Romero's Land Of The Dead: Unrated FanCut (Released)
Time

i dont log in very often, let alone post, but I felt I had to do both today after watching this version of a film I never felt quite fit into Romero's "Dead" universe.  I was never able to quite put my finger on what it was that bugged me about it, but then I got a chance to watch Rock Savage's Unrated FanCut and basically, it made it FEEL like a Romero film again, not so SciFi channel-ish.

Thanks for your hard work!

NOW RELEASED: The Godfather: 1901-1980 Epic Edit
Time
i am currently downloading a copy of 1 & 2 that has been chronologically edited together by a fan. who that fan is, i have no clue as i found the torrent through a search engine and it had no info, the title card just reads "The Godfather 1 & 2" in that notoriously awful godfather font thats floating around... i've been downloading this for about a week and i'm at 99.2%, just waiting for the seeder to jump back on so i can finish up... i'm really lazy thats why i'm hoping this fulfills my need for this flick, because i dont even know where to begin when it comes to editing the piece myself (although i still plan on doing it, i just want my fix)

if anyone is interested, i can either put the avi's back up on a torrent site or possibly post them to a newsgroup...

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 <strong>REVISITED</strong> ADYWAN *<em>1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION</em>
Time
I just wanted to drop a line and say I just downloaded this off the newsgroups, watched maybe half (due to time constraints) and I have to say that this will be THE definitive Star Wars for me from now on, since I know George Lucas will never put out something of this quality... I cant imagine the work Adywan must have done, the film simply looks amazing. I bought the boxed set a few years back and have only watched it once because the colors werent what i remembered and it detracted from the film, everything about this version is just simply amazing.

if any of you are reading this and havent already downloaded it, go do it now.

thanks to adywan for putting out such a quality edit.

NOW RELEASED: The Godfather: 1901-1980 Epic Edit
Time
I was watching my copy of the saga that was aired on bravo about a year ago, and i was really disappointed with the advertisments and banners in the picture, and especially with alot of the cuts....

is this project going to be released? if not, i am going to try and do my own edit, but all i have is the dvd set and a set of vhs tapes i got off ebay that was supposed to be the chronological trilogy, but when i popped the tapes in it was just the regular movie it seemed (it is a 6 vhs set, each movie looks to take up 2 tapes and it comes in a gold box)... anyway, if this project is never to be released, i would like to go ahead with my first edit, if only for my own personal enjoyment

Yeah I saw that, and saw that it was my dang brother's account. I told him to end it,and he hasn't so I don't know what to do Needless to say I won't be giving him copys of any more of my discs.

Um, you might wanna grow some balls and take care of the situation before somebody decides that you're actually a liability to the project and to these forums. You're the catalyst for this whole project, DarthCarr, I thought you'd do more to protect it. Slap your brother around abit, for chrissake.
I went to him today and asked him about it and he just said "oh you know about that?",and told him about it,and finally I I went to his dvd collection and took them from him,and he looks to have closed the ioffer listing as it says "No longer available" and he called and said ok he closed it,but it won't come completely off ioffer. Anyone use it so I can tell him to delete it completely? I don't have a account there, and have no idea as how to help him. Thank God tho, that noone bought them. I'm sorry guys I have the discs, and it won't happen again. It sucks tho, thought I could trust him.

this thread is turning into a bad sitcom.

Idea: fan edit... for those who like Zombies
Time

let me know what you all think of this idea…

I was just watching Resident Evil for the first time and came up with an idea… kind of based off of JohnBoy3434’s idea for an amalgamation of the NOTLD movies… my idea is simple, but i dont know how difficult it would be to execute… what my plan is, is to take all modern zombie movies (Dawn of the Dead 2004, NOTLD 90, Resident Evil 1 & 2, 28 days & weeks later, etc) and cutting them up and making them into somewhat of a TV series, cutting back and forth from different “locations” (ie, different movies), using the T-Virus storyline from Resident Evil as the origin of the zombies… of course to pull this off successfully, any resolution to these movies would have to be put in the last “episodes”, and I would want to get rid of the licker, as i dont feel it is a zombie per se… and i dont know what is in Resident Evil Apocalypse that would need to be cut out.

Does this sound interesting, or even possible, to anyone? I would really like some ideas on this, because I have always dreamed of a zombie TV show.

I don't know what the point of this is since The only "alternate footage" would be in the 30th anniv. edition, which of course is already on dvd. The public domain versions would more likely have footage cut out rather than added in, since there is no actual "deleted scenes" for this film. There was a 3-D version released in some crappy 3-D boxset a few years back. On the other hand there are several alternate audio tracks that could be used. The Fox version has the MST3K track. There was a ghetto "laugh track" version that was released on DVD. And there's that homemade "night of the dawn blah blah blah". The only other thing that I could suggest is that you track down an introduction by George Romero that was filmed for the pay-tv airings.

On the contrary, this will be quite different from the 30th Anniversary Edition. When Russo added in that 15 minutes of new footage, he chopped 15 minutes of the original cut out. So, the 30th Anniversary Edition doesn't include all of the original cut's footage. That's reason enough for this edit, but there's more. The fan-edit-turned-legit-DVD-release Benefit for the Living Dead (aka the Survivor's Cut) mixed in a couple more new scenes and added a colored tint to the film, but cut out all of the 30th Anniversary footage. And neither of these recuts featured full colorization, a treatment only given to the original cut. So, this release of mine will have all in one place what would normally require purchasing three different DVDs. I think that's justification enough, don't you?

P.S.: I considered using the footage from the 3-D version, but it requires the special glasses, and the colorized footage would look better, anyway. Another version is the "Live from Wisconsin" version that aired last Halloween on G4, but it really just amounted to an MST3K type deal, only with two hillbillies that couldn't tell a joke to save their lives.

their re-creations of scenes from the movie were kinda funny though. the whole live horror movie thing was lame though, although the idea of taking out zombies with a block of cheese does kind of give me a chuckle.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - The Enhanced ABC Cut (Released)
Time

Ok, I now have version two of the clip done. The sample is Xvid (apologies for the black borders, it's Womble's xvid encoder).

http://rapidshare.com/files/42185865/v2.zip.html 12.9mb
Zip file includes the original ABC version for comparison.

This is an idea of the sort of tweaks I'm making.

The ABC's version of this clip:
-Before the first dissolve (to outdoors) the music cues are different and start later than theatrically.
-Before the first dissolve a more cropped framing is used as they zoom in on Harry. Ron disappears off the side of the frame and the camera looks like it's struggling to keep the actors in the shot.
-Before the first dissolve (starting with the cut just before it) the audio is 4 frames out of sync.
-The music continues for a good bit into the study hall scene (theatrically it's quiet).
-The study hall shot is more cropped (losing a lot of the scale of the room).
-The study hall's colors are oversaturated. (The room feels small warm and cozy.)

My version:
+Restored theatrical music cues before first dissolve.
+Restored most of the theatrical zooming shot before first dissolve. (Cut added just before final zoom in on Harry).
+Audio now syncs.
+Soft whispering and scratching quills are now predominant in study hall (not music).
+Volume lowered for outdoor shot (it was louder than the clips before and after).
+Color saturation, white levels and gamma corrected to match theatrical footage (and the rest of the scene) of the study hall establishing shot.
+Dissolve reconstructed with above corrected clip.
+Music cues removed and replaced by shorter theatrical version and quiet environmental sounds.
-Couldn't fix overcropping of study hall establishing scene.

A lot of this is nit picks, but much of the added scenes have some problem. I've seen people move their lips while not talking (because of bad overdubs) and aspect ratios shift suddenly.

now THIS sounds like something I will be downloading... i havent downloaded rikter's ABC cuts, so i'm really interested in seeing this.

Thanks again.

I did actually manage to capture both parts in their entirety, but like it was said in another post on this thread, there are alot of ridiculously large banner ads during the movie... i did cut the commercials out though

ya know, at first, although i am a HUGE fan of dawn, i was only mildly interested in seeing a "composite" edit of this, but damn the lengths he went to to insert a few measly seconds... this is going to be an A+ project and i am totally excited for it now.

Idea: a Black Donnellys preservation?
Time

this was an AMAZING show (in my opinion, of course) and while i have all the episodes, most of them are webrips, which are horrible quality…

HDNET has picked up the the entire 13 episode run of the show, but thing is, i dont have HD… this is one of those shows that is really up in the air whether or not there will be a dvd release, i have already done some really nifty menus for my own personal set, but if anyone here has HD and is willing to capture these, I would LOVE to team up for a preservation…

any takers?

i captured the bravo airing of the saga, what sucks about it is the ads and crap that pop up at the bottom of the screen, the bravo logo i could live with but these stupid ads for their stupid shows come up and block some of the subtitles during deniro's parts in the GF2 when they are speaking italian.... frustrating... i'm debating whether or not trying to use this airing as a base for my own fan edit... i've never done a fan edit, but i catch on pretty quick so i might end up doing this if there is interest and fanfiltration doesnt end up posting his... if he posts his, there is no point in my trying to attempt it (hint, hint, nudge, nudge)

I've been aware of CW's one and he has graciously allowed it to be his production that can be brought out under the DotD Ultimate Edition #2 banner - that will be the closer to this project (but I think I might be able to squeeze another disc in before this obvious concluding epic!).

Seenoevil - we'll all be very interested to hear how your's is progressing if you can drop by this thread periodically.

i am in the middle of capturing a couple of things that might be of interest to those reading this thread... my capturing abilities arent the best in the world (broadcast quality, i have an analog box with a dvr) but i havent seen these things pop up anywhere else yet:

Night of the Living Dead - Live from Wisconsin (see info here: http://www.g4tv.com/nightofthelivingdead/index.html)

Night of the Tripping Dead (actually saw this online, but not as good quality here: http://www.gamespot.com/pages/filter/video_player.php?id=cXczwmH65b4Psj_a)

i'll give more details if requested, but i needed to get these off of my DVR as i'm running out of space, and though i'd make some dvd backups for myself

The Godfather Trilogy 1901 - 1980

Has anyone preserved this? I know FanFiltration was working on a chronological edit, but appears to have dropped the project.

There is also “The Godfather Saga” or “The Godfather Epic” (click here) which was made before Godfather III was released. Both of these were edited together by the director himself, Francis Ford Coppola.

I would love to find a copy of either of these, but especially “The Godfather Trilogy”, I found some sets on ebay (VHS) but there were laserdisc copies as well… I have the ability to transfer VHS to DVD, but probably not at the quality that I have seen in some of the fan preservations here, so I would rather have someone else do the work, but I can do it if needed.

Anyone?
