EDIT this is wrong
the Odysee.com uplouds are better then the dvds

https://odysee.com/$/list/1cfc4aabbe66d9c80cadc07adf3641100f8a4a97

The video quality is much better, but the audio is atrocious. Seems whoever was responsible for uploading these ran it through the same compressor settings they’ve used on more modern episodes.

It’s a shame you can’t watch harmys versions then.

Seeing as you don’t own the blurays and all.

Do you even own the films at all?

Like I said, I’ve still got the '95 vhs box but my cowclops discs are how I prefer to watch the movies. Yeah, it’s terrible quality, but I downloaded those back in March of '06, before the GOUT was even announced. Maybe I wasn’t totally “in the clear” to begin with since I never owned the '93 ld set (or any other ld release for that matter), but refusing to get the GOUT does not retroactively make me a pirate.

I don’t think he was getting at the GOUT, more of how the legalese or whatever surrounding the Despecialized editions state you must own the Blu-rays before downloading the Desp.ed. as they’re the primary source of the edits. Something to do with dodging piracy or whatever.

Heck I don’t even own the blus either, so I shouldn’t be talking 😛

George can make all the changes he wants. Just label it as a separate director’s cut, not the only version that should exist.

George isn’t the director for 66% of the OOT! ;D

Then call it The George Lucas Edition. Has a nice ring to it.

Here’s how I’d want the films to be addressed
1977 Theatrical Cut
1997 Special Edition
2004 Special Edition
2011 Final Cut

“Final cut” implies some level of decisiveness, which is practically the complete antithesis of the Special Editions.

Disney is run by putzes.

Indeed. Funnily, my biggest gripe about Disney isn’t even about their movies or Star Wars, but it’s parks. Disney seems to have completely forgotten the idea and vision behind EPCOT’s Future World, and it’s a hollow shell of it’s former self. They genuinely have no clue how to properly handle anything with an ounce of good in it.

That’s Disney for you. Worst of the worst.

They use bad noise reduction in their animated features and they censor content that could possibly be construed as racist. Disney isn’t the greatest for sure.

And they haven’t released a 2D animated film in almost a decade.

Strike four and they’re out.

Didn’t they called it quits after Princess and the Frog? Which is a damn shame as that movie looked amazing.

Wait what? He actually altered American Graffiti with CGI? I don’t recall seeing any gungans running around that movie. Looked pretty normal to me.

IIRC, the director’s cut also features extended/alternate/additional scenes not present in the theatrical version. I’ve never watched the theatrical version, though, so I don’t know how correct this is.

Well in this case, the lower is definitely better (more natural in terms of what human eye would capture).

I don’t mind special editions of movies as long as the changes/additions aren’t gaudy. The final cut of Blade Runner is a SE done right

At least Blade Runner has every cut available nice and restored in a nice box set. Georgie doesn’t seem to understand that concept.

Is there any list of changes they’ve done to it? I have only seen ABC versions of 1 and 2

Oh boy.

Well, for starters, the opening recap was cut (although I can’t tell if that was a recording error my grandfather made back in the day), so it opens right on the casket scene and credits.

After the credits, it cuts straight to the Klingon freighter scene. However, it also omits Kruge destroying the freighter.

No “limp” home scene at all.

Several minor cuts here and there from now on, most notably in the transporter room in spacedock, with “adventure” guy nearly cut out.

Overall, about 20 solid minutes were cut, with absolutely nothing added in. I’ll have to re-watch it and take notes tonight or tomorrow. From what I gather, the film was supposed to get the extended cut treatment like TMP and TWoK, but there was an NFL strike a few weeks before it’s premier so ABC rushed III’s cut to fill the new vacant time slot. It’s…yeah, not very good.

I should probably make this a thread in the Other Preservations board, but I thought I’d ask here first.

Would there be any interest in the ABC cut of Star Trek III? I’ve been digging for a better quality version than my VHS rip, but I can barely find any info on this cut, let alone another rip. I know it’s brutally truncated, but it’s at least kind of interesting.

Runtime’s 1:28:05, although there’s a little runoff at the end after the credits into commercials.

I find it quite amusing that the more you talk, the more you reveal your true motivations for stirring up the pot. You think the prequels are some of the worst films ever made and that the op is just a ‘prequel troll’, simply because he enjoys the films, so he’s lower than you because that’s wrong.

He’s a prequel troll because look at his user name. Look at his brief posting history. When someone signs up on a forum called Original Trilogy and their posts are all about prequels, and nothing to do with the original trilogy or preserving the original trilogy, I think it’s fair to believe they are posting in bad faith.

Even then, I simply laughed at Fang’s ironic comment. And when the troll got hostile, you saw his comment as a cue. Like a dog hearing the food pour into its bowl, it didn’t matter who was posting or what the topic was about, an attack on a user you don’t like was your cue to bandwagon and further attack a user you don’t like. A few of you do it over and over again, jumping from thread to thread.

If you don’t like someone criticizing a movie you like, then ignore it. Stop crying like a baby and grow some thicker skin.

Most especially, stop making up paranoid comments and insinuations out of thin air.

I despise the prequels as much as the next guy, but they have their place in history. This place is a Star Wars fansite first and foremost, founded to bring about the restoration/preservation of the original unaltered trilogy, but has since evolved far past that. Many other restorations and preservations of other films, Star Wars or not, have stemmed out of these forums. Heck, I check this place more than sites like Fanres. If you deny the Prequels the right to have any preservation attempt, then you must deny all the other films that are preserved here.

On the Op, you judge him by his name and by a few of his posts. They’re prequel related. What’s so inherently wrong with that? A Star Wars fan on a Star Wars fan site that likes the prequel trilogy. Blasphemy, is it not? No, it’s just someone with a different opinion than yours who can find enjoyment out of something you cannot, yet you decide to condemn them outright on premise alone. If that isn’t childish ignorance in it’s purest form, then I don’t know what is.

The only reason you found the OP “ironic” is because they held a view contrary to yours, and you picked on them.

Your imaginary conversation skills are on display once again. I quoted Fang Zei and laughed at his comment. I didn’t even address the OP before you started in. In fact, I presume you are supposedly on this site out of an interest in preserving the original trilogy, and yet the moment a prequel troll made an aggressive comment towards me, you saw that as your cue to jump into another thread and try and take another shot at a person you dislike.

This is something that 4 or 5 of you do on a regular basis to several posters.

If there were a way to preserve an original 2002 dcp of AotC then obviously I’d be in favor of that, but there isn’t.

A 35mm print would be the best available reference for how this movie looked theatrically, hence my comment.

To which he should’ve replied “It’s ironic that a 35mm print would be the best shot at preserving a digitally-shot movie”

It’d be easier not to if you weren’t more repetitive and predictable than the penis pill spambots. I could constantly spam my dislike for Rogue One and screw with those who like it in the Rogue One general thread or in other threads where a post casually mentions the movie, but guess what? I don’t. I avoid it, because it’s in human nature to avoid things you don’t like. Since you dislike the prequels so much, why are you here?

Otherwise, you just look childish, going from one thread to the next, complaining about me.

Well, nobody complains 'till you show up, take a big, fat, steaming shit in the middle of the thread, then expect everyone to respect and applaud you for it. You came here specifically because the thread was about a prequel and wanted to bully people like the OP who likes the prequels. In every new thread you don’t suddenly become a blank-slate entity that has absolutely no previous history or reputation on this site, so screaming “LOOK AT MY POSTS IN THIS THREAD, I DINDU NUFFIN” does absolutely nothing.

Wrong. You need to read the thread again apparently. I made one post, laughing at another user’s ironic comment. Then you did what the same 4 or 5 of you always do, you followed someone you dislike into a thread, and tried to pick a fight with me for no other reason than you dislike me. It’s childish.

After you improve your reading comprehension, and stop attributing things to people they never said, you should work on growing up.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7nqcgUDoV_M

The only reason you found the OP “ironic” is because they held a view contrary to yours, and you picked on them. Now you’re attacking me for having poor “reading comprehension” and accusing me of following you just to pick a fight. I’ve been lurking this thread because I find the 35mm print of AotC interesting, but no, can’t have a neutral discussion of a Star Wars film that isn’t the OT without you barging in finding some way to crap on it. Yet I’m the one who’s childish.

THE SAME SCRIPT AWAKENS

EXT. SPACE, 30 YEARS AFTER ROTJ
Rey is Luke. Finn is funny. Poe should be dead, but I liked Oscar Isaac - we’ll keep him.

It’s the same plot as A NEW HOPE, but with Han as Old Ben - the mentor figure. Rey lives on Tatooi- Jakku, a desert planet, and her father is Anaki- Uhm, Obi-Wan, but we’ll keep that info until EP 8. There is a new deathstar, but BIG DUFFERENCE: it is much more enormouser!!! Gigantic!

The new villain is unsure yet, but I might have to write him himself… bleh, boooring! I’ll ask George for ideas on this one!

The movie ends pretty much the same way as ANH, but I WANT BIG LIGHTSABER FIGHT IN END! I WANT THE MOVIE TO FEEL NEW!!

I found J.J’s first script draft while traveling through Disneyland yesterday. It was inside his car. I broke into it.

C’mon, guys. There’s no way he’s being serious here.

I can’t tell if you’re being serious and need a Ric pic, or not.

…he’s not, is he? It felt so obvious and blatant, but Poe’s law is a bitch…
