Thanks for all the kind words about my old “Millennium” upscales. I’d still be here sharing and contributing, but someone decided to take those encodes - that were meant for fans of the show - and sell Blu-Rays on Ebay. While I enjoy upscaling things that will never get an HD release, and have upscaled dozens of series since, I hate that there are greedy people who take something meant to be shared and try to profit off it.

Cheers to the good people here. I know you outnumber the bad ones.

TVA

If it is true that some Simps are using your hard work to sell your upscale, just advise ebay that those are fraudulent considering that there never was a digitalised version of Millinium. Even with the Blu-ray version which is the only one I found from your hard work, I have no way of burning this considering a Blu-ray burner is as pricy as a 5 terabytes WD external hd not to mention the price of the writable Blu-ray disk. Will have to convert it to h264 or h265 for my personal use and archive it to probably a double layered DVD so I can pop it in my own DVD and play it as media files.

Many thanks for the upscale, it is a beauty to re-watch this in such a rich video definition!

Can I ask if it was you who upscaled Babylon 5 before amazon decided to dish out to upscale it in 1080p?

Edit

I will never share my converted from Blu-ray to h264/265 considering it wasn’t your original work (meaning the Blu-ray format) and for the user who uploaded it to myspleen, getting an invite is impossible so you actually have buy an invite to this torrent site. Just hope that you are comfortable that people can get your work via torrent even tho it was converted to a Blu-ray format.

Someone just put the full Season 1 Upscales (145GB) on 1337, if anyone is looking for it. Hopefully the others appear also. It is insane how much Mr TV Archive got out of the DVDs.

I can confirm all 3 seasons are now on 1337x with active seeders.

Gonna have to buy a new portable HD just to download, plug and play. This is a lot of data! It is the Blu-ray upscale.

The series is complete! Some notes for folks:

This show was nominated for 4 ASC awards, and many of the shots in each episode were highly stylized with mixing of media (8mm/16mm/35mm film, 480i video). The large majority of each episode is nice and clean 35mm film, but there are lots of shots with varying amounts of grain. I’m not a fan of using DNR if it substantially changes the director’s intention, so these episodes have been upscaled with ZERO DNR. That probably won’t please everyone, as there are scenes in each episode where the grain is very high, and you can see the grain moving in those shots, but my preference is to see the show as it was presented.

These episodes of “Millennium” were upscaled from compressed files (DVD source). If you watch the original DVDs, you’ll see this grain as well - on faces, backgrounds, etc. In some cases, the grain noticeably ‘shimmers’. My upscaling technique uses a combination of hardware and software and blending 4 different results for final output. The end product is gritty but true to the original. Apologies to those who find those grainy shots distracting.

Last note - the file sizes are large for these episodes. Well over half the show was shot in darkness or with varying degrees of dim/gray backgrounds (Chris Carter initially pitched the show as “Se7en” in Seattle). There was significant banding of backgrounds at lower bitrates, and I didn’t want to revisit this project in a couple of years, so each episode ranges from 2.6gb to 3.6gb. Season 1 is 58.7gb, Season 2 is 61.7gb and Season 3 is 74.2gb. Season 1 is 4:3 HD, seasons 2 and 3 are full HD.

If you own these episodes on DVD and would like a link to these fan upscales, please let me know. Cheers to all.

Have all 3 seasons. Was trying to upscale it myself but my vivobook paid 400$ just crashes when I try it with DVDFab ai upscaler. The VOB loads, but that is basically it. Reckoned not enough rams, poor processor, and crappy integrated video card are not suited for any AI upscale software.

Would you be so kind as to share your upscales.

Cheers, and many thanks for the work!
