The 1977 Crawl.
Time
I was pretty sure the crawl (scroll) in the beginning was redone as well and not from the LD. Only because from other boots I have which are LD rips, the entire text body from left to right is a little thinner. On the Star Wars OUT DVD you can tell when the first line appears from the bottom of the frame you can't see the 'I' in 'It' because the start of the text line goes outside the TV safe zone. But from other boots I have, for example TR47/Cowclops V2, the text (It) starts exactly where the TV safe area starts.

Also I think the angle of perspective is a little different. I set up two DVD players and paused a frame in the exact same place, and switched back and fourth from the inputs, and the text body is definetley wider and I'm pretty sure a different angle of persepctive. Maybe the LD used in tr47/cowclops version is just like that, but the new OUT looks an awful lot like the PT crawls.

Plus, I really feel LF pulled some kind of Garret Gilchrist classic edition edit, where they mixed altered SE or 04 DVD material with older LD material. Places where you might not notice. I mean it doesn't look as good (or as fake) as the new 04 stuff but it seems to 'new' perfect example when Luke meets Ben for the first time or when R2 is in 'the land of the jawas'. The color and clarity is very high. More like the 04 DVD than the LD. Unless they cleaned them up.

This guy will not be buying the DVDs

MAN, that was some funny shit. However I can't say I agree with him entirely.

He makes some good points Though. And besides the whole world is about money. So can you blame Lucas.

Ha, I'm sitting here laughing at the computer screen almost as loud as I was when I first saw the shit-ass Jabba the Hutt CGI in the Star Wars SE. I still cannot get over Han stepping on his tale. Oh, shit I just vomited on my keyboard thinking about it.

British people are cool.

2004 DVD crap-o-la
Time
I have to admit, and not ashamed to, with the new discs out today I just saw the 'new fixed' stuff from the 2004 DVDs and of course with the material from the '97 SE for the first time. (I did see SE in the theatre, but just saw the super enhanced DVDs for the first time) And I have to say no self-respecting Wars fan should have ever bought the '04 discs or watch them. They are so bad. I couldn't stop shaking my head when watching Jedi Rocks, or Hayden's head on the spirit of Anakin. Or Han steppin on Jabba's tale. How many times does he have to say 'Han my bookie". C'mon why is Luke's sabre green when he is training in the falcon? And why is Tatooine celebrating when the Empre falls? And how horrible is the new dialouge between the emp and Vader in ESB. "The young rebel who destroyed the Death star is the off spring of Anakin Skywalker" Now that was a great idea!
HAAAAAAAAA

HOW BAD IS THE EWOK SONG AT THE END!!!!!!!!!???????????

First Impressions of the OOT ...
Time
Check out Empire. From just skimming through it I noticed a few occurrences where the very bottom of the frame has a thick red line when changing from one shot to another.
1) The awesome shot in the cockpit of the Falcon from behind looking out the window approaching Cloud City. When it changes to the shot of the crew facing left, the last frame before the shot change you’ll see it.
2) Also, the establishing shot of Leia in the penthouse in CC, when the shot changes from the exterior to the interior.

I’m at work right now but I’ll put up a capture when I get home if no else does by then.

2006 OT DVD: the deal with the Best Buy tin ...
Time
I bought the tin at Best Buy in North Jersey for 60 spot... but I'm not opening it. Keeping it sealed in the plastic. I went at noon and no one else was there was buying any of the new DVDs. Then I went to Circuit City to buy individual DVDs for 14.99 and the lithographs are pretty damn cool. Same deal, saw no one buying any SW DVDs.

So your saying the tin just holds the three regular cases. I put Eps 1-3 along side the case and it seemed like they were too thick to fit in the tin... I was wondering for like three hours what was inside..

It looks pretty cool though. Wish I could say that about the chapter menus.

Hayden Christensen wins Razzie for ROTS
Time
Sorry MeBe, I didn't mean to compare Christensen and Sarsgaard. Bad choice of wordage by me. I just meant to say that he wasn't good in it. And in no relation Sarsgaard is awesome. He would have made a good anakin if he was a little younger.
And HC was good in the scene when he and Obi-Wan argue before the duel.
But even in life as a house he has that monotone (well I can't explain it real well), like he's acting, You can't emerse yourself in his character because you think he is not real.
But I think the main thing is Lucas picked him for his look and not necessarily for his acting ability.

I'm sure you saw the doc from the TPM DVD with the cast auditions. Lloyd was just horrible and it seemed like he would have a problem with the strange dialouge and Lucas was like "This kid is awesome" How good of a choice was that

All good points about the acting. Lucas has been ripped all the time for his shitty dialouge and directimg skills. - "Faster more intense" - But here's the thing HC is just a shitty actor. Case in point he looked like a joke in "Shattered Glass" opposite Peter Sarsgaard who probaly is the best actor right now. And he wasn't good in "Life as a House" either. Though they were both Awesome movies.
And of course Natalie Portman is a preety good actress "Garden State", "The one with the baby in the Walmart" but her acting is crap-o-la in these flicks.

OBI-WAN: "Anakin is in danger"
PADME: "From the Sith?"

HA. Blame GL for the writing...

But Lucas didn't pick these people on acting talent. He had a vision in his mind of what Anakin looked liked and when Hayden walked into the room he said "This is the guy. I don't care if he speak English. They speak English in Canada right? OK He's in!"

Natalie Portman hosting SNL this weekend...
Time
Anyone have a link that works or a capture of Portman's monolouge on SNL. I missed that part. The link from TFN to youtube has been taken down.
In a side note she looked pretty good with the slick boy hair cut, like in the rap video. But I work for the Knicks and she came to a game like 3 weeks ago and she didn't look so good with her short curly hair. Because she has a big forehead.
Never mind.

Uncle Owen and Kenobi added dialogue at the end of ROTS
Time
CO, that shit is just to funny.

The whole Luke living on Tatooine with his "Unlce" and "Aunt" is the worst connection between the two trilogies.

Listen, Im from New Jersey and when ex mobster go into protective custody, they ALWAYS keep the same name and live in the same place with their relatives. The people looking for them would never find them.

Im being Facetious of course.

The part of the story just bothers me.

Watching in order 1-6 is screwing up the original SW for newcomers!
Time
I'm not gonna make this (too) long because no one wants to read a long post.

All I can say is on Thursday I took on the task of watching all six movies back-to-back. It took almost 15 hours (Because the stupid plummer came and bothered me during the club scene in Episode II). Fans have to watch all six movies in Episode order I-Jedi, but new-comers should watch the movies in the order in which they were made. Star Wars-Sith.

Watching 13+ hours af Star Movies was pretty awesome. I was waiting to do this since Episode I came out. And basically all I can say is Episodes I and II are not that great, story connection a little weak (Being nice) but the rest are awesome. And you really only have to watch III, Empire and Jedi to get the real story of the movies in which Lucas implied. The chosen one's fall and his redemption by his son. I get goosebumps every time I watch those movies (And fight back tears at III and Jedi (especailly the funeral pire)

I don't know why everybody disses Jedi. Yeah the Endor battle is a little crapy, but the whole 6-part movie revolevs around Anakin and Luke, that's why I think III and Jedi might be the best of the herd.

And yes there are numerous things that don't make sense between the originals and the prequels. But that is a whole new thread. We all can go on for years discussing that.

YourFriendKaysar and Ewok

The reason you're getting that error when trying to upload to grisan is probably because you're trying to upload your pictures locally. That is, you have the pictures on your hard drive. You have to host them on a website and then upload them to grisan's site. Essentially, the images don't actually reside on grisans server. The images are like links, similar to how these boards show images.

Ewok, don't want to sound critical, but I noticed a few things about the text on the back covers. Though, these are probably just your first quick drafts anyway. Thought I'd just give you a heads up. On ESB, the first line sounds a little strange with the word "Empire" used twice. Also, the plural of "Jedi" is "Jedi". And in the last sentence it should be "Empire's progress".

On ANH, it seems you lost your place and wrote the same phrase twice... "save the galaxy from the evil". And Obi-Wan should have a hypen, I believe.

Svenge:

I can't find a site to host my images at full res. I also have Case Cover art back on page 61 of this thread. The PhotosShop files for the disc art are about 1.2 MB each (at 100 pix/inch) and the cover art files are about 21 MB each (at 300 pix/inch) If you know of a way I can get the high res files out, let me know. But Svenge you are the first to ask for them so I never thought about putting out the high res images.

***The Official FAN CREATED DVD Reviews and Feedback Thread***
Time
The few things thing i noticed about Cowclops are... that it seems audio is out of sync with video. It may just be me but I compared it to my VHS and my beta-DVD transfers. I can't really be sure. I have to bring it into work and go frame by frame to check this. Also there is some pixelation. I was actually a little tiny bit, tiny bit that it is, surprised that it was taken from Laser disc and passed through an encoder because my VHS transfers are not much better and the bit rate is about the same.

Here's an example of some pixelation...
When Luke and the Gammorean guard are dropped into the rancor pit, as soon as the shot changes to see Luke and the guard slide from the shoot, the walls are a little blocky.

And I don't know if this is just my dics, but at a few points (that Ive noticed just from skimming) there is a noise line. Kind of similar to what you would see from a worn out VHS tape or bad tracking.

Example... TESB-When the probe droid is moving to the left of the screen after it first appears behind a snow mound.
ROTJ-Right before C3P0 explains how the "heroes" are going to die in the Sarlaac Pit. The camera is shooting up at the skiff from the pit.

However the Menus are pretty damn good.

Commentary track is useless because it is also on the Trilogy Bonus disc and it says who is speaking.

The Cowclops Transfers (a.k.a. the PCM audio DVD's, Row47 set) Info and Feedback Thread (Released)
Time
I've been looking around at all the sites. But I have a whole shit load of DVD R already, so I don't need that many. I'd get 25 if that's the least they sell. I just want to make sure the discs I get are completely flat, no ridge around the hub or branding that is not lasered into the disk. The Ritek discs that TR47 sends out in the set are pretty damn good. Any discs like that that you know of.
