Hello all...

...

(sorry to sound like a troll guys, I hope some of you can appreciate my viewpoint though!)

Okay, I've been following this thread I don't even know how long. I've posted maybe four times in the past four years. Here's my two cents:

This is a labor of love, and Adywan's baby.  He can do whatever the heck he wants to do with it.  I mean, he could stop working on it now, call it quits.  He doesn't owe any of us anything.

...

Amen...

3fW- welcome to forum.

So to offer my own opinions on the projects to Ady, and anyone else that cares to hear them, I say thank you!  Thank you Ady for everything you've already done for us fans and for all you will yet do.  Thank you for the countless hours of effort you have expended on this magnificent labour of love!  Thank you for the regular updates you generously give us that whet our appetites and amaze us!  Thank you for your dedication, generosity, kindness, patience, tolerance, skill, wit and love.  Thank you for everything.

Some of us actually appreciate you.

...and amen...

Many thanks to all for the kind words. And I really can't improve or add much to what's already been said here. There's only one tiny thing I would like to add: Revisited is Ady's HOBBY.

......it's about the journey, not the destination.

...and amen.

mfastx said:

I agree with the sentiments of most here.  I will however say that I can understand why people who have donated money towards the project might get a little impatient if there are further delays.

I donated (not much, but I was a grad student at the time, so it counted a lot to me). I expect a wonderful product... on Ady's timescale. He owes me **nothing**. Nada. Zip. Zilch.

3fW- said:

Honestly, can you see anybody except the man whose hobby this is staying strong for another, say 15 years?

Yes. Me. I may or may not be able to support financially, but I feel I'm part of the silent majority supporting Ady and crew for as long as it takes for HIS vision to come to fruition.

I tend to wonder if it might be better for everyone's sanity if Adywan worked on RotJ:R without ever posting a single update. :P

What he hasn't been telling people is that the "delays" on ESB:R are really just his way of getting ahead. He'll announce next week that ESB:R was finished in 2010, RotJ:R was finished in 2012, TPM:R and AotC:R were finished last year, and he's just polishing off RotS:R.

Just found out about that EditDroid 1984 Demo laserdisc from the Revisited Facebook page. What's the latest news on this, did Ady get it?

Quoted from FB:

An update on the rare ROTJ laserdisc:

Donations, as usual, will be through paypal just by clicking on the paypal button on the right hand side of this page:

Hmm... I haven't been seen around here for a long time, and last time I was "active", I donated the odd dollar, or quid, or whatever or two. I'd do so again, except lots of personal expenses have cropped up, including new baby expenses... I'll see what can be done... It won't be much, but I'm assuming every little bit helps, right?

Episde I - The Phantom Menace AVCHD Torrent uploaded to 'you know where'.  Just search for 'Adywan'.   Thanks once again to Adywan for all his great work.  I'd appreciate it if anyone who has the files could help me seed.  I'll seed only until the weekend.

If anyone wants the 14 gig high bit rate version of ESB on torrents, then I'll need some help seeding that.  If enough people offer to help I'll torrent it otherwise I can't as my upload speed isn't great.

I'm seeding (albeit somewhat slowly) for the foreseeable future... say through the end of November or so.

I've not been able to find a torrent for Phantom Menace anywhere.

I'd be prepared to upload a torrent if a few people here would help me seed.  The only thing is Demonoid is down and I'm a bit scared of uploading torrents to TPB.  If anyone can suggest a decent site to upload torrents to then let me know.

I'd help seed after I downloaded. Unfortunately, I don't know of a good site to upload to other than demonoid or TPB.

No worries, mate.

I'm waiting on a rapidshare or torrent for this, so I'm getting pretty good with this patience thing. ;)

Ditto. I played with newsgroups awhile back and wasn't impressed. They're a good fallback if/when it becomes clear that Ady's work will never see torrents, but...

No rapidshare links I know of.  The problem with the torrent is that there's loads of hit and run downloaders.  Next time I'll upload it to a torrent site that requires you to maintain a share ratio.

This is a good idea, as long as we are able to get invtes for the site to everyone that needs one, or we can find a site that doesn't require invites.

hi im using bit torrent to download it, and it has got to 99.7% and stopped because there was an error saying 'error : the requested operation could not be completed due to a file system limitation' anyone know what this means? iv got loads of space left on my hdd. Its so annoying im so close with only 0.3% left to go! do you think if i burnt it now it would work ok?

I highly doubt it... Try restarting the torrent application, then restarting the computer if that doesn't work. You could also stop the torrent (but don't delet what you've already downloaded!) and force a recheck of the file. I assume you're running some flavor of Windows and the HDD is formatted to NTFS and not something with filesize limits like FAT32?

you know I used to feel exactly the same way you do,it took me forever before I liked usenet, and I HATED it for the same reasons you do,but now that I learned it and found the "right" software for me,now I really like it,it is a GREAT alternative to torrents, and NO SEEDING BS!,and no worrying about those idiot hit and runners, sure $25 is kind of alot of money I hues, but 110 GB's is ALOT of stuff,it would get you ALL Ady's releases and a TON more,Segaflip the KING of usenet helped me get setup,if you decide to give usenet a shot again,PM me and I will give you help,I have helped out others and now they think it is pretty damn easy to,once you have the Astraweb acct.,all you do is load that info into Grabit, then goto binsearch or newzleech and download the .nzb file(which to me is just like a torrent LOL)load that .nzb into Grabit and wallah, you are grabing Ady's fabulous file.

but like I said,if you give it a go again,PM me and I will gladly help you out,I started my download of this little over 4 hours ago and I have it already.

and yes 2 files were incomplete, but QuikPar fixed it in a jiffy, the Par files are right there in the download,so no extra downing.

all you need is this:

Astraweb acct.,Grabit,Quikpar,Winrar.

While I'm grateful for the offer (truly I am), I don't find usenet difficult, confusing, or intimidating in any way. I find it annoying. I have the same problem with usenet as I would have with trying to pull something of this magnitude from Rapidshare. I wind up with dozens or hundreds of files (this latest AVCHD post has, what, 179 parts from binsearch?) that form basically a single archive which I then have to extract, essentially doubling the space required. With a torrent, I start the torrent, walk away, and when I check back, I have the iso. No repairing of files, no waiting for a 7+ GB file extraction, just burn the image. Seeding doesn't bother me, I tend to leave stuff seeding for long periods of time. In fact, I'm still seeding Adywan's first AVCHD release (which I originally downloaded from usenet). The simple fact is, I don't like usenet. I've tried it, gave it a fair shot, and don't like it.

Again, I'm grateful for the offer of help, but as stated earlier, it's not an issue with difficulty. Usenet is a last resort for me on this one. I'll take -1's advice and wait for a bit...

My problem with usenet is usenet itself. I gave it a go, and got several useful things out of it, but it wasn't worth the hassle, even after the initial learning curve. As a totally separate issue, if I'm going to have to pay someone for Adywan's work, why should it be some random corporation instead of Adywan himself?

For the record, I have donated more to Adywan than it would have cost for me to get usenet access for the releases I'm interested in. I make no demands regarding buses or strippers, just a simple request that someone provide the release in the format requested by 50% of the members in Moth3r's recent survey (as opposed to 12.5% who requested usenet). I don't think that's unreasonable, as Adywan, while expressing his personal disinterest in torrents, has never said he doesn't want people doing it.

If it becomes clear that usenet is the only way to get Adywan's releases, I guess I'll have to suck it up and deal with the crappy interface, the corrupted downloads, the wasted disk space, and the fact that I'm paying someone else for Adywan's work, but I'd much rather send another fiver Adywan's way.

Man, I wish I were rich enough to afford LD players and LD copies of Star Wars. Of course, then I'd also have to be talented enough to properly set up the captures and post=process them...

 check out ebay,

i got a decent player for very cheap US$50, and the discs are even cheaper

(unless you're getting the japanese boxed sets).. even the definitive sets in CAV

can be gotten for under $20 if you look properly..

you can get even better players, by spending a little bit more..

the price is not the problem, its the weight, as shipping will be a large

part of the cost..

later

Yeah, ~$100 isn't much in the long run, but I'm a PhD student, married, with a 2 year-old. That's groceries for a couple of weeks. There's still the talent thing to overcome, as well.

I do have all three discs of this set uploaded to adrive.com. I'm willing to PM a list of links to those who are interested, with the provision that after downloading it, you get on the torrents and seed a fair amount back. The details: 12.2 GB in a split rar, 63 pieces, 200 MB each. Sorry about the number of files, but I couldn't get larger files to upload properly. The site claims files up to 2 GB will work, but I couldn't even get it to take 500 MB.

I'm coming a bit late to the "asteroid explosion" party, but it always struck me as something put in just so they could fit in another special effect... Even with the idea of flint/steel sparks, we're talking about an explosion here, not just sparks. Whatever.

That said, I couldn't care less if Adywan "fixes it" or not, it's never bothered me too terribly much.
