter. The show is brilliantly written and acted, and there lies a fanedit potential here.
Seasons 1 & 2 are be edited down to two movies about Lecter’s hidden agenda to see what’ll happen to Will Graham as his condition worsens. While “Minnesota Shrike” and “Chesapeake Ripper” plotlines are interesting, the case-of-the-week killers was rather dull; some murders were over-the-top and far-fetched. The films will consist from the most interesting and relevant bits and end with Season 2 epic finale.

The goal of these two edits isn’t to cram every detail of the series into a limited time-frame, but to create the actual film versions of Hannibal story from the best bits (Will, Hannibal, Jack Crawford cat-and-mouse play).

Any Hannibal fans around here? 😄
