I think he posted them at some point on one of his threads for the SE edits. I remember watching them. But idk if they’re still up.

I like the idea of using Respeecher to fix all lines of boba fett except the new take hal9000 found of as you wish is pretty much perfect and that program is amazing and can improve the rest.

Excuse My ignorance but what is “Respeecher” and how does it work to fix dialog?

Respeecher is a sound editing tool that is able to recreate the voices of anyone regardless of the source audio recording’s quality. It was used to recreate the voice of a 40-years-younger Mark Hamill in The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett, and a 40-years-younger James Earl Jones in the Obi-Wan Kenobi series.

Anyone tried this on that “You’re mother” line people were going on about in the ROTJ:R thread a couple of years ago?

I know a lot of people come on here and they like to complain, bellyache and feel entitled to other peoples hard work. I just want to say a heartfelt Thank You to Adywan and the other contributors to this project for tireless work. (Also for putting up with some insufferable dregs in this thread). I’ve been following this thread for years and years and will for a long time!! Cant wait for the next evolution of the project.

I know that not everybody is exactly on board with the Kenobi show, but it is what it is and it’s canon.
So, what about adding some burnt blasters next to the corpses of uncle Owen and aunt Beru? Just to give them a bit more satisfying end.

Not needed. We already know what happened to them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqF_CVQ_U_I

Is this the k.k. Garbage people keep saying about the Star Wars she does or is that hyperbole?

What are you talking about?

Talking about current Star Wars like the obi wan show.

That has its own thread, stop bloating this one please.

Sorry adywan brought up how he hates the obi wan show and that’s why I brought up the k.k. stuff that’s all.

Speciffically how it was potaining as to how it would affect his edit and as that was not at all, I’d say it was obviously not an invitation to talk about why anyone does or doesn’t like it.

Isnt he already doing that though?
Remove droid torture in Jabba’s Palace
Remove “Jedi Rocks” and the additions of the Special Edition in that scene
Remove the slapstick Ewok moments during the battle
Add more rebel troop action to Endor ground battle
Larger ground and space battle
Remove Chewie’s Tarzan yell
New Boba Fett death
Remove many of C-3P0’s “Ric Olie/ captain obvious” lines
etc etc

This is true but I beleive this is becuase, unlike the first two which had simple plots and themes that kids could follow, ROTJ had more “kid moments”. Which could be fine however, there is A LOT of them. So many they tend to happen before and after major emotional/plot heavy moments. This juxtapose tends to pull everyone out of the story including kids (which I can atest to, having been one not to long ago, I grew up with the prequals).

They seemed intent that kids would find the plot boring or that perants/censors would not like their kids seeing “dark” moments, so put a something jokie in there to soften the blow. But ROTJ was the movie remembered least of growing up (except perhaps AotC) with RotS and ANH coming in first. RotJ just never stuck and I tended to zone out.

To be clear I’m not arguing the movie should be “dark” or more serious but just that I think Adywan is seeking to remove most out of place humorous moments that don’t fit the tone of the scene they are in/before/after.

TLDR: Even though SW movies was designed so that kid could watch them (“for kids”) RotJ might have gone to far by following the trend of ‘Kids are too stupid to follow plot so, “fun moments” are needed everywhere!’

Also George Famously discovered the delights of toy sales…

There is no ‘twist’ in ESB. It’s no longer 1980 and there’s children just born that already know. Besides episode III is set first so anybody watching will already know who Vader is.

Thanks for letting us know that we should just ignore everything you’re saying.

Arntan you aren’t wrong. In the world of social media we live in today future generation will likely know from a very early age that Vader is Luke’s father. It’s something that people know even when they have never seen Star Wars.
However…
“SPOILERS”
Should Lord of the Rings star with a disclamer saying that Frodo go to Middle Earth heaven at the end of RotK?
What would be the point in watching sixth sence if the movie said Bruce Willi was a ghost in the first line?

Yes, you may already know the plot twist is coming and what it is. But hey, you still watch the movie anticipating the at moment.
Your ideas aren’t to be ignored, but this edit does have very clear goals, and the secret of Luke’s father remaining intact is one of them. And he has already said its staying ‘Darth’ which is fair enough any, way you look at it because he has a lot to do, two whole edits do.

TLDR: Just because people know the twist, doesn’t mean its meaningless. I’d suggest reading the first page of this edit before making suggestsions because they have value, just maybe not suited to this edit.

Although I don’t think it’s necessary, seeing Guiness’ “Anakin” from ROTJ dubbed in place over the “Darth” would be an interesting excercise for sure. The mouth would have to be animated a little extra

Yeah if it was going to be used done at all it would need to be “Vader” not “Anakin”.

I think ANH is the only SW soundtrack where he doesn’t use a choir, same with it being the only one without the imperial march, so i think having one track appear with the choir would help it blend with the other films better.

Fair enough. Now more than ever I know how og fans must have felt in the lead up to TPM.

Very cool. The second audio track will that will have music playing during this scene (which I beleive will be Battle of the Heros) will I think be a much better fit with the fast pacing. One think I was wondering will it be a straight lift of the version from RotS or will you be using a instrumental version. I was wondering this as John Williams never used a chior in an of the ANH score so I felt that I could help it mesh more.

I also agree about the Darth thing, but its not bothered me until it was just pointed out.

If I remember correctly Adywan did consider doing it and did some testing but it was too much work for something that ultimatly looked worse than no glow.

Really I’m surprised because a fan did the glow for the prequels lightsabers on YouTube and it looked great.

This video?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3dkGJxercO4

The ambient glow only works when the subject is fully lit, like in that video. Try doing it during the carbon chamber duel and it is impossible unless you recreate each character using CG & 100% match their moves because there is no visual information on Vader (especially his helmet) for the most part & other areas of each character. I did many test and decided it’s just not worth all the work, especially when so many shots would be impossible to convincingly add any ambient glow.

And there will be no HDR/ Dolby Vision colour grade. I see people ask this a lot, along with asking for a Dolby Atmos sound mix. I’m just a guy working on a home PC and not in a fully equipped professional studio. I just don;t have the facilities to be able to do things like this.

Too bad about the limitations I understand wish it was possible for it to be done. also no worries on it not having a hdr grade it would be nice but if you don’t have a way to it you don’t have a way to do it. Then the only questions I have is is it possible to increase the gb to 50gb that way it isn’t suffering from compression issues or is that not possible. Would a deepfake of the return of the Jedi version of palpatine work in empire strikes back revisited if anyone attempted to do it or is that not technically possible for anyone. also is there a way to deepfake the empire strikes back vader voice for the movies and shows where James Earl Jones sounds off like rogue one. Oh I almost forgot my last question is it possible for you to update the cgi shots that actually were good in the original trilogy with something like unreal engine 5 like cloud city the return of the Jedi celebration etc.

I know the answers to some of what you’ve asked. As far as ROTJ Emperor in ESB:R Adywan has already achieved that through other means which are probably more affective than a Deepfake as deepfakes are often is difficult/time consuming to make temporaly stable. Edits outside the original Trilogy are beyond the scope of what Adywan has planned or is planing to do (as far as I know he doesn’t want to be 90 and still working on these edits) But voice deepfakes are even more challenging than video ones as inflection and tone and such is currently impossible for AI to interprate so what ever you get out of it will be either dead pan or inconsitant. Lastly as has been said quite often in the past (though i understand there are many, many pages to look through) Adywan is making some tweaks to shots digitally but from what I can tell most of them are through compisting techniques not full CG in rendering engines. And he is not keeping the celebration changes from the SE for a number of reasons that (I believe) some of which are laid out in his first post.

Hope that helps.

Yes

Impressive, most imp- But seriously very cool, IDK how well that will translate to all shots in the films but still cool.

Okay, cus I might be dumb could anyone clarify. Does Adywan mean there will be no significant changes (other than fixes) to the Trench run (from the Blu Ray version) or will there still be New additonal spacecraft and battle stuff in the back ground of existing shots (with the orginal pacing intact)?

Also totally get why people loved the whole extened Battle but the orginal pacing was much better and 100% agree with you Ady, you are as always awesome.

Obviously don’t have a clue what Adywan is plannig, but I’d say best option would be to keep the OG style of plans but tweak them slightly so that the dish is allined correctly. That way it won’t be unfaithful to the orginal it will still play well with the Rogue One version and it will look more plausable in terms of consistancy with the rest of the film. (it will actually look like the death star)

Yes, sorry.
On another note something noticed about the throne room duel was how Luke hits his lightsaber off of almost every object in the room and it bounces off all of them without leaving a scratch.
Perhaps adding some sort of saber scaring/glow could be in order.

I was very unsure about adywan’s decition to give Boba Fett a new, finalised death scene given that he would now be returning very much alive. However, after watching what I just watched I have come to the conclusion that Boba Fett died in 1983 and fully support Adywan making sure he stays that way. Very much looking forward to seeing that happen.

The first shot inside the deathstar control room with tarkin facing the screen would be better to remove Alderaan entirely and outer space have a graphic or readouts… The reason being if Alderaan is on the screen why is Leia so surprised when he says “home planet of Alderaan” as if it was not there already. This was meant to be a “reveal” Leia looks stupid. It’s not your fault but it could be better to hear the sound of screen changing then cut to viewscreen with Alderaan in orbit.

I don’t this that would fix the issue as Admiral Motti litterally says they have entered the Alderaan system quite clearly as Leia walks up to Tarkin. I also don’t feel like she is surprised by them being at her “home planet of Alderaan” I think its more the “I have chosen to test this station’s destructive power on your home planet of Alderaan” bit, that she was upset about.
Personally I don’t this is an issue the way it already is.

I wouldn’t attempt going at the Tatooine Sandstorm sequence as that scene IMO is unnecessary, but I might go ahead at it for the sake of it.

Haha, I love how awful that sanstorm is and how those guys are just having a chat, but then in Phantom menace a lil bit of dust blows around an they all need to take shelter.
Its something I’m hoping to mimic in a prequal edit if I ever get around to it, but that scene I agree is redundent, its just an alternate version of the scene where they all split up, teh dialog is the same. I would say tho that of any scene I which was added into ROTJ its something where Luke returns to his Aunt and Uncle’s or at least Ben’s as its odd he wouldn’t want to at least see them as he is on his home world. It could also be an exelent tie into why he arrives late or a clue as to where he gets his cristal and saber design (Obi Wan’s house).
Sadly I don’t think those shots could be cobbled together with the limited amount of clean footage, so I doubte its within the scope of any Fan Edit. Still nice to dream though.
