Han's shirt is too clean.

He's married to Leia now. I'm sure he has the detergent she used on her white outfit in the first film.

We don't know if Solo is married. I hope he is not and that Leia is married to someone else. That would be a way to still make their relationship interresting without too much focus on them.

You could put them up on Vimeo? Frink's edits have been left alone there.

I did not want to cut them in several parts on Vimeo (and I don't want to pay to have an account to post full lenght edits if there are chances my videos are taken down) but hey, maybe that's what I'm gonna do.

 This is not having breast.

This is having a ridiculous disproportionate I don't even know what.  It was dumb when they made it, and it's dumb to try and save it.

Well, if you take the head of the character as a reference point for proportion, she have big boobs, indeed, but they are not ridiculously disproportionate. Plus this is a cartoon, her hip size is almost the size of her neck. And the character is a kind of a snob bimbo. She's not sympathetic. I really don't think a little girl would want to take this character as a model in life. Even the shape of her sunglasses makes her look unfriendly despite the large smile on her first shot. But anyway, each one have an opinion that is valid somehow. I just think preserving this old Pixar short is not something to be shameful about. Even if it was only the color correction it would worth it.

One could also be upset that the female character appears to be snob and don't really care about what happens to the hero. I say that's sexist! So let's make her care about him more. No, wait, that is sexist too in a way because then the female character would willingly be like a reward... So let's replace her by a pile of money! No, then the snow man would look greedy, that's not good for kids to have a greedy hero, so why not a chocolate bar?! Not wait too much chocolate is not good for kids...

Honesly, I think only adults can be shocked by a female character who have breast. Children would find this normal. Because it is. And adults would understand the sexual "subplot" that is behind the reaction of the hero. That little short movie was perfect from the beginning. If the director wants to make changes I can understand and respect his point of view even if I don't share it but I can also understand someone who would want to make a presevation of the original. Honestly I saw that short movie back in 89 or 90 (it was the first really cool and beautiful Pixar movie with a real little story so it made an impression on me) and when I saw the new version years later I thought it looked bad.

What shocked me the most is that TV's Frink is shocked. ;)

It was good fun :) watched it today.

Did you follow the shooting script for the probe droid reaching Hoth edit? Because that is very close to how it was originally intended to be.

And also not asking you to change anything but did you ever think about how it might appear if once the rebels have been discovered on Hoth Then Han all of a sudden has to leave....Not to mention the costume change :)

But all in all Yeah it was a lot of fun I enjoyed it.

 Thanks.

About probe droid: nope I just thought it would fit better that way for my edit. I did not made search about shooting script. Nice to know it.

About Han: haha, you actualy suggest me to make Han a coward? ;) Seriously that is a neat idea. Maybe it would be more in tone with the first edit A New Hope Grindhoused though. This sequel has moments of fun (and is made for fun) but is more "serious" in a way. Having Han suddenly changing his costume from a shot to another and be ready to leave the place is fun, but more in line with some of the ZAZ movies, IMO.

<strong>STAR WARS: REBELS</strong> (animated tv series) - a general discussion thread
Time

So, I just finished watching season one.

Overall it's better than what I thought when I watched the first episodes BUT... although I like the style of the backgrounds and the overall "Ralph Mcquarrie" style, I still think the last seasons of Clone Wars were just more beautiful and more visualy "detailed".

The thing that also made Clone Wars more interesting was the diversity of characters and stories. You could have one episode for kids with Jar Jar but then you'll have 3 episodes about a big battle, then some "characters episodes" centered about Obi Wan or Yoda or the Force itself, etc. While in Rebels, you almost have the feeling to watch the same sort of story again and again with some twists here and there to make the story goes on.

I hope season two will bring more variety to the stories, and I don't forget that I did not like much Clone Wars when it began either. So I'll give Rebels another try.

Star Wars Saga: Silent Film Edition (Released)

You could even re-write the entire plot of Attack of the Clones, making it a decent film!

Yeah, my silent versions are  more or less the original plot. They were my first fanedits and I did not go too crazy in changing the story at all. It is the only regret of mine now concerning those edits. I could have completely changed everything. But the fun, to me back then, was first to combine the music and the pictures in the best possible way, not too rewrite the story. That said there are some changes here and there. For example in attack of the clones, Anakin simply arrives too late to save his mother. She's already buried. Those kind of things.

&quot;Die dunkle Bedrohung&quot; better than &quot;The Phantom Menace&quot;?
Time

I'm french and I must say that the dubbing of the original trilogy, except the various, but subtle, changes of  names between Ep 4 and the rest of the saga, is GREAT. I guess some of you listening to Francis Lax dubbing Harrison Ford would not agree with me (because it makes Han's voice sound more high peached), but for a french audience who grew up in the  80's it is an iconic voice. I must say that I still almost prefer the french version over the original, surely part because of a nostalgia factor, but not only.

Funny thing is that one thing that I hated in the PT is that they finally called C-3PO by his "original" name instead of Z-6PO in the OT. I think 6PO sounds way better in french that 3PO and sounds more, well, like 3PO in english, if I make myself clear! Let's say that in the 80's people who made the dubbing had a LOT of time to make the voices "their own". They tried different things, that could end being a bit too far from the original source for american fans BUT that could better suits the foreign audience. Today dubbing actors can't change one line of dialogue (by contract) to better match the lips movement like they did before and they have just some days to make their job at best when they had weeks in the 80's. I talked with the guy dubbing Bruce Willis in french (Patrick Poivey) and he strongly agreed with me to say that today's dubbing are not at the same level than before.

One of the main criticisms of the PT is that Anakin is not a likable character, but I think Adywan should not try to make Anakin a likable character. 1: cause I don't see an easy way to make Hayden's Anakin a likable hero, and 2: he is fucking Darth Vader after all! We should hate him for getting progressively evil (but not for being a douche, all right! He should be as smart as possible given the source). Let's Obi-Wan be the real hero who witness the fall of his student friend. The audience should feel sorry for Obi-Wan, but not for Anakin.

When did you realize the Prequels sucked?
Time

I must say that at first viewing, Episode one did not irritate me that much. It was obviously not at the level of the first movies, but I still had trust in Lucas for it to be just "part 1 of a bigger plan" for the entire prelogy. Like Lucas said "You'll understand when the 6 movies saga is complete"... Yeah, right... It's only when I saw Episode 2 that I told myself "Okay, not only it's not good, but it's really going nowhere".

Anybody hoping to see more diplomat Leia in the new continuity?
Time

Oh, "the new continuity" meant "the new EU"? Right? My guess is that they will try to make everything matching the movies from now on. There would be no "new EU" in the sens that it will be the same universe as the movies. Not a "fantasized" universe (as the EU always was). At least that's what I would try to do if I was in command (not that I care a lot about it mind you).

is there a way to edit the cartoons to fit at all with the revisited edit of the prequels if not the original series at least the cgi one?

Let Adywan finish ESB Revisited first. Then wait for him to finish ROTJ revisited. Then wait for him to finish the prequels revisited. THEN we could try to answer your question.

I said "few days maybe weeks" because I did not really know anything and I prefered to not just say "few days". All I knew was that it was not a legal thing and that the site should be back. I'm pleased it was just few days.

Do the Star Wars movies contain evidence that Lucas makes it up as he goes?

I could have sworn Palpatine mentioned midis during the opera scene in ROTS?

"Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midi-chlorians to create life ..."

That's what he says. Not that interesting if you don't make Palpatine tell Anakin that he used this power to create him! It was the "I am your father" of the prequels.  There are earlier drafts of this scene where this side of things was very obvious. But even if Lucas used the early draft, He could have just tell the same thing by saying the Sith used the Force to create life. No need for Midiclhorians, unless maybe the goal is showing the dark side 'scientificaly' using the Force against its more spiritual nature. Maybe...

Do the Star Wars movies contain evidence that Lucas makes it up as he goes?
Time

Speaking of the prequels it is obvious that Jar jar was meant to have a role in the entire trilogy and when the fan did not like him Lucas reduced him to the bare minimum. Then he put Jango Fett because he thought fan boys would be pleased. That almost worked, but not really. Then he dropped the midichlorians idea because fans did not like it either. I think Lucas should have kept Jar Jar and turn him into an interesting character as the trilogy goes. And he should have kept the midichlorians angle too and turn it into a real plot of the story, instead of being afraid to upset fans. Those to me are real hints that Lucas was not driven by his own "vision" of the saga but pretty much tried to please the audience and failed. Because an audience is pleased when something coherent is told, even based on characters or plots that looks odd. If you can take something that an audience don't like at first and turn it into something worthy for the story, then you earn respect from the audience. That is what I thought when I saw The Phantom Menace for the first time. I was not really THAT letdown because I trusted Lucas to go somewhere with those strange charcacters and subplots. But no. He had no real vision.
