In order for this to work the person has to speak highly specific phrases in order to generate a voice profile. This is to prevent just such a thing as making a profile of someone else.

Here’s a different app which can clone a voice with just 5 seconds of audio:

Is anyone aware of any audio of Palpatine uttering the phrase “kill him” other than in reference to Dooku in ROTS?

The novelization of TFA describes an inner voice of rage saying these words to Rey as she stands victorious over Kylo Ren. Whether it meant this originally or not, one naturally infers Palpatine at this point.

I’d like to at least play with adding that line, but the delivery in ROTS sounds almost casual.

I don’t have a perfect memory, but I don’t recall the Emperor saying that line in TROS.

The link below which can be used to generate voices based on real people could be interesting depending on how many samples exist of the Emperor speaking (or rather yelling).

It would be ok to hint of a sinister and mysterious dark force out there for Ren to go investigate. But better to not imply it’s Palpatine. He should have never been a part of the trailers, Fornite, or the opening crawl. Imagine if they had kept that reveal a secret. I think the key to a good TROS edit is to see how long the reveal of Palp can be reasonably delayed.

Whether or not HAL, pappasketti, and others decide to go the Rey Nobody or Rey Palpatine route, it would be such a mistake and waste of time to retcon their excellent and really PERFECT edits of TFA (HAL9000) and TLJ (poppasketti) to try and fit into the new, mediocre TROS story. Rather, the focus should be on making TROS itself more streamlined and coherent. The discovery of Palpatine should have been a real surprise, and now that that surprise is ruined it doesn’t help to make Palp cackle somewhere in TLJ. Just remove his mention from the awful opening crawl from TROS. Perhaps if the whole Rey Palpatine storyline was something JJ/disney added in at the last moment, it is better to just reverse that arguably silly and unimaginative decision in the edit.

To all who had a hand in V2 thank you. V1 was already great but the additions on canto with the slave boy help give that storyline more meaning and tie in better with the ending. And phasma’s body-- well that’s just icing on the cake. Looking forward to seeing what can be done to clean up TROS. Hopefully poppasketti will be involved in that effort as well.

The Last Jedi: Recalibrated (PM for link!)

Hal9000, poppasketti and krlozdac thanks for the hard work put into all your edits. I always loved TLJ, and krlozdac I really appreciated the choices you made to piece together the recalibrated edit. I found the google drive link you posted on reddit. Just finished watching it and man I have to say there is no reason for me to watch the original version of TLJ anymore. This is far superior to the theatrical release, thanks to the efforts of many people. Godspeed rebels. Haha I really mean may the force be with you.

Sounds good to provide such an “alternate ending cut”. What about the Yoda deleted scene in the original ending cut ?

The Dagobah scene will be excluded. It was added to replace the funeral for pacing and… just feeling right.

Right! The funeral was like a bittersweet thing. So was the Yoda scene. It would be redundant to have all that and the Death Star and uncle Owen and— Bilbo hugging Gandalf.

You know what? Screw it. Enough people have asked for this the past few years that, even though I wouldn’t want it, I’ll just release a version with the alternate (or original) ending. I won’t give it subtitles or commentary track or anything special, and I’ll just release the big mkv version. Anyone inclined can download it and reencode to their satisfaction.

It will be identical up to the point at which the medical robot comes out. It’ll be the original version through the end of the movie, save for removing the line “she has lost the will to live” and altering the Vader scream to the Russian version as in LOE proper.

Thanks a ton Hal. Awesome.

The 5gb and 10gb mpeg-2 rebalanced files both had highly noticeable visual artifacts and in my view were not watchable, so I downloaded the 30gb mpeg-2 which was perfect quality. After converting it to x265 10 bit 1080p got it down to 3gb and still extremely high quality. Watched it at home tonight with the kiddos and loved it!!! Seamless professional edits. Anakin is so much more relatable and the story more enjoyable. And thank the whills the Vader no got the axe. Thank you Siliconmaster, truly great job.

It’s the HDTV capture from schorman13, for reasons expressed earlier. Given the look of TAS, the deleted scenes used, and even the brief Boleyn footage, I think it’s a little better source to use. Not all-around better, but better for cohesion.

Hal, any chance of not using the Boelyn footage for an updated release and reverting to the “yeah she’s dead” ending? Your HAL9000 version(s) really are the gold standard in every way except for the incredibly jarring progression of Padme in bed with baby Leia and then suddenly Luke being summarily deposited on Tatooine without any real explanation of why this is happening. Padme just kept Leia and tossed Luke??? It’s a real wtf moment that probably can’t be solved given the source material.

Anyway, love your work. The way you have Windu get right to business to execute Palp and how Anakin immediately jumps after Obi-wan and gets his legs sliced were awesome. Having no Yoda palp fight did make the Obi-Ani battle so much better.

Thank you for the hard work you put into this. Loved the YouTube clip you posted comparing the Windu Palp fight. Nice seamless choices you made which cut away all the terrible exposition but left Palps cruel smirk just before he zaps away. Could you please also send me the link to the fanedit files? Would love to be able to watch ep 3 again. Thanks!
