Any Guitarists out there?
Time
Thanks for the help.

The thing about my favorite guitarist, Brian May, is that he built his own guitar.

My first plan was to simply buy the Brian May Signature Series Red Special, but they end up being around 1300 including shipping and with the crazy exchange rates. I'd like one that can achieve a similar style to his red special, without spending over a grand in a perfect world.

Any Guitarists out there?
Time
I was looking into getting my first electric guitar, but I'm having a hard time choosing.

I'm going to play your standard rock(Queen, etc), some funk, and some newer alternative punk on it, so I need something pretty versatile.

I was looking at the Standard Telecaster and the Epiphone Les Paul Standard, leaning towards the Telecaster(I can always get better pickups).

Any suggestions on a beginner's guitar? I'm looking to spend at or less than 500.

Thanks!

Turntables
Time
I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions regarding modern turntables? I can't spend TOO much money, especially on my college budget.

I'm planning on buying many of my favorite albums on vinyl, and would like something other than a crappy-ass Fisher-Price record player which is the only thing I have at the moment.

How do you find the time to watch so much anime?!

Most otaku I've seen spend more time fantasizing about the women in the anime rather than watching the anime itself.

Anime watchers are dirty dirty perverts and should be shot.

The "Random Thoughts" Thread
Time
I've also been doing alot of thinking these days, two weeks into my first semester of college, home for labor day. I've been re-evaluating many parts of my life, I guess you'd say, especially my past and my present.

After much musing over the past, I realized, of course, that the only thing I can change now is the present.

I've realized that I need some sort of overhaul, and I'm starting to try and change my set-in ways so my future isn't as lackluster as my past. Its hard, but very possible.

I know this sounds lame, but I hate how twisted Star Wars has become because of merchandising.

I remember at CIII I literally felt sick to my stomach watching all of these people standing in line for hours upon hours simply buying merchandise, and how most of the panels were situated around some sort of merchandise and collecting.

Throughout that whole convention, I literally felt like I had wasted my entire childhood almost religiously devoted to something that in the end only boils down to this corporate monstrosity only turning out thousands of rabid 'collectors' only there to buy stuff and turn a profit on it later on ebay. Not to say that I don't have a good bit of collectibles, of course, but I dunno, I just felt somehow betrayed while I sat in my hotel room in Greenwood, Indiana after each day.

Only after watching the films a week or so later, after living in a funk, did I remember exactly why I spent so much of my early life enamored with Star Wars.
