STAR WARS: EP V &quot;REVISITED EDITION&quot;<strong>ADYWAN</strong> - <strong>12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW</strong>
Time

This may be slightly off-topic, but I was just watching Mark Hamill's interview at Star Wars Weekend and at one point they showed a fake deleted scene from Empire that struck me as familiar:

(It starts around 35:50)

Didn't Adywan do the exact same thing as an April Fool's Joke for ESB? I'm not saying they used his clip (I thought Adywan's was shorter, though I'm not entirely sure) but maybe they were inspired by it?

Probably just a coincidence, but who knows.

PREQUELS ENVISIONED BY BIG BOSS_92
Time

It is a bit convoluted, maybe even a bit confusing. It also only manages to save only half of the secret: in this version, we already know that Anakin went bad, just not that he survived and became Darth Vader.

I think in order for the prequels to fully work, all OT secrets have to be preserved. It's clear when watching Empire Strikes Back that the viewer, not just Luke, was meant to be surprised at Vader's revelation.

Treating Anakin as Vader as common knowledge in the prequels ruins the structure of the saga, even more so for newcomers. The prequels never should've tried to be prequels in the first place because they're not. They're parts I, II and III of a 6- part saga, they're the first half of a full movie, the first half of the Sixth sense doesn't ruin the second part, it sets it up.

Still, Dorkman's version is interesting when seen in the context of the entire saga, since it actually changes the revealtion in V. But I'm really going off-topic now, so I should probably shut up or maybe we can take this conversation to PM?

About your Airbender script: I might actually read it then, though I was planning to give the series a watch in the near future...

I think you accidentally double posted, you might want to fix that ;)

Yes, it is. Like I said, there's some interesting stuff in there. Narratively, there's still some holes, but then again it is a treatment. Plus his way of dealing with the Vader secret certainly is interesting.

I'm working on a prequel rewrite related project as well and as research I've read most of the ones online, even some obscure ones, that's why I instantly recognized Dorkman's work.

I saw your Avatar script and I liked it, but I quit reading because, honestly I've never gotten that far in the series so reading your movie version would be a bit of a spoiler...

Don't you mean Michael Scarn? ;)

But yep, believe it or not, that's his name. He's also one of the guys from Ryan vs. Dorkman. He and the other guy (Ryan Wieber) and a few of their friends also have a movie commentary site. They're usually really interesting and insightful.

That's how I came by his treatments. There's some good ideas in there (and some things I'd do differently) and I couldn't stand seeing them posted on this site without proper credit.

I just wanted to point out that I noticed that you borrow heavily from Michael "Dorkman" Scott's prequel treatments that can be found here. I'm not talking about borrowing a couple vague ideas here and there, if that were the case I wouldn't have bothered to write this in the first place. No, the entire story is largely the same (there are some minor change-ups) to the point of you actually having copied entire sentences, or more accurately entire chunks of text.

Now, Dorkman's have been around for a long time so there's no question about who was first. In fact, I actually suspect you copied his treatments, changed the titles and a plot point here and there and now you're trying to pass them of as your own.

I know if someone does a fan prequel rewrite it can hardly be considered as copyrighted material but you could perhaps at least give some credit where credit is due, right?

STAR WARS: EP V &quot;REVISITED EDITION&quot;<strong>ADYWAN</strong> - <strong>12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW</strong>
Time

Hello there. I'm new here (although a long time lurker) and I thought now would a good time to register since I think I might have something to contribute to this topic.

I must say I agree that the video that Adywan posted looks like a great fit for the shield generator explosion. But I also think I figured out why he won't be using it in ESB:R.

First of all, I failed to find any version of the video in higher quality than the 480p one on Facebook. I did find a HD clip from a show on the Discovery Channel that featured this video but even they used the low quality version, leading me to believe that a higher quality version simply isn't availible online.

I also discovered that the video was made by a US weapons contractor in Iraq who as a test exploded 100 ton of ammunition in Iraq back in 2006. It’s needless for me to say that it's pretty unlikely that Adywan would be able to get permission from a US weapons contractor to use footage of one of their weapons tests in a Star Wars fan edit…

Not only that but since the video was made in 2006 we can't even be certain that it was recorded or stored in an HD format, since they weren't as widespread back then.

Ronster, pyrotechnics are an option I guess. It's what they did with the generator in ROTJ and I must say I really like that effect. But you have to be extremely professional when dealing with pyrotechnics. Everything has to be set up correctly. And assuming Ady has only one model of the generator, that means he has only one chance and one take to get it right.

Also, I like the work of the guy whose demoreel you posted. Adywan, I have some links to demoreels and possible candidates as well and since I'm a bit of a compositor myself I might be able to give you a few tips as how to go about something like this, do you mind if I PM you on the subject?
