Is it possible to properly remove the “all” from both the lines of dialogue in that final exchange between Palpatine and Rey to make the dialogue less clunky, without suddenly skipping a couple of frames or anything?

I think it’s possible to do. Give me a bit and I’ll post a link of it. Kinda distracted by USA news… 😳

You said you were going to do this edit?

I am not having her use a mind trick on the guard, as my original post explains that she doesn’t even know what that is. I am hoping I can find a way to cut this into a scene of her simply concentrating on her bindings and using the force to spring them open. I find that much more believable for a neophyte force user to achieve rather than using a very dominating mind trick.

Let alone how to use it (properly).

Would it be possible to have Luke not ignite his green lightsaber on Kylo? I have seen some impressive edits of this on YouTube where the green glow is removed from Kylo and his eyes. Kylo wakes up, sees Luke hovering with his lightsaber out and looking distraught, and then Ben “turns on him” and Luke defends. I think this will help greatly to “re-characterize” Luke in the film and make Ben’s decision more his own. The whole “pulling a weapon on my unarmed nephew” is still something a lot of fans struggle with.

As much as I disagree with the concept of Luke thinking about killing Ben, it has to stay. It’s supposed to show him making a mistake that results in Ben’s fall. The change I would suggest is make it seem more “instinctual,” since the visuals frame it as Luke consciously slowly pulling out the lightsaber, standing there and igniting it, as much as I disagree with Rian’s notion that Luke is instinctively murderous, too.

Since Snoke=Palpatine, is it possible to remove his mention of bridging their minds? If Palpatine was controlling Snoke then why would their connection be a surprise?! Removing Snoke inconsistences is key to making a more cohesive trilogy

Snoke is not really a VR headset for Palpatine to play on, he’s more of his own person who listens to Palpatine.

THE SACRED JEDI TEXTS!!! I think the lines between Yoda/Luke, “ahh, read them have you? Page turners they were not!” Needs to go. It makes Luke seem like he didn’t even read/study the books, but then in TROS we find out Luke did study them and annotated them. I suggest, “Luke: The Sacred Jedi Texts! Yoda: Yes, yes. Wisdom they held…”

This helps us accept the notion that Rey apparently learned Force heal from the books.

Removed lightspeed skipping sequence. It made no sense given how hyperspace has always been depicted, as quick travel, not teleportation.

The planets are very clearly that close to each other, so no it isn’t depicted as teleportation. The sequence is still unnecessary, though, as Poe’s recklessness can be inferred from the Falcon breaking through the ice.

On a different note, while I never cared much for the Mary Sue accusations levied against Rey, there is actually one instance in TFA where I think it’s true, and that’s her breaking herself out of prison with a Jedi mind trick. Is there a way to make Han, Finn, and Chewy responsible for her escape? Maybe Phasma orders Rey be brought to her at gunpoint?

I always figured it was ok because (1) Ren had just told Snoke she, tho untrained, was powerful in the Force, and (2) he had JUST tried to do something like that to her.

In TLJ she described the Force specifically as a power Jedi had to control people, so maybe she already had heard enough rumors of the Jedi mind tricks by this point to realize if she had the Force, she could do that too.

  1. The mind trick is not the same as Kylo Ren’s Force probe, in terms of how to use it properly.

  2. Okay, but that doesn’t mean Rey should know how to use the mind trick.
