The intelligence of SW Fan boys....
Time
At last someone who speaks sense. I’d like to agree with ‘The Bizzle’, who seams to be the single voice of sense in an endless mass of insults, rattle throwing, half truths and outright lies. This forum has degenerated to low levels recently, and has been the sole reason why I decided to stop posting. But after a long break and curious reaction to the recently released DVD’s I decided to have a quick look in. I signed the petition and support this sites stance, but it is very difficult to read through endless threads of insults and negative diatribe. Frankly I have better things to do then read post after post of fiction pertaining to be fact, and then seeing the fiction used as fuel for hate campaigns.

Bizzle I would just like to say I support your views. It is very heartening to read an intelligent post. You are not alone. There are many of us who want to hold discussions, based on documented knowledge, but feel pushed out by ill informed posters quick to shout you down. I hope to continue reading your posts

Disney Forbidding Distribution of Film That Criticizes Bush
Time
An open letter to Jimbo:

Jimbo when you first showed up on these boards flaunting your views, I found it amusing. Many times I’ve actually sat and laughed out loud. Your views sparked controversy amongst hard core Original Trilogy fans, and there’s nothing wrong with a good debate. I even stuck up for you when many wanted you to leave. Mostly I suppose because I thought you were being ‘ironic’, something Brits are very fond of. Hell I like to use a touch of it myself when replying to boards. But I didn’t count on the fact that you where actually being serious.

I have to say your recent comments regarding Bush and Homosexuals utterly deplorable and so utterly offensive on so many levels. Before you yell ‘Liberal Cronie’ This view is nothing to do with ‘Liberalism’; but is based on common ‘human rights’. Your despicable view that ‘Homosexuality is ruining society’, has a tone bordering on fascism. In 1939 it was Jews and gypsies that where ‘ruining society’ for Nazis. These people offended Nazis so much that burning them to death was the answer. Your notion that homosexuality is a sickness to be ‘cured’ leaves me sick. You sound like a white supremist in the making. Views like yours are even more shocking as your generation are to inherit the free society that millions have fought to uphold.

Star Wars...The TV series!!
Time
I’m with Jedi Master DJR on this. I can’t understand why most of you are in negative “the glass is half empty” mode. I’ve mentioned this before, but modern television is the new medium for quality drama, surpassing even cinema. It has been even likened by critics to 1970’s cinema as a so called ‘Golden Age’. Which seems pretty apt if you ask me.

One thing is certain however; it will probably be shot down no matter what, as seems the norm with most things on the web now days. You can’t please everyone that’s for sure. I suppose my beef with all this is, this TV project has not even been officially announced and it’s already being shot down as ‘terrible news.’ Have you all truly reached the point when we are willing to disregard anything new? Have you become so inflexible in your vision that you reject everything that doesn’t adhere to your view? Will you simply right it off before it has a chance, pouncing on every bit of web rumour as fact? Congratulating yourselves in the knowledge that George Lucas actually DID ruin your lives, individually, purposefully and with malice?

Star Wars...The TV series!!
Time
Without igniting a Trek V’s Wars debate, Star Trek The Next Generation was a great Science Fiction series in a day when there was no SF on television. Its easy to forget in ‘genre’ saturated times how little Sci Fi was actually on TV during the mid 80’s to early 90’s. I may be wrong but it may have been the only Sci Fi show on TV for a couple of years of the 80’s. Although STNG seem dated and too politically correct now, at the time it was a provoking science fiction show when there was none. Star Wars on the other hand has never attempted to be classed as Sci Fi, but would no doubt be labelled as that anyway.

Star Wars...The TV series!!

I can’t understand why everyone is disregarding this idea at so early a stage of its development. Nothing has been confirmed. No one is attached to it, writers, actors, directors. Nothing is known about it at all. Yet people are all ready saying ‘I don’t like the sound of this’ What is wrong with you all? This type of reaction never happens when a new novel is announced, or graphic book. However, if it turns out to be a new ‘animated show’, that would seem to have the thumbs up of approval? Can anybody please offer a good reason to disregard the notion of this project, without using phrases like ‘dude’ & ‘sucks’? I await with baited breath, for your no doubt amusing replies.

I will always remember The Girl Next Door
Time

Guys

Girl Next Door can’t be compared with Shawshank Redemption or It's A Wonderful Life as it will never be a 'Classic'. There are a few amusing moments, but it mostly made me 'smirk' or 'giggle' as apposed to 'laugh out loud'. It is not 'smart' or even that original, with 'Risky Business' being an obvious inspiration, however it’s clearly not as good. Its surprising this movie was 'R' rated in the states as the only people that would genuinely enjoy it would have to be way below that age. As a whole its more 'disappointing' then good

It's official! the 2004 OT DVD release will be the Special Editions :(
Time

Picket lines aren’t a bad idea.

Picture this:

A few fans dressed as Wookies, Storm Troopers etc, holding placards asking for the 'original versions' to be released on DVD. Similar in approach to Michael Moore's Awful Truth. Humorous and satirical, not the crazy ideas that people are having. Time it for the release day in September, call a couple of news desks and ‘voila’ instant news story on every TV set in America.

Info Wanted: i'm a newbie, with a question - I won an ebay auction for the 1995 VHS...

I suppose like anything else its dependant on condition. According to Steve Sansweet “Video collecting is not at the top of ‘Collecting’ at the moment, but give it time”. There is definitely more interest in them at the moment, as its still the only way of watching the ‘Original Theatrical Versions”. EBay prices seem to fluctuate drastically with some sellers pricing at £50-£80, while others price at £9.99. I’ve picked up some ‘Original Rental’ copies for less then a tenner. They will become more collectible when DVD finally sees off VHS, and the format itself will become a retro part of the past.

Star Wars: The Rise of Darth Vader = TV series
Time
Sounds like an interesting proposition. This would not have been achievable a couple of years ago. But in the advent of technology over the past few years, a full blown Star Wars TV series can be realised effectively. After all ‘Television’ is considered to be the new ‘Movies’, with many critics likening it to the 70’s era of Cinema. TV shows like CSI, 24 and others, use Movie like production values, stars and gritty storytelling. Hope this rumours true.

These are almost identical to the set released in the UK. The text and certification at the bottom of the cases were not present. The THX certification text at the top of the pic where at the bottom on the UK versions. Nice set though NRG_2000. My advice would be to keep them shrink wrapped. If you think about it, this set is now 9 years old, nothing to be sniffed at. I'm guessing very few people have kept them in this condition. If you are intent on watching the 'Original (and best) Versions' I would suggest getting a cheap used edition on Ebay that you can watch over and over again to your hearts content.
