Death Note (2017) - 7/10
Honestly, I enjoyed the hell out of this. Some great visuals, cast is pretty good, especially Dafoe as Ryuk. Never read the manga or watched the anime so I can’t compare them, but I can say that this adaptation/reimagining is a lot of fun.
Spider-Man: Homecoming - 9/10
Most fun I’ve had at the movies since the other day when I saw Baby Driver. Still, what an AWESOME film!
The Belko Experiment - 7/10
Solid flick, made a lot better by the guys sitting behind me.

Kong: Skull Island - 6/10
Incoherent but glorious.
“Incoherent”? Care to explain why you feel that way? I though it was easy to follow. And very fun.
Not sure if incoherent was the right word. It’s a bit messy, certain scenes were just kinda “there”, like the scene where he pummeled the octopus in the lake and it was never mentioned again and didn’t move the plot forward.
Kong: Skull Island - 6/10

Get Out - 9/10
This movie isn’t super “scary” in the conventional sense, but it’s thrilling and interesting as hell.
Logan - 9/10
Wow I cried a lot. What a great sendoff for Hugh Jackman. Bad guy was a little mustache-twirly.
Really want to see this, because I love The Wolverine and this is by the same director. Is it similar in tone?

Holy shit this movie was hysterical. But it’s a horror movie, so I have to dock a few points.
Sing Street - 9/10
Wow. This movie is a lot of fun. I’ve heard a lot of praise from natives of Ireland saying how accurate its depiction of 1980’s Ireland, but being an American millennial, I can’t relate. What I can relate to is interesting characters and some damn good music. I highly recommend it.
The LEGO Batman Movie - 8.5/10
The best Batman (and DC, for that matter) film in almost 9 years. A 104-minute long non-stop barrage of laughs.
The Founder - 7/10
Ray Kroc is an ass.
I thought Manchester by the Sea was truly fantastic, but I don’t think “enjoyed” is the word I’d use.
My Regal sucks when it comes to cell phones. Someone was taking pictures with the flash on during the movie.
That blows. I hope the couple splits soon.
La La Land - 9.8/10

Split - 7/10
Decent flick, but my enjoyment was significantly dampened by the crowd. 8 people got kicked out, including a guy who was getting blown, and the girl who was blowing him.
Whipped this up today out of boredom. I kind of like it. I might print it and use it for njvc’s set.
This is awesome! (Except it says 1.85:1 instead of 2.39:1. But that’s just me nitpicking.)
La La Land - 9.5/10
I guess this is cheating because it’s the third time I’ve seen it. (I rarely see movies 3 times in a theater.) Such a magical film.
I found Deadpool to be entertaining, but anyone who thinks it has a shrivel of a chance for a Best Picture nom at the Oscars is batshit crazy.
Health class update: We watched Mean Girls for our ‘bullying’ unit and Rudy for our ‘goal setting’ unit and I’m getting kinda nervous because we just started sex ed
They still pull that stuff in classes. Except they’re pixelated, heavily compressed videos ripped off the internet.
Yeah. Last year we watched a common cold video that was ripped from a VHS then compressed. Part of it was a student film made by Colin Trevorrow, actually.
Mean Girls - 5/10

Enjoyed it a lot. The third act was a bit difficult with my friends and my father sitting next to me.
From what I’ve heard (cannot confirm) is that the UHD release on vudu has the IMAX sequences intact.
