Unpopular opinion: Despite his unreasonable 0/10 ranking of Rogue One, I find Mala’s opinions to be interesting and fun to read.

I give it 2/10 now ! (don’t ask me why… maybe because I feel no SW should deserve 0… and I like the soundtrack, the visual, and even if it doesn’t make much sense at a story level, the Vader’s big scene is brillant).

Rogue One’s story doesn’t make much sense?!! WHAT THE FUCK! I’m gonna have to leave this forum because of the goddamn stupidity that you assholes spew from your shit-holes!!

Roughly this:
1 TESB
2 ANH
3 ROTJ
4 ROTS
5-7 TPM, AOTC and TFA (in release order)

Lunacy.

When was the last time you actually watched the PT? I watched them all over the past few weeks, including ROTS last night. We watched L8wrtr’s versions, so the worst of them is removed…and they’re still not good movies. I don’t have a problem if you didn’t like TFA, but equating them with the PT makes me wonder how well you remember the PT.

I assure you I highly dislike the PT, as both movies and part of the SW canon, but there are equally pros and cons in both the PT and TFA: I consider all of them mediocre, but each one of them for very different reasons.

Therein lies the problem. If you think TFA is mediocre, I disagree but I allow you that opinion. If you think the PT is only mediocre, I think that’s poor judgement or maybe just a failure to remember. Again, when was the last time you saw the PT?

I don’t know why people puts the force awakens up on such a high pedestal. Name me one damn thing in it that’s actually original?

The movie was fun and stuff. Not great, not bad.

Until they killed the entire film by adding in one of the most shallow characters from the entire franchise. I don’t care at all about what happened in the shows. Darth Maul is dead, even more dead than the prequels are to me.

I like Darth Maul. He only appears “shallow” because George Lucas didn’t really give him much to do in The Phantom Menace.

That bunch of crazy kids working out of a warehouse in Van Nuys pioneering the FX tech that will rule the next two decades on impossible deadlines were only human. 😃
Artoo’s panels were black because the blue ones would have been transparent in front of the blue screen.

I know how awesome FX guys are. 😉 Having said that George Lucas could’ve fixed R2’s panels and the Y-Wings having no droids in the Special Edition of Star Wars and he didn’t. He’s a turd.

Solo is on top of the worldwide box office and it’s a flop?! WOW! Explain that one to me.

Is this sarcasm?

I hope it is, because the movie landed on its face, under-performed like crazy and continues to make less and less money.
It has a shot at maybe having some domestic legs (Incredibles 2 and JW2 aren’t gonna let that happen, but for the sake of argument), but it has flopped hard overseas and if history serves it isn’t likely to magically pick up.

When Disney themselves and crew members are acknowledging it, there’s a real issue.

Given the inflated production costs due to re-shooting almost the entire film you’re probably looking at 600 mill to break even.
Breaking even isn’t good enough.

I like the film but it has flopped. I wish it didn’t, but it has.

We’re basically seeing a Justice League 2.0 at the box office.

Yeah it won’t make a billion dollars so it’s a complete failure. Aside from that I do believe that Solo could’ve made way more money if Disney just waited and put the movie out in December instead of May.

I thought there were and they did?

JEDIT:Artoo’s panels are still black in the DS battle, but I always thought they turned black when in outer space for some reason.

And dead Artoo still has black panels when Luke returns to the base, supporting my theory. 😉

There must be a reason the Y-wings don’t have R2 units? Even the Kenner die cast toy has one.

I swear photos I’ve seen of the original models have them, but they could have been added later?

The design of the Y-Wing cockpits would make it impossible to see the R2 units behind the pilot even if they were there.

Not having droids in the backs of the Y-Wings during the Battle of Yavin is of course quite a glaring mistake that I wish wouldn’t have happened in the first place along with R2-D2’s black panels out in space in Star Wars.

Rogue One is NOT a movie about individual characters anyway it’s way more about the collective sacrifice.

But suicide mission plots exist elsewhere, they’ve been done. With characters. Or are you saying that ensemble cast movies don’t need characters? What are you saying?

There’s characters in Rogue One. You might not like them but they’re there.

With all the talk about how there’s no character development in Rogue One I have to laugh and say that there wasn’t any character development in the original Star Wars movie. Yep, that’s right, there was a lot of critics back in 1977 that said that the characters in Star Wars were boring and bland and that the movie moves along too quickly that you can’t really get to know the characters at all. You see boys and girls you can’t put these movies on a Shakespearean pedestal.
