They released a remastered DVD a few years back, (the first release wasn't anamorphic) which included an alternate workprint version of the fairy folk sequence, so it's a safe bet there's other footage in the vault.
I'm amazed a video workprint of the original cut has never surfaced.
The Marvel comic and the radio series devoted an installment to Luke's skyhopper days with Biggs. It could be like American Graffiti, only with sandpeople.
I've long imagined Yoda being more reckless and crazy than Luke in his youth. The advantage of being more than 800 years old is few of your peers know what you were like as a padawan. The transition into the Yoda we know and love might be a compelling story. ;)

I'm a fan of the film. Disney doesn't seem to be in any hurry to release this on Blu Ray yet.

At least they cleared that mystery up. And if anyone is still tempted, there is a 16mm preservation of SPFX in the pipeline from the usual suspects. ;)
The LD would be better quality, but the only Laserdisc release was in Japan, so there are burned in subtitles.
I've been hoping a 16mm print would pop up on ebay for years now.
At least they're acknowledging the existence of it.

I would love too see the Brian Daley Han Solo books be adapted into movies. I think even Lando ought to get a movie. It could end with him losing the Falcon to Han of course. :)
Was the seller able to confirm no Sunflower? The IMDB claims she wasn't cut until the late 60's. (Yes, I know, grain of salt.) The scope would have been interesting to see since there have been claims Walt was pondering a widescreen version in 1940.
Glad you scored the 1982 version. I got hit with some unexpected bills, so things are unfortunately tight for me at the moment. If a THX 1138 print pops up now, I'm boned.
Did someone here get the scope print? The other auction for the 1982 reissue was ended early.
That's a good point. It's been so long since I've had to deal with Umatic, I'd forgotten how damn short the smaller tapes really are. I can't even recall ever using or seeing a 30 minute cassette in college.

I'm sure George is going to visit the set at some point. (And promptly be put to work shooting some second unit stuff just like on ESB.) He probably has enough common courtesy to a fellow movie director not to be looking over J.J.'s shoulder at this point.
