well who said fixing problems affects the true story of starwars? i wasnt saying add stuff i was only suggesting to maybe fix certain things in the original movie eventually. lets face it theres lots of incorrect problems with the visuals in the original trilogy.
But then where does it stop? Who decides "certain things"? Why not take the films as they were originally released? Isn't that the purpose behind the existence of this website?

I'm sorry guys, but does the title of this thread read "Will the OOT be released on BD"?
This latest rumor is currently being discussed here:
http://originaltrilogy.com/forum/topic.cfm/4K-restoration-on-Star-Wars-Official/post/722162/#TopicPost722162Even still with all the DNR messes they have given recently with older titles, I am not sure they will give it the love it needs to make it what it should be.
Yeah, transfers of catalog titles have been all over the place.
Still, for example Alien and Aliens, Terminator, Robocop give me hope.

Look in the comments on that comicbook.com link - Fox owns the distribution rights to the original trilogy and would have to license them to Disney. Smells like a steaming pile of bullshit.
You're right. I'm sure Fox isn't interested in making a boatload of money. It's more advantageous for them to snub Disney and continue trying to sell the 2011 set.
Well OK. I hope I will be able to eat my words, though not literally..

Good luck man!! I hate this kind of crap! I bricked a motherboard by flashing the BIOS to update it. I feel your pain.

Damn those last few screenshots make me so mad!
It isn't just the cropping, it's the messing with Kershner's perfectly composed shots. When there is a shot of Lando mucking about with some Falcon panels, why would you crop out half the panels?
(ESB:R recolouring looks gorgeous btw)
I completely agree - every frame of this film is masterful composition. Breaking the 4th wall? I completely disagree - it's the inside border of the cockpit (?!), and with the composition intact, it in fact feels more cramped than the cropped shot, because uncropped we can better see the round shape of the cockpit. Oh, and it should go without saying that this is MY OPINION...
I downloaded a mt2s of the DVD9 Empire, and I've just watched some of the new workprint on my PC monitor - looks great!!
