Honestly, I’m starting to get very fearful right now.

What are you talking about? Are you ok?

Sorry, I just feel extremely worried about all these things that kept getting in the way of the Revisited edits being finished.

I’ve been quiet because my 43" 4k PC monitor’s backlight died and i have been unable to work on anything or use the internet ( my phone is too small for me to use for the net , even with my glasses 😉 Being old sucks. I’ve had to borrow a small monitor off a friend but only have it for a week, so i may go quiet again until i can afford to replace it

Replacement backlights are actually pretty cheap on ebay and easy to DIY. You don’t have to buy a new monitor.

On your February 3rd Facebook post, you said you’d reveal “by the end of the week” what was done to fix the falling gantry, but you never did.

I’ve been following Ady’s work for over a decade now. What I’ve learned is this… “If Adywan says he’s planning to do something, then something will get in his way.”

Have a good read of all his Revisited threads here from the beginning. You will see a man beset by bad luck, faulty equipment, garden fence catastrophe, poor health and family tragedy. But he persists, his work on these edits has almost taken him twenty years.

So assuming he hasn’t been crushed by a falling chandelier, assaulted by a disgruntled chimpanzee, or blinded by an exploding fire extinguisher then updates will be along at some point, I’m sure.

I hope it won’t be long now until ANHR:HD. With how long the Revisited project has taken and all the life challenges Ady’s shared, I sometimes worry if he’ll ever be able to finish everything he envisioned.

I can see why George made the edit, but as with most changes it was over zelous. People can debate the character implications plenty, there is ofc no right or wrong answers there, but I think there is one objective issue with the original version. Why would there be a corridor, lined with dozens of blast doors, turn the corner and end in a complete dead end. Like yes the hanger is badly composited and yes the 10,000 idle troopers is silly, but man pipes? It’s a show of the limited budget and from everything Lucas has said over the years, anything that held him back, if it be money or technical limitations, seemed to irritate him. Consitantly these are areas he chooses to edit the most.

Personally, do you prefer the hanger, or the pipes?

What’s really strange is how many of the changes made to the OT over the years just showed how much George Lucas had a problem with seeing the forest for the trees, as most of these changes, despite how much effort was put into them, are mostly self-contained and mess with the continuity of other scenes. The disappearing rocks in front of R2, the Stormtrooper helmets in ANH’s new scenes being the ROTJ helmets, the Cloud City windows being open in one shot, but are the pre-SE windows in later shots, the shot that makes Jabba’s palace door look bigger, etc.

I recently did a test burn of the ESB:R Blu-ray that was created with Adobe Encore and the results weren’t good. Tried the disc in 3 blu-ray players. Worked ok in 1 but not in the other two. Panasonic, LG & Sony players tested. Only the LG played it. So i’m giving up on releasing Blu-Ray versions. Good Blu-Ray authoring software just isn’t out there without paying extortionate fees. Adobe Encore is just too buggy, but other available software just don’t have the features, especially being able to use DTSHD audio and creating good menus. So what I will be doing is releasing higher bitrate versions of the edits, alongside the smaller file size ones, that should be Blu-Ray compatible if anyone wanted to make their own physical copy. It’s unfortunate, I know, but I don;t want people to have to download a 50GB disc image file only to find out that the authoring software has rendered the burned disc to be playable on their machines.

Why not use Dolby TrueHD instead of DTS-HD? It’s easier to encode, and it’s compatible with far more devices.

And what about all the bonus features you had planned? How will we get to see them?

Imo, Han his panic screaming reaction does seem a bit more justified when walking into a full hangar of troops. Pretty sure he and Chewie never stopped to look back and count how many followed after they bolted it. For me personally, the full hangar is one of the better changes in the SE…

I agree. But as is with the added Dewback shots, the added Stormtroopers in the back have the ROTJ helmets.

Then you have a wide shot that you can clearly see Luke unravelling the grappling hook, before he even thought of the idea. Sadly i just couldn’t fix this originally as simple editing could not fix the problem. But a couple of months ago i worked out how i could do it, so i have been flat out working on that to get it ready for Christmas.

I don’t see that error in the comparison video. Where is that wide shot?

Edit: Oh, never mind. It’s at 1:38. Clever editing. You took that shot and placed it 24 seconds later.

Is this the best attempt yet?

Your mother once thought as you do-

That’s actually the same clip that I posted here earlier this year.

Hal and I have completed a version of it that is 99% seamless:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1DwmceJ0DiMyqbkGC-sEHo_rfelpqBzZV/view?usp=drive_link

It will be fully seamless if we can get somebody to replicate the voice filter of Vader in ROTJ.

Thank jjb, I’m excited to see how seamless it can get…
The only other thing is I wonder how Adywan’s will sound when he does it.

Don’t you mean, IF he does it? Has he confirmed if he actually WILL replace “Obi-Wan” with “Your mother”?

yeah, I’m pretty sure he has. He also mentioned that he has his own Vader voice actor to do it.

He may not like the Prequels, but it’s still nice for him to add continuity nods like this.

The Hobbit (M4 Book Edit) (Released)
Time

I noticed that the video sources are the original Blu-Rays, and not the remastered Blu-Rays. It would be nice if a new version of this edit was made with them. Here’s where to find them:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Middle-Earth-6-Film-Collection-Remastered-Extended-Edition-Set-Blu-ray/dp/B09HCLCQN7

What does M4 think of the remastered picture?

Considering how they made a big deal about restoring the audio in their previous release, but messed it all up, my expectations are not super high. I doubt they will make these 25fps/50i this time around either. I also wonder if Aardman is straight up refusing to offer a master for A Close Shave that isn’t cropped, or if Shout has simply neglected to ask.

Is there an easy way to get A Matter of Loaf and Death at 25fps? The Lionsgate Blu-Ray may be at the correct audio pitch, but it’s still at 24fps.
