It also fits in well with Kylo Ren’s character. He turned to the dark side primarily because he believed he was owed a place in the galaxy because of his lineage (contrast with Rey also wanting a lineage to place herself in the galaxy, except she makes something of herself because she didn’t have one and had to). He could be an incredibly prized possession by the First Order because he’s a relative of Vader, Luke, Leia, and Han. They give him a place in the galaxy and he gives them one too.

The ‘Custom Special Edition’ That Almost Wasn’t, But Then Was (Released)

That audio discrepency something I only noticed after throwing on both the Blu Ray and Harmy for kicks. I agree with Hal, the delayed audio makes the Stormtrooper’s speech sound very labored and as if he’s no longer in full control of his mind. It demonstrates the power of the Jedi in a show-not-tell kind of way.

Nicely done! I can’t say it’s a necessary change that should be implemented…although…hmmm…I do think more fan edits should do things like this…even if a scene plays out pretty much the same way, I feel like you’re watching it more intently thinking “wait, what’s different?”. It kind of makes one sit up and pay attention, ya know?

Exactly this. It’s not significant, but it’s an artistic touch that gives the fanedit its own identity. It would make you feel like you’re watching so and so’s fanedit of the Phantom Menace, not just weird Phantom Menace.

Luke projecting in TLJ had a lot more importance than Yoda projecting in the prequels would. It has consequences, for example Luke can’t be killed by Kylo Ren because he’s not really there. Yoda projecting would just be an unimportant detail since it doesn’t have any tangible effect, and would probably undermine Luke’s projection in TLJ.

Don’t let me get in the way of anything, but I think projection Yoda is a bad idea.

This parallel, though, I think is really unintentional. I have a hard time believing a Hollywood blockbuster is going to take a firm political stance in this decade. However, it’s not hard to read this, and the new EU makes it even easier. It would definitely be a good idea for sequel fanedits to lean even further into this.

Return of the Jedi 1997 Special Edition HD Reconstruction (Released)
Time

One thing I noticed was that you used the Theatrical “A long time ago” text, instead of the newer version that appeared in the Special Editions and prequels. However, upon further inspection of a '97 PAL DVD and '97 Laser Disc, for some reason the new text was only added to Empire and ANH, and Return of the Jedi still has the theatrical text, so your reconstruction is still accurate.

To make it seem like Anakin and Darth Vader are different people use the hologram between Vader and Palpatine from ESB but tweak it to have Vader told to kill Anakin.

That’s probably a good idea, but to have that in the movie and then not following it up would be really weird, and you couldn’t really follow up on that without undermining it.

I was thinking about putting text cards detailing which universe Endgame stuff takes place in. This is especially to help contradictory scenes that might be running close in time. Simultaneous contradictory scenes would be pretty easy to digest (such as the opening of GotG1 with the Morag scene from Endgame), but something like Loki escaping in Endgame will be just two scenes before he’s shown captured and sent to Asgard (from Avengers 1). What do you guys think? Also, how should the six different timelines be named, since I can’t seem to find any official names?

Perhaps we can exchange notes?

PM me if you’re interested, but it also sounds like our fanedits are pretty different.

You could name each timeline after the movie events that Endgame revisted.
I.e.
2012 - Loki timeline
2013 - Asgard timeline
2014 - Guardians timeline
and so forth.

Not a bad idea

Update time! The move has gone well, the new floor is not yet installed but most other things are unpacked including my workstation. So I’m back at it, still trying to nail down this ending sequence right now:

Zoo wee mama that’s pretty sexy. I like the concept, but also I just wanna say how much I love some of the details, too, like there being no iris before the credits, we just pan to the starfield.
