So I was re watching the Battle of Kings Landing in your Film 9, and still confused on the bells scene. Danny starts the attack, no bells ringing, but as she’s flying to to the keep, the bells start ringing, yet the army attacks the Lannisters army right after. Was this an error or am I missing something?

Good question. The way I cut it is to imply that:

  1. Daenerys gives Cersei the chance to surrender (she sits down her dragon, gives Cersei time) but she’s not surrendering.
  2. The Lannister Army is not putting down their swords (implying they’d rather fight for Cersei than a foreigner)
  3. When the bells start actually ringing, it’s implied that it’s not even by Cersei’s command (hence Daenerys is tired of Cersei’s shit and is proceeding for the final blow - knowing full well, as Tyrion has told her, that Cersei always lays a trap).

So, in essence, point 3:
a) Fifteen minutes prior, in the Dragon Pit, Danaerys tried to make her and Cersei form an alliance/understanding the proper way. It went south, no pun intended.
b) After destroying The Scorpions during the King’s Landing attack, she gives Cersei room to surrender again.
c) The Lannister Army does NOT surrender.
D) Expecting a trap, given the final chance for surrender, and now making her way to the castle - just as the bells start ringing (but not by Cersei’s command) Daenerys finish her off.

Ah I see. Makes sense. So the citizens rang the bells so no reason to go scorch earth on them, just cersei and the army?

I’ve read all your replies and answered all the PMs, and thank you for the kind words, appreciation for the work and the love.

Some of the words, like “Director’s Cut that D&D would never dare to release” (haha! that’s pretty fitting description of Film X to be honest) and bringing justice to the fans are very nice compliments. But I have to also add; without those two people we would never get the quality we did during the first seasons. I just simply think they lost the passion and hunger after the first couple of years. But thank you for acknowledging my efforts to remedy some of that lost passion on their part.

And ThanosM; those are some very true and kind words. Thank you.

Life is busy these days, so when I finally get a chance to sit down it’s either fanediting or work. Typing words and engaging brain to articulate myself is the hard part, so I apologize for the short reply.

I will say however, that some of the earlier films - Film 3 and 5 - will have small finetunes and be re-released. Nothing major. Film 3 will feature some Stannis to keep him a little bit more relevant and to reveal Shireen as his daughter earlier on than Film V (pushing Film 3’s runtime from 3hrs to 3hrs&6 minutes), and I will fix an editing error in Film V that sees Olena and Margarey’s dialogue cut short due to some issue that occured pre-render back then that I never got the time to fix for a re-release due to loss of hardware.

I might also do some adjustments to sound, grading and visual effect(s) now that I have way more advanced tools and methods than I did back in 2019/2020 when I did the first five films.

If you do, let us know so I can update my copies.

Film X Released

  • DeNoised Edition – Designed for those who prefer a clearer image without the grain and noise of the original night battle scenes. Still the same structural edit.

  • 1080p Grain-Preserved Edition/Original 1080p – Maintains the original texture and atmosphere, now presented in high-resolution clarity. Still the same structural edit.

A Note from Me:

I’ll keep most details under wraps — this is something best experienced in full. I strongly suggest watching from beginning to end rather than skipping ahead. The edits are everywhere - some subtle yet purposeful, some as you remember it but emotionally restructured in tone - and some, of course, extremely major - but reweaving familiar threads to take the story on a slightly different emotional journey. Let it unfold naturally, and you may find yourself feeling things in a way you hadn’t before.

Of course, once it’s in your hands, how you watch is entirely up to you. But if you want to truly feel the scale and emotion I aimed to restore—start at the beginning.

This project has been a massive undertaking. Am I happy with it? Absolutely. Will it resonate with you? I can’t say for sure. But what I can say is that every effort here has gone into building an ending that feels earned—not dismissive. One that honors the characters, the tone, and the grand scope that the name Game of Thrones has always evoked.

Enjoy.

And as always—please support the series by owning it on physical media or being a subscriber to HBO Max.

I just got done watching this and I have to say, out of all the GOT ending edits I’ve seen, this feels the best it could be. It might be because all your films more or less build up to this moment but it works and it gives an ending for GOT that really we could ask for. I am so glad I watched these films and followed along this past year and a half because this I feel is the best way to experience GOT even as a first time viewer like myself. You did a fantastic job creating these films and did so many fans justice with this.

I would love to discuss this film more, but I don’t want to spoil it at all and would rather hold my discussion and spoiler topics until more people see it.

Thank you for your kind replies, PM’s and patience. Here is an update:

Update for Film X

Finally I’ve made some major progress. The main achilles heel of Film X was a very VFX-demanding scene I had to pull off to sell the emotional whiplash of the ending - and the one big scene that kind of shifts the entire story narrative as the audience are originally used to it unfolding. In other words; If i didn’t pull of this scene to preferable quality, the entire ending would fall flat and just be another “slightly tweaked” GoT ending that just doesn’t work for me nor the ending I’m going for.

I know I’m always very coy when it comes to these updates, but that is because I want to have some surprises, and a last gut-punch for the audience in good, old GoT-fashion. Hopefully, now with the heavy (and expensive!!) VFX work out of the way, I can go on and finetune the audio mix and some ending parts and hopefully release rather soon.

Also:

I’ve finally found the time to add the series to the IFDB, and I know a lot of you have wanted this for a long time. Please feel free to leave a review. 😃

I legit saw your IFDB listing a few days ago and it made me wonder if it was a sign that the last film was almost done. Then I see this update and now I’m more hyped for this final film. Looking forward to when it comes out!

Just got done watching it. Great edit overall. I did notice some subtitles missing like at 2:37:10. One thing that has been on my mind is, do you know what the slow piano music is at 59:30. I swear I’ve heard this in your GOT edits before, but couldn’t find it on ytp anywhere.

Cheers, my friend. I’m glad you enjoyed it. I’ll look into the subtitles.

was this HotD film I or II? 😃

Hotd 2. Do you know where on ytp that song is?

It was fate of the kingdoms. Found it.

House of the Dragon - Film II - The Wars To Come

is released, with subtitles.

Major changes from the main story/season:

  • Alicent and Rhaenyra doesn’t keep meeting up in secret.
  • Rhaenyra complains a lot less.
  • Jahaerys and Baela are turned into more active players.
  • Corlys have a lot of his scenes re-arranged to feel more included and important to the overall plot.
  • Daemon’s story at Harrenhall is re-structured and have more urgency added to it.
  • Daemon changes his allegiance back to Rhaenyra from PTSD and guilt, not from White Walker preminition.
  • White Walker Weirwood dream is altered and takes place earlier in the story, and is left more up to the imagination than the original season allows it to.
  • Fast Travel is restructured so that there is none.
  • The pacing is very strict.

Besides from this, the season has been turned into a very intense and paced-up film narrative with a lot of montages to keep the story going and engaging at all times.

Gonna hop on this. Any update on the finale of got?

I think I’ve sent PMs to all whom have requested. Please re-request if not.

Thank you all. ❤️

HotD - Film II is in the works, and with the quality of Season 2 thus far (and the cinematic structure of it) this edit is slowly becoming one of my favourites as I can edit it into something of a “The Dark Knight” of the Game of Thrones Film Edits.

Film X is also closing in on something of a finished edit, although I will have to rewatch and tinkle with the ending for at least another two weeks - many a time - to see how well it works or doesn’t work.

Looking forward to it. You got me all excited to see how it ends.

Update - House of the Dragon

House of the Dragon - The Heir of Despair - Film I

is released and inside the GoT folder.

This has been in the works for over eight months and streamlines the almost 11 hours of HotD into 3 and a half hours with a strong, focused narrative that also removes the weaker part of the series as well as balance the timelines into something cohesive and more understandable.

Please enjoy, and thank you to my girlfriend who has had to endure four different cuts of the film. We settled on this one because it best told the story of Act I without sacrificing one timeline for the other.

I’ll give it a watch tonight after work. Looking forward to this while waiting for the finale!

Update

Film X, although not in the nearest of nears, is finally coming slightly together (mainly the ending / The dark ending). It’s important for me to bring a feeling of closure combined with a last gutpunch in good GoT fashion to bring the series out, and after counless attempts and several months I’ve finally structured an ending I’m pleased with and that I find to hit the right, emotional beats.

Therefore I can now continue work on the structure of the rest of the film, before I revisit the ending once more and then finish the audiomix.

That’s great to hear! Looking forward to how it all ends.

Subtitles are now done for Film I and Film II, with rest to follow suit.

@applecore88; IX and X are on a laptop that is being repaired right now, so I’m waiting for it to return so I can transfer everything over to my new computer. Thereafter I think IX will be a few days from release (as I was very close before the laptop issue arose).

Any update on this?

GAME OF THRONES - A TALE OF KINGS AND HONOR (Released)
Time

I just got down watching the first seven films (I’m moving over to the GOT Redeemed edit to finish the series while waiting for the final films to come out)

As someone who has never watched the series due to just feeling like how much episodes there are in the series and not enough time to really want to digest it all, this is a good way to watch it. I feel like I didn’t miss too much while being able understand most of the story. I will say that Film 7 (I think 6 too in some parts) had some jarring cuts here and there that I noticed like character teleporting a few feet or being cut off. Something I do like that did turn me off from the series, was the amount of sex and explicit scenes that were in the series. I’ve heard from others that they were there sometimes more unnecessarily than what was for the plot. While they still are here, I find them more tasteful than just put in there for the sake of shock of a checkbox for horny women lol.

My only gripe is the lack of subtitles after the first film. I really wish subtitles were made to help distinguish who was who. With so many characters it took me by film 6 to finally get their names.

Looking forward to the last of the films in the series coming.
