I love the choice to keep in the confession to Padme but trimmed down! I was thinking it felt pretty vital to showing how much Anakin felt he could confide in Padme but taking out the more intense parts makes it a bit more understandable why she wouldn’t be more freaked out, great job in the preview
One thing I really want is an actual canon animated anthology show ie take the Tales series away from Filoni, let him have Ahsoka and Maul and then cap him right there.
Animation is probably the greatest asset LFL has to play about with ideas that’s also cost effective. Let creators run wild yet its been pretty much ruled over by 1 guy for like 16 years at this point, outside of Resistance, Visions and Bad Batch (which is a spin on the Filoni stuff)
The best episodes of TotJ I’ve seen so far are the Dooku episodes and the best parts of those don’t feed into the Filoniverse, unlike literally every other arc we’ve had. Don’t limit it to any particular era. Wanna set a 45 min short film set 10 years after the Death Star 2 blew up featuring a young ewok finding the remains of the battle of RotJ? Sure go ahead. Maybe wanna flesh out Grevious outside of like 20 mins of Clone Wars? Yep, everyone would love that. How about we see all these Storm Troopers rebellions that get talked about in TRoS? Or High Republic shenanigans?
Even if it still retains TCW-style, build up all these 3D assets libraries so people can use them fun and interesting ways. We’ve had I imagine like 6 iterations of a single clone trooper design across 1 series, surely some of that effort could instead be put into something we’ve never seen in that style.
Look at Predator, it’s got an animated film coming out to satiate the need for “me want predator to kill people real good” crowd with 3 separate stories in 3 time periods so that in the same year it can release a film about a Predator going on a heroes journey. Use animation as something more than just a set of jangly keys for fans of TCW, instead use it as jangly keys for everyone (which they hopefully will ala Visions)
Damn, and I had just watched the Approaching Storm the other day for my big saga rewatch with CW Refocused and Spence’s Kenobi. Either way, thank you so much for all the hard work you’ve done, including coming back to these edits 1 more time after swearing off of them.
I love what you did with the romance in TAS, at first I didn’t know if the trimming of the forbidden love conflict would work but it really did in the end, you did a great job in making me a believer. Now I’m curious how it would seem with that scene reinserted (I assume it’s the diner dialogue and not the fireplace scene?)
When it’s comes to RotS “purist” do you plan on putting the actual scene of Anakin about to attack the younglings? I think it was Spence who cut the scene but left in Yoda/Obi-Wans discussing the saber marks, which could work if you’re wanting something a little more subtle?
Just wanted to say thanks for this amazing project! I’ve seen the original show before but got bit by the SW bug again recently and this looks right up my alley.
I’m only just about to start the real meat of the show but your edit of the '03 show was fantastic, I completely forgot that Durge was even meant to be in those Obi-Wan sections, great stuff. Fantastic way to respect the 08 shows original relationship to the 03 show while maintaining the 08 shows canon (I take it Anakin slipped in the shower to get his scar here 😛) Also your spreadsheet is amazing, I’ve been following it using Hals prequels as my edit of choice (which are also great, I can totally see how his AotC Anakin becomes TCW Anakin, even if that wasn’t Hals intention at the time).

Was just wondering if you had any recommendations in regards to placement of things like Tales of the Empire/Underworld? I was planning on putting Spence’s Kenobi edit somewhere before your CODA/watching Rebels Recut.
