Info Wanted: Giorgio Moroder presents "Metropolis" - is it any good? (lots of info)
Time

I've got a PAL copy of version 1.0 of redux lying around somewhere on dvd. But it's quite a while ago I watched it. I'll look it up.

If memory serves me right, the redux version mimics Moroders version als close as possible. Maybe with a little less colour bleed in the multicolour shots. It also uses different takes for certain parts of the movie because the later restoration used some different takes than Moroder did.

Edit: I just found this on Youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEA4bNWkHJE It shows some of the changes made for redux.

Info & Offer: Laserdisc, I have an X9 for use... if anyone wants to use it?
Time

This kind of possibilities is the reason I keep checking this site. I am also Dutch. I have got the definitive collection on laserdisc. This might be an option to combine different copy's of the definitive collection, to one superior digital copy. And being already in the Netherlands I might even be able to drop of the disc's personally.

I also have some non-Star Wars laserdiscs that might be interesting to capture. One of them is the CAV letterbox edition of the Lion King. This version is without the alterations that are on the dvd and blu-ray release. It does also have some great extra's, that are (as far as I know) never released on other media. One of them is the documentairy, 'The Making of the Lion King'.

Ady, can you tell what subtitles will be included on the DVD 9?

Same as on the DVD-5

Actually I was asking this because 8t88 contacted me about Dutch subs. I made a lot of special modifications myself and did send then to him, because he made the first version of them. So if you get them, will there still be a possibility, they will be included on the DVD 9?

Can't you just take a picture of your left hand and mirror it?

'Queen - Live In Budapest' LD to DVD transfer (Released)

Wer-Al, are you redoing this one by slowing down the audio and converting it to NTSC? Also what are the errors on the disc you are talking about. I have this LD too so maybe together we have the whole thing without errors.

Actually I already finished my new version, but I didn't put it on usenet yet. The errors I was talking about are things like:
1 Speedup
2 A noisier second side compared to the first
3 Unoptimized colors (Not realy an error, but something that could be better)
4 Pan/Scan (Not sure about the original aspect ratio)

Number 4 is unfortunately impossible for me to fix, but the other things are fixed by now. The final product is NTSC and has a sharper and more natural look, because less details are filtered out.

BTW The reason I redid this one, was because, while it looked fine one my old CRT screen, the old transfer seemed to soft on my new TFT screen.

I'm redoing it. There are some errors on the original laserdisc which I’m correcting. There was something with the audio that seemed to be wrong. But I didn’t know what. But when I recently compared the opera section of Bohemian Rhapsody with the cd version on A Night at the Opera I realised what it was. It was PAL speedup. Something that should never be used on a music based release.
