STAR WARS: EP V &quot;REVISITED EDITION&quot;<strong>ADYWAN</strong> - <strong>AVAILABLE NOW</strong>

It boiled down to it being too much work for an effect that wasn’t entirely convincing all the time, in both cases (especially the icy breath one). Less that it would take too long to do and more that no matter how many different ways it was tried, it always looked at least slightly “off.”

Ok, I apologize. I take back what I said.

If it was all about the amount of time it would’ve taken then, sincerely no offense but honestly, you as a forum made a bad decision.

I was going to clarify 005’s statement since it’s not 100% accurate to my memory, but after reading this, nevermind. Someone else can bother.

I wasn’t around for a majority of the discussions of ESB:R while it was being made so whatever the reason for it was please clarify it for me. A better explanation might make me recant that previous statement.

Here are some screenshot comparisons showing the differences between the ANH color regrade and the previous ANH:R version. The shots shown from ANH:R are of ones that don’t have effects done besides CC.

I’ll be posting more of these soon.

To not spoil the Regrade for those who haven’t seen it, I’ll only be posting images from the shots that adywan had already posted images from.

Great! Back to the original!

Now that this has been announced, I’m curious about what the changes will be for ANH:RHD that aren’t listed here

https://swrevisited.wordpress.com/2011/04/09/ars-details/

Does anyone have any info? I know during the the Battle of Having the additional scene of the TIE fighters arriving while the Imperial March plays will be removed.

I wonder if anyone has noticed this.

During the scene in the MF while escaping Tatooine from the Empire, Chewie isn’t wearing anything and Han is wearing his pilots gloves.

Then in the next shot of the MF going into hyperspace, Chewie is suddenly wearing his Bandolier belt and Han isn’t wearing his pilots gloves.

The UK tape of the Movie “Roar” (1981) by Noel Marshall with Tippi Hedren and Melanie Griffith contains much dialogue scenes in english, that are missed on the US BD Release and only inserted in German language on the English audio track of the German BD release.

MrBrown said:

I have the tape, and much DVD and BD releases to check.

I’m going to need something to verify that.

I don’t know if this counts, but Olive the Other Reindeer had around 2 additional minutes of footage on VHS that’s not available on DVD.
It counts, but where can that information be verified?

The US theatrical cut of “Yellow Submarine” has not been released in a digital format. It appears on VHS and LD only.

I think this says the Theatrical Cut was released on a German DVD.

No, that is just the same version released everywhere since 1999. It matches the UK version of the film as it premiered. Upon international release, the film was shortened, with some alternate footage during the final battle. That was the widely available version of the film before the 1999 restoration released on dvd at the time.

OK, added.

Sea of Love (Thrillers Edition) - VHS. Extended version of the film. Nothing noted on the box. Contains deleted scenes from tv version but uncensored.

I can’t find anything on a Thrillers Edition, Could it be the Collectors Edition?

Nope.

I own it and did a transfer of it. It was released in the late 90’s.

Do you still own it to maybe take a few screenshots of the slipcase for release information?

The old German VHS of „Nightmare on Elm Street“ contained the Unrated Version with some extended footage of Tina‘s death (blood splashing when she falls from the ceiling and an additional shot of her body).

Added.

Dr. Cooper said:

The German VHS of Hitchcock‘s „Psycho“ also had some alternate/additional material: A shot where Marion takes off her bra, alternate footage of Norman‘s bloody hands after he cleaned up the mess in the bathroom and Arbogast is stabbed three or four times instead of just once. It also has an alternate shot of Sam‘s letter to Marion where the text is written in German.
Unfortunately the shower scene is cut in these German tapes, only old TV-airings included the full uncut version.

Added, but I’m curious to know if this version had a home media release in other regions.

Yes, it would appear so. The 1997 MGM W/S LD, the DVDs and the UK TV broadcasts aired on different channels have been sourced from the shorter U.S. cut.

Added.

Blue Thunder (1983) - these releases contain one additional scene not included on the DVD/Blu-ray versions.

More than one scene: 😃

https://www.movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=4680869

https://www.lddb.com/search.php?search=blue+thunder&format=ld&sort=date,asc

If you mean that one shot that’s shown earlier then your right.

JayArgonaut said:

Do all the LDs contain the extended version? I thought it was just the pan and scan releases?

Where did you hear that it was only the Pan & Scan releases?

JayArgonaut said:

Another entry for your list is Explorers. The 80s home video releases were re-edited by Dante apparently and they include scenes that are not present in the DVD-Blu-ray theatrical version.

https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Film/Explorers

Thanks, did all the VHS releases from the 80’s and 90’0s contain this scene?

To clarify, that scene is from the theatrical cut, which has only ever been released on VHS (CIC) in PAL European countries and that was during the 80s/90s. The theatrical cut airs on UK TV fairly regularly.

Explorers UK VHS

Explorers UK VHS II

The current worldwide DVD release by Paramount uses the Dante re-edited “Special Home Version” that was released in the US on LD, VHS and Beta during the 80s.

See below for a thorough discussion of the differences. 😃

https://originaltrilogy.com/topic/Has-anyone-ever-done-a-theatrical-cut-of-The-Explorers-River-Phoenix-Ethan-Hawke/id/48867

http://www.haku.co.uk/dvd/Explorers.html

Regarding Blue Thunder, I looked into purchasing the US NTSC W/S LD a while back but the one I saw for sale on eBay appeared to have the theatrical running time. This is why I suspected that only the early pan and scan versions contain the additional scenes.

Another entry for your list is, The Charge of the Light Brigade (1968).

All current DVDs use the U.S. cut, which is shorter by 7 minutes. There was a 1992 UK VHS release that featured the original full length version. Whenever it airs on TV, I’ve recorded it, in the hope that the full length version might turn up but nothing so far.
