Info Wanted: AMC DVD_TV - The Terminator, True Lies, etc. (with Animated Anecdotes)
Time

AMC used to do this Sunday nights. It was actually pretty funny. A movie channel dedicated to classics had to use a gimmick to air movies uncut and in widescreen. I believe they also used the "DVD on TV" moniker that FX if using. Kinda fun. But, no, it's not available on DVD nor was it taken from a DVD or anything. Just something the folks at AMC cooked up and wrote themselves.

How would you Remastered The OOT, If you had Lucas' Money and Power?
Time

I'd hire Robert Harris to go back to the original negatives or whatever the best usable prints are and restore the trilogy to exactly the way they were in 1977, 1980, and 1983.

Then I'd hand over the restored elements to someone who is passionate about the project and wouldn't release anything half assed to supervise the creation the Special Edition versions, staying as true as possible to the original intentions of the filmmakers and artists. Also keep some key members of the crew (art & set decorators, costume designers, cameramen, editors, sound designers) on hand for their opinions/approval. Lucas ultimately will have final approval, but whoever takes the job of supervising the project will have to be able to stand up to the guy and make Lucas realize when his ideas are stupid.

Then go all out on the DVD extras and give the movies as much love as they deserve.

I think it comes down to space issues. they'd be a cool bonus, but if they'll compromise the quality of the other stuff, you shouldn't worry about including them.

On an unrelated note, I was looking through some of your older releases and realized I never printed the cover for The Game. I probably burned it to some CD-R somewhere, but after an exhaustive search, I couldn't find it. Could you or anyone help me out?

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time
I haven't been following with all the fixes, etc. and was hoping someone could help me out.

I downloaded the ISO file from a.b.starwars and was about to burn with ImgBurn, but after I hit the "write" button, I got the following error:

Optimal L1 Data Zone Start LBA: None Found! (VTS_51)

This image has not been mastered correctly for burning onto a double layer (OTP Track Path) disc.

None of the cells meet the 'DVD-Video specification' criteria for a potential layer break position.

Do you want to continue anyway?

I assume this isn't the same thing as the thing noted in the NFO file. Is there a fix for this? Or can I continue anyway? Thanks. :)

EDIT: after going through a few pages of search results, I noticed this issue has been dealt with. I tried applying Adywan's fix and created the ISO. Unfortunately, I get the same error as before. I even tried using PgcEdit and doing it manually. But the resulting ISO still gave me the same error. :( After trying Nero, it fails before even burning to the disc. :(

What's with the obsession with Gunga Din? Certainly, it's a great movie, but why have this movie compliment that one? I think it already does to some extent, but it just seems unnecessary.
If you've done some research about it, it was one of the films which heavily influenced and inspired Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Don't believe me? Buy or borrow The Complete Making of Indiana Jones book. I bought the Oversize/Coffee Table book and it's a great read.
Yes, I know all about the Gunga Din/Temple of Doom connection and do own that book as well. The similarities are quite obvious to anyone who's seen both films, but I just don't see the need to edit Temple of Doom to fit more with Gunga Din. They're movies that work quite well played back to back as it is. No need to have Indiana Jones revealed to be the grandson of one of the guys from Gunga Din or anything like that. And, yes, I am exaggerating. :)

I'm familiar with Gunga Din though I've never seen it. I'm also aware that Temple of Doom is very strongly based on that picture even down to the name of the Thuggee cult.

The Thuggee cult was actually real, but I assume they were exaggerated for TOD.

Anyway, this definitely sounds like an interesting edit to me. I don't have too many problems with the film as it is, but most of the things that you've altered sound like they can improve the film.

I wouldn't really trust CHUD's reviews of the film. I love the site (most entertaining way to get my movie news), but they always seem to have their minds made up on a movie from the moment it's announced. They've taken the position that Indy 4 was going to be bad for a while now, so it doesn't surprise me that their reviews are as negative. Heck, looking at the # ratings they've given the film, it's pretty ridiculous when most reviews have been generally favorable. They seem to be treating the movie with extra scrutiny.

Sounds pretty good. So no voice over after Roy's death? I hate the VO from this moment in the theatrical cut, but the one from the deleted scenes/workprint is very fitting IMO. In fact, Ridley Scott has even stated that he really liked that bit, but since his DC was stripped of narration, it would seem odd to include just one line.

As a side note, I don't think Criterion would do a Star Wars special edition, even if they could. Perhaps back in the laserdisc days but not now. Criterion fills a specific niche and is not just the ne plus ultra of film presentation. Here's a list of the Criterion Collection releases. Putting Star Wars in there is putting a square peg in a round hole. They aren't doing "Blade Runner" anymore.
I'm sure Criterion would love the opportunity to release any title (of reasonable quality), especially one as important as Star Wars, if they could get the rights to it. It's always been my theory that they aren't all that choosy, it's just that big studios aren't willing to license out their films like they were back in the LD days. Heck, they've released movies like Armageddon, The Rock and Chasing Amy on DVD. And The Life Aquatic and The Royal Tenenbaums were already part of the Criterion Collection before they were even filmed.

NOW RELEASED: The Godfather: 1901-1980 Epic Edit
Time
Bravo ran the saga a few weeks back (Friday, June 8th, I think). It ran from about 5 pm to 2 am the next morning! I missed the first half hour, but otherwise, I caught the whole 9 hours. I can tell you that there were lots of commercials and some really annoyingly huge banner type ads during the airing, and for some reason it ran unadvertised (as in, it wasn't mentioned on any of the listings or even on the website). So keep a watch out for it in the future.

New Clone Wars Trailer!
Time
It looks like it can be entertaining provided that the stories are there. In the end, while the show will have the Lucasfilm stamp, I'm sure the show's writers are SW fans so they may know what we want.

So since we see Asajj Ventress in the trailer, will they be retelling some of the Clone Wars 2-D stuff?

And also, judging from the brief glimpses in the trailer, the human characters look a little stiff.
