I have to admit some of those are amusing. Is the Wil Wheaton tweet real?

I need to pick it up myself eventually. I'm a little afraid to handle my original issues too much these days.
The early letters accusing the good folks at Marvel of inserting "new" scenes into George's storyline are hilarious. And there were later suggestions Vader and Doctor Doom should team up. If only they knew! ;)

I've always dug the artwork\style of comic books, but have never been one to sit and read or collect them. More of an admirer of the art form. That said, I do read the Star Wars comic strips regularly http://dailysw.blogspot.com/.
Anyway, with all the discussion of the future of the EU and in particular the comic books, I decided to look back at the early versions. The first ones, to be precise.
I discovered that they were combined into a paperback many years ago. Now that is something I'd sit down and read. Don't care that it's B&W, don't care that it's smaller (shut up Frink). ;-)
What are the board's thoughts on this? There are plenty of them available used;

I actually have that somewhere, but yeah, you're going to need a magnifying glass. IIRC, the ESB adaptation paperback was printed in color and had the original concept art Yoda panels before they were altered to reflect his actual movie look. I also have one that collects a couple stories that only ran in the British weekly tabloid version of the comic.
If you want the most bang for your buck, Dark Horse reprinted the entire Marvel Run in Omnibus form.

The only downside with all the collected reprints is, you don't get the goofy ads or letters column. It's fun to read what fans had to say back then.
Is the movie actually in production, or is this some sort of test shoot?

I think I have every Star Wars LD release, including a weird PAL master disc, The Keep, multiple THX1138s, Blade Runner in various versions, the SE discs, TPM, a bunch of Disney discs, I'll have to check and make a list.
But just the SW stuff and Blade Runner and THX would pretty much fill a drive.
I also have the OT on VHD discs, as well as Jaws 3D and a bunch of other VHD titles.
Would be interesting to see some OT VHD screen shots to compare with LD. VHD is the only format I don't have a copy of Star Wars on.
Are there still some 3D titles on VHD that haven't showed up on Blu Ray yet?
There is also the underlying tension that they might not see each other alive again.
We seem to discuss the visual changes more. It's probably easier to spot and discuss a visual change than an aural one in an internet forum. I see a similar disparity over at the Home Theater Forum. Movies badly remixed or lacking their original mono do not get the same amount of ire a botched video master does.
We've been repeatedly rebuffed when asking nicely that the OOT be released. When we did get it, it was from ancient analog masters that should have been junked, let alone put on a DVD. The years of hemming, hawing, evading the question when the rare opportunity arose to even ask it in a public forum, and the outright baloney from Lucas and his official spin doctors, have left a bad taste in many a fans' mouth. That's enough to make anybody a little bit negative.
A simple inexpensive remastered release of the OOT in HD could wipe that all away in a instant.
I'm hard pressed to think of any other franchise that treats it's fans this way.
And without the prequels, there could never be the "Jar Jar Binks theory".
Just because something is in the pop culture vernacular, doesn't mean it was good. South Park and The Simpsons have referenced the prequels, and not in a flattering way. Even though Lucas has given his blessing to Robot Chicken's parodies, they rip the prequels quite often.
Hold on, there was a Marmaduke movie?!
There have been so many changes since 1997, a couple are bound to slip by unnoticed. Even Puggo's 16mm transfers have turned up variations in the sound mixes that haven't been documented before.
Lucas has been pretending THX 1138 hasn't been altered for ten years now, so he's not about to discuss why Wicket needed demonic blinking eyes this time around. The closing credits for the SE's are still from 1997.
I stand corrected!
I don't think Bats should be more buff than Supes though. ;)
I like that they used a Dark Trooper for the Hulk.

The academy, which Biggs had already graduated from, was presumed to be some sort of civilian service, although the specter of being drafted by the Empire hung in the air. Which is why Biggs was going to jump ship and try to find the Rebellion. Luke was the only person he told of his intentions.
Luke was clearly interested in hearing about the Rebellion from Threepio. And he clearly told Ben he hated the Empire.
Stealing an X-Wing is a bit of a stretch. The fleet might be scattered across the galaxy for a time before we saw them at the end of ESB, in order to evade the Imperial fleet. In light of the fact he blew up the Death Star without a targeting computer, saving the Rebellion's collective ass, I think the leadership would cut Luke a little slack if he went somewhere to improve his abilities.
They might dock his pay for leaving his X-Wing on Bespin though. ;)
I don't know which comments section is a deeper cauldron of crazy these days, youtube or CNN.
The internet has enabled so many people that in previous generations were only able to find an outlet scrawling things on the walls in public restrooms.
I stumbled across a blog recently, where the most recent post was a rambling muse on George Clooney's attempt to deflect speculation on his sexuality by getting married. (A lot of other posts seems to be about gay people from a psuedo scientific baloney angle.) I searched in vain for some clue as to the identity of this blogger and their qualifications to pontificate on such matters, to no avail.
Batman has had short ears before in his long history.
Why would you have veins on a rubber suit? We're back in Schumacher territory already? ;)
Jake Tapper on CNN explained his "Jar Jar Binks theory" in reference to a certain wrinkled, leathery, politically incorrect basketball team owner today. Someone with so much money and power, that nobody will tell them when something is a really bad idea. George was not mentioned by name though.
JEDIT:Apparently, he's had this theory for a few years now...
I've read Nimoy was really pissed over this 70's beer ad, and sued to get it pulled.

The 90's was a real long time ago to some people I guess. ;)
I think they're gone for good. Do you share a computer with anyone?
Wow, just wow. I could have sworn someone went on a crusade against them in the late '70's early 80's. Maybe they came back after the fuss died down?
Anyway, I'm glad Gene kept smoking off the show. It would have dated TOS very badly to see Kirk and company light up on the Enterprise. And this was in an era where even NASA consoles had built in ashtrays!
Oh damn. :(
He was to Alien what Ralph McQuarrie was to Star Wars.
Yeah, they're going to dig all the old crap up just in time for the sequels.
This is hardly unique to Star Wars. Some of the original Trek cast have had issues with Shatner. ;)

IIRC, Roddenberry objected to this, and got it pulled. I recall other brands of candy cigarettes being around well into the 70's though.oh, they're still around.
In the U.S.?
My money is on J.J. putting Shatner in somewhere just to blow people's minds. ;)
Good question. The Ewoks had all those helmets to bang on, so they either took them off of prisoners or corpses.
Would be interesting if we saw some former Imperials in the sequels. Would they be trustworthy, or always under suspicion?
