Peter Jackson the new Luca$???
Time
how so? if you mean the box set after all three where done that doesn't really count (imho) because it was known from the beginning. and i believe i heard they had a get the box offer with the proofs of purchases of the three movies and shipping cost

-Darth Simon

Actualy you didn't even need to send in the proofs of puchases. You just had to go to the website it told you and pay $3. Shipping did take awile though.

I'm glad these are coming out I never bought the theatrical releses of TT or RotK and now my local walmart only carries the full screen versions.

Just for fun another difference is that the SW 05 dvd sets were made in mexico if I remember correctly. But now most dvds are. At least for the US releases.

One of my Fav movies. I watched it just the other day.

This post reminded me of my excitement when I heard the Original unaltered trilogy was coming out on dvd before GL crushed my dreams by not making them anamorphic.

Idea: Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind - Special DVD edition
Time
The only thing that sets that apart from the much cheaper japanese release is the case so if someone wants to buy that the cheaper one will suffice. Also the only diffenence between that set and the US release is the audio commentary and as Klingon_Jedi pointed out the Figure. I have the NTSC VHS of warriors of the wind if anyone is intereseted in doing anything like that with it though.

Maintaining order in a forum is dumb.....go figure.............
Ok I didn't read OCPs original posts So maybe I'm out of line on that one. I have been reading here alot and OCP has contributed a lot.

just one question, if you don't mind.........how old are you?
I don't mind. I'm 23 been reading these forums for a little over a year but never had any reasons to pust untill about a month or two ago.

Oh and just one more question.........what drugs are you on? Embasile....

Now thats just plain rude. I said an action was dumb you are attacking someones character. Where is "maintaining order" now. So how old are you since you are the less mature one here. Oh and its imbaslie not embasile. I guess that word was to big for you.

I just donated to the X0 Project today because I don't want it to die....I wish it could be more but maybe in the future it will be.....

I'm glad it's obviously a cause you belive in. I said I respect what they were trying to do, but it is superfluous now. As GL will have the tools and sources to create a perfect digital preservation.

I could care less about Georgey Porgy's OT DVDs, I want the X0 OT DVDs!!!!

Again these DVDs were the original intent of this website. Did you not see the huge petition on the main page. I know there is a fine line between Preservation, FanEdit and Bootleg, but GL's DVDs will make the X0 DVDs bootlegs as well as any other OOT preservation.

Let me give a heart felt "Thank you" to MeBeJedi, Zion, Laserdisk and anybody else who is was and are apart of the X0 project,....you guys ROCK!
I agree that what they were trying to do was great. I however think that they should atleast wait untill they see GLs OOT DVDs before pumping more time into the X0 project.

Edit: It seems a lot was said or rather posted while I was replying. I didn't mean to stir up any trouble. I apologize if I did. I accept your apology vbangle and hope that this is water under the bridge.

It's dumb that you banned ocp. I'm glad the OOT is
coming out on DVD now, and glad I never donated money
to X0. Even though I respect what you were trying to do.
I thought the whole point in this site was to
get GL to do an official OOT DVD. Funny Now that it's
happened people are complaining. I've seen other
Preservation threads get closed down because an
official dvd existed even if you did have to order it
from another country, Ong-Bak. It seems like we have
some double standards here. X0 as well as any
straight preservation of the OOT should now be
considered bootleg. But we should be proud to close
down the OOT Preservation threads; I thought that's
what it was about. I think a lot of people have
gotten caught up in the act and forgot what the
original intention was. I think that when the new
dvd's come out people will lose interest in the X0
project because honestly they wont be able to compare.

The Thief and the Cobbler: Recobbled Director's Cut (Released)
Time
I must also agree with OgOggilby I really enjoy the intro to thief as it is. Whoever composed it did a wonderful job. I definitely believe that about them getting someone to compose something similar though. The two pieces are in the same key, and the Thiefopening borrows several small fragments from the Tallis Fantasia. I was convinced they where the same song when I was only listening to 30 sec clips of the Tallis Fantasia until I found out it was written for strings only. But definitely keep the anonymous song.

The Intro is deffinatly not Fantasia on a Theme From Thomas Tallis that peice was written, if I'm not mistaken, for all Strings and there are, unless the intro clip is just way distorted, wind instruemts and percussion used. I've have asked everyone around here if they know the peice almost all said they've heard it before but no one could remember what it was. I really need to ask my band director but we're not usualy on friendly terms, but he loves Vaughan Williams. We even played his English Folk Song Suite last year.

Also want to add that I've got only about 5 min left to transcribe on the Alex Williams Interview.

Idea: babyhum's proposed new Studio Ghibli project (* unfinished project *)
Time
Well I was mainly going to preserve it just to be a learning experience and because of my aversion to fulscreen movies. I actualy havn't watched the VHS in years, like 8 of em, I bought a subbed one from china then re subed it with a script I found on the internet then bought the official release a few years after that. I agree that the film is exelent, one of my favorites if not my favorite, and that none of the edits should have originaly been made. But for some reason I feel like preserving it. If for no other reason than to serve as a reminder to what editing great anime can do. So we never repeat the mistake again. Its probably WotWs fault that we only started getting official US releases a few years ago. I probably wouldn't even watch it again after preserving it.

Idea: babyhum's proposed new Studio Ghibli project (* unfinished project *)
Time
Well first of all I think Disney is doing a fine job with the ghibli films. I do wish they would go back and do a special edditon of Mononoke the one they released here was only one disk. I do wish we got all of the bonus featurs for Howl, from the japanese standard edition all we are missing is the documentary of premiers in Venice and US. We did get the Hello, Mr lassetter from the special edition disc 4 though. So I think Disney is doing what they think is best the market for Ghibli fims over here probably isn't as big and 4 disc special editions probably wouldn't sell aswell. Although I would buy it if it were released here. Maybe a 3 disc version would be better I don't imagine alot of people would care to have the 2nd disc where it is just the movie in 6 different laguages all DD2.0.

That being said it probably wouldn't be hard to put the fox dub on the new totoro transfer. In fact I have been meaning to do it when I get the cash to buy the fox version off of ebay. I have never seen the fox dub and am interested in seeing it but I don't like Fullscreen thats why I have yet to buy it.

What do you think disney is botching with these releases? Yea I wish we could have more bonus features, but the dubs are some of the best english dubs for anime plus the japanese audio with ghibli's official subtitles are on them. And remember Miyazaki gets the final say on all of this so if he were displeased with disney he would make them do it again to get it right acording to the deal he has with disney he has that power.

As for the topic of this thread. I hope baby hum starts it up again soon. If he needs any of the english behind the mic featuretts or any of the features on the US releases I have them all except for pom poko and yamadas which I will hopefully buy on payday. I would also like to see a preservation of The little norse prince valiant. An english dub was made of it and brodcast on TBS in the 80's I know some people have a tape of it it would be nice to take the audio from it and the Recently released Pal transfer and then we could have both japanese and english audio with good dvd video.

I have also been meaning to do a preservation of my Warriors of the Wind VHS. I was thinking about using the audio from it and edition the dvd Nausicaa into it. So I could have the worst dub and edit job in history on widescreen dvd. This I wouldn't be able to do anytime soon though because I lack the experience. I could probably do all of the cutting but then I would have to add the tilte screen and remove some japanese characters from the dvd transfer And I don't know how to do that stuff yet.

Hope this starts off again soon.
