YouTube Premiere will begin on July 13th at 3 PM EST. I suggest setting a reminder if you want to see it live!
This will be awesome!
I do wonder how far into the restoration it’s at…
I’ve been getting a lot of PMs about people wanting access to the folder. If you didn’t already have access before from donating I’m not going to give access unless it’s someone working on the project directly. I will not be handing out downloads for many reasons so please don’t ask. If you have donated and can’t access the folder for some reason I will make sure to fix that, but please do not clutter my DMs with download requests if you haven’t contributed anything to the project
Where’s the link where I can donate?
Also, this looks amazing!
What’s the plan for this when it’s finished? Is this going to be shared publicly or is this for donors only?
I plan to share it publicly. Hopefully as a YouTube upload with Kineko Video and 100% on Archive.org . As of now I’m only keeping proxies and raw scans private to donors because I wouldn’t want to release an unfinished project publicly. But once a finished restoration comes about I will release both the raw scan and restoration for archival. I wouldn’t want any of this projects work becoming lost and I want as many people possible to see it (and maybe even encourage Disney to release their own).
PS: I will also look into possibility of having the scans stored on a LTO Tape. I know someone who owns a LTO set up and 100% want this archived on something reliable and not just hard drives
Where can I donate?
I think you can also (if you like to) get in touch with FemboyFilms on YouTube and Twitter for some assistance. He just came out with a fully restored version of “Super Mario Bros. - The Great Mission to Rescue Princess Peach!” from 16MM film

Just discovered this today but-
I’m super, super… SUPER excited for this!
Okay, my 1080p upscale of the PAL DVD (synced to the NTSC 5.1 audio) is available by PM. Here is an album of frames from the film so you can get a sense of what to expect: https://photos.app.goo.gl/Cu6UBCCqG7nrD7GbA. I’m pretty happy with how it came out. At times it nearly looks like native HD.
Excellent upscale. This one’s a keeper. 😄
My simple PAL Video/NTSC Audio Remix and my 1080p AI upscale will be available soon. Here is a comparison shot:
https://imgsli.com/OTExMTM/0/1The upscaling process scrubs a lot of grain so in the upscaled version I added a fine 35mm grain plate overlayed at 60% opacity. Should I go even heavier on the regraining? (Go full screen for a better look)
I have a coarser grain plate available, and/or I can increase the opacity. I’m just hesistant to add too much.
Moley Holy, That upscale looks tremendous! And in my personal opinion, this looks good for me.
Just wanted to let everyone know I’m going to attempt a preservation of this movie, which I have fond memories of from childhood. I just purchased the UK DVD off Amazon UK (spent too much but what are you going to do). I’m going to attempt to sync it to the US DVD 5.1 audio and then upscale to 1080p using Topaz VEAI.
I noticed the US DVD is 29.97 fps so there must be some kind of pulldown going on. To sync to the PAL video to the audio, does anyone know if I should aim for 23.976 fps or 24 on the dot?
30 FPS is normally the standard for TV Broadcasts. I would consider going with 24 FPS (In my opinion) because it gives the cinematic look to it and it fits more into a movie than anything else.
If this makes any sense to anyone…

I did a quick encode to clean up chroma artifacts and decimate to NTSC on the German DVD and synced it up with Hifi VHS audio from the 91 VHS release. I think I did a decent job. Of course, Stereo LaserDisc audio would be superior.
Is the DVD surround sound not good?
Would we say this form is done for?
So I’ve loved this movie since I was a kid. Unfortunately the dvd is pretty poor quality. So I’ve taken up the task of doing a restoration of this classic, as well as collecting the actual items that inspired the characters. I’ve already ripped the dvd and unconverted it to 1080p. About to finish my first render to see what adjustments I need to make.
Now that I would love to see.
I did do a little form of an attempt (Years ago…) of taking some of the US DVD audio, speed down the UK DVD that surfaced, fix where the audio blacks out from the UK Release…
But again, this was mostly because I wanted to get it done quickly so I can quickly give a review for the movie.
The UK release seems to be the best quality as far as I can see… Using a fresh transfer while the US release uses the LaserDics release…
Hey there, I was sorta thinking of starting a potential restoration on a film and I’d like to know what’s the best tools to use for a restoration?
A restoration I’m thinking of doing is on The Brave Little Toaster from 1987…
I must say. This restoration is pretty awesome! 😃
Starfx has been working on his own restoration of The Brave Little Toaster with me. But, for some reason, he hasn’t been answering my many messages to him over the past month, even though I know he’s had recent activity on OT.com.
…and this is what happens when you don’t take the advice I gave to you seriously
You get BANNED.
Not surprised, really.
Just noting how I have been looking at my NTSC-DVD copy and… Good Lord! I hate Variable Frame Rate (VFR) DVD’s!
Syncing with other sources is a Female Dog!
I know the feeling…

I have synched it to the 5.1 mix from the American DVD which lined up perfectly with the audio.
You do know the American DVD has censored audio, right?
Censored? How so?
