Maybe these guys could collaborate with Ady for Death Star II space Battle

OMG! I literally just found this and came to comment, haha. But, if all this talent ever came together to do something with Adywan… I think they would redefine unlimited power.

So, the Death Star Plans are not going to be the same as was shown in AOTC? The original plans look consistent to the concept Death Star. The AOTC’s Death Star Plans were more accurate to what we saw…

I wish that the plans could stay the same, but unfortunately Rogue One used the original version, so it has to be like that for continuity’s sake.

I just hope there aren’t too many changes to coincide with Rouge One… If that happens, to me this would just be 90% Rouge One, and 10& ANH. IMO…

I wouldn’t worry too much, the changes aren’t going to affect the story. Some of it is just undoing changes from the original ANH:R that were contradicted by Rogue One.

I feel like you could get away with an improved version of the plans, somewhere between the og ANH:R and RO. As RO only shows the plans for a second, as they are uploaded, the flickering zoom, and death star detail could be altered (In ANH not RO).
If Ady kept the white dot like style, then have the display pan in and have the details appear as it does, (like the og ANH:R) and also make it look less like the trench runs through the laser.

I also hope he keeps the Holo display, as RO proved that that table could do it, but maybe make it flicker/have the bands and a bit more blue tinted (also maybe do this in ROTJ:R).

Anikin, the Emperor & Obi-Wan are all much older than they look in my personal canon.
As the Revisited series takes nothing into account besides the OT, his age is no issue at all.

First of sorry. I am just a guy that found something cool, and though it might be useful. I didn’t realise it would upset so few of you, so much.

There is a B1 Battle-droid head that disagrees greatly with what you’ve said. Also, a number. Number IV. Ady has also said that multiple times that he doesn’t plan to directly contradict the PT with this edit, and is even changing the end of the film to set up the ST (despite how that turned out). So to claim that this is an OT only edit, only fits with your “personal cannon”, one I couldn’t care less about contradicting.

When Adywan started this edit he said it was “What the special editions should have been”. A spiritual successor of what should have been an edit that would tie the OT and PT together, but by improving on the original rather than destroying it. I think if Ady were going to make this a definitive OG is the only trilogy kind of edit, then he would have planned a bunch of edits for the PT. And before you say yes I do realize he’s not longer planning on continuing with them, but there are already legacy forums in place to take that responsibility on when he releases his notes.

I’m not a prequel fan but, I am foolish. A foolish dreamer, who still has hope they could have been great, and maybe still could be. Hell, I’m so naive I even have a ST rewrite in the works.

Someone who was 1 when they were filming should not be in the movie.

I mean if I had it my way, David Prowse (the man beneath who was truly the mask) would be at the end, but there just isn’t the right bit of footage to put him there. But Shaw is to old and just doesn’t look like Anakin.

Idk how this was done, but I gotta say it looks like the best of both worlds when it comes to the force Ghost issue. This one is obviously a bit over done, he looks like 90 rather than 45 (also wow why did they have Sebastian Shaw playing him, I know that the prequels we got were very different to how they were imagined based on what we hear and see in the OG trilogy but still, he was even older than Alec Guinness) but toned down a bit I think this would work as both Anakin being the man how died on the DSII and link back to the prequels as Shaw just doesn’t resemble him at all.

Did either of you actually read my comment? This fixes both issues and makes for a very pleasant compromise.

Its not like Shaw even looked like himself under Vader makeup so either way you’re asking the audience to draw a connection based on context rather than what the guy looks like.

Have him say, “Padme once thought as you do”.

You can use “Padme” from ROTS when he asks the Emperor about her. It’s loud and deep, and Luke should know his mother’s first name.

The issue is that the audience doesn’t know her fist name (depending on the viewing order at least) and it locks line into only making sense if you watch the prequels, which some people don’t like to do. More over the audience doesn’t know Luke knows, she is a mystery in to him. He ask Leia about her because he knows nothing and Luke’s reaction isn’t great enough for someone who has just found out his mother’s name. In context it would also make more sense for Vader to say “your mother” as it is father to son talk.

I’m not sure if this has been suggested yet or not, but what about Vader saying to Luke “Your mother once thought as you do” instead of “Obi-Wan once thought as you do”. I think that would be pretty impactful.

It has, here is a couple of tests people have tried out.

To mean they never sounded deep enough, I don’t mean in pitch, but like the depth of sound, but I don’t think you can fix that without going back in time and recording James Earl Jones slamming someones mumma.

Adywan, would you still be willing to consider having the lightsabers glow for ROTJ:R?

I don’t think you realize how difficult it is to create a new light source and not have it look fake. The thing with the new movies is that they had LED light sabers on set that actually lit the actors and scene IRL. That just wasn’t possible back in the 70-80s so there is no lighting reference.
Although it would be cool and you might be able to use a red or blue or green filter to get close to that affect, I don’t believe it would hold up. Lighting is such a tricky area in VFX because, your eyes are so used to seeing real lighting that they can easily tell something is fake if anything is even slightly off.

It would be cool to add more types of ships to the Battle of Endor. Don’t know if you’ve finished the visuals for that battle, but adding Interdictors, Victory-Class Star Destroyers, and Y-Wings would make the battle grander. Also TIE Defenders and maybe TIE Advanceds would be awesome.

Ady already answered this, and said he wouldn’t, I think it was like 20-30 pages ago. So it probably won’t happen.

I don’t think it’s any more “open ended” than the original ending.
What it does do is end the film on a more serious, reflective & emotional scene than the Ewok boogie.
I couldn’t care any less how it ties in to the ST, It’s just a better fitting end to the trilogy.

You miss understand. Its not that I don’t like the idea of ending the trilogy on the pyre scene, it sounded great when i heard it. And I to have no love left for ST, but I know there are some who do, and I was simply respecting that in my reasoning. But an added note you have I’m not sure if that scene would work, it may not feel organic if it is incorporated, and the cinematography may not match that of the rest of ROTJ. But it was an idea I thought I’d share.

Also I might note that “serious, reflective & emotional” ending was already used on ESBR, and is intended as a foreshadowing of sorts for the unknown struggles to come. But that only works if you are going to follow it up with ST content, which is something I am willing to bet a lot (though not all) will not be doing.
However, the Luke/Leia scene could work for both sides of that equation.

Adywan, in your full list of changes you’ve put:
“Have a small portion of the Ewok celebration which then leads to the funeral pyre scene. This is where the Force Ghosts will appear and the film will end with Luke being alone (which in turn foreshadows TFA).”

And I was just wondering where the stance is on that now. After TLJ/TROS, I know I’m not sure about how to feel when it comes to the sequel trilogy. I liked TFA, but it didn’t stand on its own and kind of hung on ANH/the promise of solid sequels but, given the disjointed nature of that trilogy… idk.
The real reason I ask is because, if that sort of open-ended ending was still part of you’re plan, then…

Spoilers for Rise of Skywalker

Could that new scene of Luke training Leia work as an alternative ending. It would still require trimming down the celebration and I’m not sure whether the pyre scene would work better where it is rn or just before the new scene, but I can imagine that scene fitting in there. I feel it would work well to act as a pay off to the whole “there is another” and give the whole siblings plot an actual conclusion, rather than just drama. It would also work for “haters” and fans of the Sequels alike, and would give credibility to certain controversial plot points that felt forced due to them having no setup.

Overall I believe it would add to the movie, and Star Wars saga, as (for some) the final movie in the saga, would end with Luke fulfilling his role of teaching the next generation of Jedi. The ‘Return Of The Jedi’.

I’m not sure if anyone has brought this up. Its bound to be controversial but, is there any footage from ‘Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure’/‘Ewoks: The Battle for Endor’ that could be useful to supplement the Endor scenes.

Its very likely the footage is too low quality and idk if there are any “good quality” sources for it out there. But it might have useful shots/clips of Ewoks or the forest in there. It would be unsurprising if its a no, though.

Am i the only one that doesn’t like that ANH ends in an awards ceremony? Ever since i was young it bothered me how much Anh feels like an independent film. I’ve always thought it would/could be cool if they celebrated in the hangar. With some how Leia’s line “Its not over yet” maybe appearing. Then cutting back to Vaders ship that we last see leaving the scene of the Death star. Now arriving at the fleet of Star Destoyers and possibly his super star Destroyer from ESB. (Could even use the unused footage of Vader leaving cloud city and boarding his ship with replacing vaders fighter ship). Vader boards his destroyer. We see him enter the hologram room. Sidious’s face pops up, no words spoken. Then the fade out and credit music.

Maybe a nice way to tie it to the next 2 films?

While I can agree that the Ceremony has always been cheesy, Idk that revealing all the set-ups to ESB would improve it, and I certainly don’t think that showing the emperor as early as ANH would improve the series. You could have it end on some sort of more foreboding shot but all I can think is that it would either clash with the score, or you would loose that wonderful piece entirely. Its a bit of a close choice and I personally can’t tell which is the better option.

Hear me out on this one.

R2-D2 is basically a sentient Swiss Army knife. We see him use all sorts of appendages, sometimes for plot purposes, sometimes for the sake of a quick gag (fire extinguisher, anybody?).

When R2-D2 is serving drinks on the sail barge, they missed an obvious opportunity to depict him with a corkscrew attachment, or at the very least a bottle-opener for someone to crack open a cold one on.

Any chance of a one-second cutaway during the sail barge sequence to correct this glaring omission?

Tbh, that sounds like it would be right out if space balls or any spoof rather than a real SW movie and considering how close ROTJ already is to being one. I don’t think adding more things like this would improve the issue.

Seeing those new images of the escape pod got me thinking about that whole hold your fire bit. I know there has been some debate about it and I don’t want to retread old ground but looking back I could see that any consensus hand been reach so here’s my idea anyway. If you don’t know there has been people that are annoyed/confused by the line “Hold you fire, there are no life signs”, when a gunner sees an escape pod leaving the Tantive IV. The issue is over why the gunner would’t just shoot it immediately instead of asking permission to shoot and why the Officer would have him hold is fire. I mean it not like it would waste ammo or something.
So what i was thinking is that instead of just the one escape pod being sent all of them leave, some of which containing people. Then the gunner can be prompted to “target the ones with life signs” leaving a couple to fall to the planet. That way they prioritize neutralizing potential witnesses rather than just not bothering to shoot the pod. This also means that there could be several empty pods that land on Tatooine giving a bit more weight to the trooper fining the right pod and again making the Empire look less slow and incompetent.
Idk if you would have to re-dub the line or extend it, if you had more than one empty pod (which you don’t have to I just feel it would be more realistic) then you would also have to edit the line later when the Officer reports to Vader about the pod. You could make wit work by having the officer’s line be changed to “several escape pods” and then Vader’s to “in AN escape pod”, but I understand that would involve changing a lot of line, so it may make more sense to keep to only one pod reaching the planet.
