It's clearly much more limited. I'm looking at the You Tube Channel; almost 67,000 total views. Scene 1, which was blocked today, had almost 11,000 views. On the Vimeo page, Scene 24, which has the DO NOT WANT part everyone seemed to be waiting for with baited breath, has a whopping 115 total views, and one comment. So it's obviously not the same.

I don't understand why this is a problem.

It's not a problem that no one watches it; I don't have to bother with Vimeo, either, really.

OK I've recreated the playlist. Scene 12 is gone, did not have an old one. The old ones are laggy but it won't let me upload anything so this is as good as it's going to get.

Well I got ahold of Jedi again and, while the subs aren't nearly as hilarious or messed up as Backstroke, they're still quite amusing. Thread is here.

So... any progress on this project? This would definitely be my preferred way to watch Sith in the future :)

Hey that's great I'm going to check it out, if I can figure out how this sub program works.

I used to have a decent collection of popular films, and I think just about everyone of the had Engrish titles. I had Episode II and III (my copy of episode three had Russian subs though, I remember because it was the only one of these movies I had on DVD), Terminator 3, the second Matrix film, Fellowship of the Ring, and The Two Towers, X-Men 3, and the first two Spider-Man movies to name a few.

Unfortunately they were all on VHS and I never bothered bringing any of them back to the states with me. Fellowship of the Rings is the only one I have any nostalgia for the screwed up subtitles on, and would love to have a copy of those subs. Sure, I guess they can be kind of funny, but that only goes so far. Especially when every movie you watch has these, the novelty wears off.

To get back on topic, I very much agree with Katharsys, this dub is great fun and a copy of the audio file in the best quality possible would be great. Whoever made it, and I think we know at least one person involved, you guys did a great job. If you release an audio track of the whole film, we have plenty of people talented enough to do all the syncing. I'd love to have a DVD copy of this thing, and plenty of us have the skills to make that possible.

I would think there would be a lot more movies out there like this if it were so common. I'd really like to see another Backstroke movie- any movie- do you have any of the ones you mention? Anyway if the backing tracks are not Lucas then how did they do it? I mean- if you just cut the movie where they are talking then you get dead space with someone talking, right? I would imagine, though I'm no expert.

And Scene 17 just went down; I'm thinking the channel will simply be dead in a few days or sooner, so there won't be anything there to link to.

Enjoy Backstroke Dubbed while you still can. Scene 6 was blocked worldwide a while ago, and today I see that Scene 1 and 4 are also blocked.  Download it quick! because the channel will soon be gone.

So, is there some engrish Return of the Jedi? I'd very much like to see this! Sounds amazing.

I'm afraid I've failed, for the moment, to do the things I meant to do by now with Backstroke. I'm kinda disheartened to see the channel disappearing, and busy with other things, and so it just hasn't been a good time lately. Assembling it, once I have the solid video in place, won't be that hard- I don't think so, anyway. Nor will reproducing the DVD case and all that jazz. Just need time off work, more than what I have now.

Hey. I'm OK! Thanks.

As always I'm really busy these days but still hoping to paste the whole movie together into one big movie, also if I can do it correctly get a "best of" clip on You Tube- maybe that won't be taken down? There's quite a few people I'd like to send a DVD to if that day ever comes. The classic problem has always been that there's never been a steady visual to sync it up to- visual always has problems in the editing program- so there's nothing reliable. Won't stop me from trying (if I ever get a spare moment.)

I also need to re-link Scene 24 from You Tube, I chose a more synced up version and privatized the one that was linked.

Sure Harmy it should be fairly easy to put together and let you guys know when it's done. Still going to try to get it on You Tube but the Empire seems to really be Striking Back in that regard. Sorry it's taken so long to post everything, it really hasn't been the best fall season for me, but I'm glad it's done.

Yeah Monroville do let me know if you hear from the Red Letter Media people, their Star Wars reviews are HILARIOUS and the emperor impression is damn good. Been getting way into those.

Not sure anyone cares besides Wook, None and Monroville BUT we did succeed in getting the rest of the movie uploaded. You Tube has blocked it worldwide but it can be found here:

Well, I guess I won't do that then! That's cool, personally I also like the voice, besides I'm not sure I would know how to do this anyway, or if the Red Letter Media guy would even want to.

It seems that as this is in the public domain, there's no reason Monroville can't replace the voice himself once he has the voice clips from the Red Letter guy. Then there will be 2 versions. The more the merrier.

Right now I'm more concerned with getting the rest of it off and up-loaded. And I guess, finding a new place for part 16. Maybe I'll throw that trailer in its place, and then post a link on that page to a vimeo or megavideo, then most of the movie would be together.

As for working with the whole movie, we were able to rip a complete sound file of the movie, but unfortunately it contains no voices.

I sent Red Letter Media an email a while ago but have not heard back. Do they just send you recordings, or how does that work?

Good news, and bad news:

The good: we were able to get Scene 16, and this weird trailer. (Told ya we'd eventually get to it.) Now if we can only get the big finale scene at the end which has the "Do Not Want."

The bad: Scene 16 is blocked on You Tube. Is it me, or is You Tube starting to suck these days? Way more commercials and junk, it's like having to swat a mosquito every time you want to watch something. Maybe it's been that way for a while. Anyway I have no idea what to do about that but would be happy to present it elsewhere. At least you can watch the trailer "Hero's Ground Rebeled."

Looks like some people find Yoda funnier this way.

Comments from Part 8:

I don't think people should have such high hopes for the voice acting of yoda in a reverse translated version of a movie. I think the voice adds? to the absurdity, making this already lulzy video even better.

As an impression, the Yoda voice doesn't match the film. But that's fine - the key thing here is whether? the intonation stands up on its own. There's a reason that Frank Oz pulls in the big bucks. I was initially surprised by the Yoda voice, but I think it works fine.

I tend to agree it doesn't really matter if it sounds like the original guy. Yoda sounds even more pathetic and diminutive this way, which makes it more funny. As far as the emporer, isn't that what he actually sounds like? (Except maybe not as British.) And no offense, but "Poochy the Dog says: "Kids, always engage in political debate... TO THE EXTREME!!" sounds, uh... kind of nerdy. Glass houses.

Wow, 1300 views yesterday, this is kinda taking off! It could go sub-viral.

Does anyone know how to load a (home, private, legal) copy of Episode 3 into Vegas 7 without the first VOB file totally corrupting? That's one of the reasons it took so long to post some of those early parts, the video played about twice as fast as the audio and had to be streched out. I ask, because it's never going to look right if we're just guestimating how it synchs up.

If no one wants to do it, that's also fine. I should be getting together with my friend soon- next week or 2.

Monroville: what's a Star Trek nerd, I mean isn't that kind of "pot to kettle" on a Star Wars fan fiction site? I don't have to look to far into these topics to be thinking "nerd." Is there a Star Wars vs. Star Trek nerd thread somewhere?
