The Big ESB Reveal
Time

May have? I guess you had to be there.

It was an oft quoted line by the early 90's. (Spaceballs also kept it alive in a way.) Plus this guy went and ruined it for millions of tv viewers...

There are still people on the planet who haven't seen the movie. I encountered a young horror movie fan yesterday who's never seen Psycho, and hasn't had it spoiled for them yet!

Do you mean the forest, or the sky? If you mean the forest...it's the same forest. If you mean the sky... In the original, the clouds in the sky of Yavin IV are somehow behind Yavin. It's one of the 2004 changes that really, really made a lot of sense.

I honestly don't see any clouds behind Yavin in the original shot. And unless someone has a photo taken while standing on one the moons of Jupiter on a sunny day, you're going to have a hard time proving the original shot looks wrong anyway. ;)

Nobody sitting in a plastic garbage can on a pole 50 feet off the ground is going to be that casual with any sort of craft passing that close to them either!

Yeah I never got why Luke and Leia having a trait passed down to them by their dad has to exclude anyone. You would think if it did they'd have the jedi banging each other all the time to produce the next generation. It'd be like Caligula in that council building.

I can't be the only one who spotted this guy in Episode One, and thought the resemblance to Yoda was implying something! ;)

Wait, so is Han just a moron now that he doesn't believe in something that can be physically measured? (I guess he doesn't believe in the Jedi in general, since they were killed off in public 19 whole years ago. Which seems sort of like saying he doesn't believe in the '92 Houston Oilers but whatever)

Who called him a moron? Scruffy looking nerf-herder maybe...

Since it's still hotly debated as to whether the whole sister thing even existed at the time ESB was filmed, I think you have to leave ROTJ out of the equation. Luke also tried calling to Ben first.

It might also be a "one way call" scenario. Leia senses Luke, but can't send a message as Vader does. Luke obviously couldn't call Han, (could he sense Han was frozen?) didn't know Lando, and I've no idea if you can telepathically call a Wookiee. It might also help if you're sending to the one person who's probably also thinking about you at the time.

Did the term "Force Sensitive" exist prior to the prequels?

I once thought it was as simple as "you gotta' believe".  Believe in the Force and in yourself. Han is too cynical to buy into a bunch of "simple tricks and nonsense". Luke made a leap of faith when he turned off his targeting computer. His later disbelief is what keeps him from pulling the X-Wing out of the swamp. Yoda's trembling little hand is what sold me on his powers in that scene.

Jedi toss big stuff around far too easily these days.

Midichlorians, which I believe is actually the special additive that forever marks the person who whizzes in a swimming pool, undermine the OT. ;)

Babylon 5 - Broadcast NTSC (4:3)? (Released)
Time

I thought the original pilot aired in syndication?

IIRC, one actor's voice was dubbed in the original aired version, and there were several shots of background aliens deleted in the second version. The music might have been different as well.

It would be nice to have the original if only to compare the differences, much like Star Trek fans have the unaired "The Cage" pilot, and the version incorporated into "The Menagerie" two part episode.

The comments on the ESB clip used to be mostly polite and civil, but
apparently the trolls are migrating there now since I shut the commenting down on the other 2 clips:

"I lol'd. This is Lucas's film, not yours. He can do whatever the hell he pleases and neither you, me or anyone else can change that. Besides, I don't know why anyone should complain about THIS particular scene... the change in the 'new' version makes the transition from Palpatine in the new trilogy to the old one much more fluid and believable."

This falls into one of the most annoying comment categories: the "It's Lucas' film he can do whatever he wants" category.

Do these guys all read from the same script now? It's starting to sound like a mantra...
