Help Wanted: Fan Edit in German Language audio track

@boon23

another German(speaking), nice :)

First let me say that i value your opinion and that it's not demotivating for me!

I finally got a tool that extracts me the ac3. I shouldn't have looked only here but instead in the FAQ-Section... silly me :)

i believe it can be done, but will naturally be an enormous effort. That doesn't set me back. i have made similar Tasks before.

And for the German Track to say, for sure an original Version is well... the original. But, i saw those Movies first in german and i saw them often. For me the german Voices are "familiar". That most of the World does not translate Movies and one should prefer the originals, are weak arguments.

If one should prefer the original version of any movie, than this complete Board would be obsolete. What i try to do is in one way or the other the same, as the guys here do. Make the Version of a Movie that i can mostly enjoy.

Second, it's true that movies aren't translated in all of the languages in the World. But in the significant ones it is being made. That's: German, French, Spanish, Russian, Italien. Netherlands should be among of them, but for reasons i cannot imagine they don't do it.  But thats another case. For example, not everyone in the World speaks english, but why should they be denied to enjoy a movie, because of that. 80% of the People in the World speak one or the other language mentioned before. For the rest... well, not everything is possible. But you catch the majority, and thats the Point!

AC3 extraction is on it's way, and when done i will see if i can handle the major Part myself or if i have to come in touch with Adywan and then to what degree.

I don't want to piss anybody here off, that TESB -Revisited- is beeing delayed because of me ;)

And when i'm done with it (hopefully) i will make my own Fan-Edit of "Star Trek - Voyager" removing Capatin "Mommy" Janeway completly....

...Just Kidding :D (It's impossible, but i would like that)

Kind Regards

Romuluz

Yes, they are, or so it seems.

when opening in Virtualdubmod, the properties window says:

Tag: 0x2000, Decodable AC3, 6 Channels

Tomorrow i will try to rip them directly from the vob files.

...such things make me crazy...

Oh, and by the way, i never thought of "just" replacing the German Center Channel with the one in the -Revisited- :)

I had my amount in Audio-syncing, to know that this never works :)))

Only till today i never worked with multichannel Audio.

Gruß

Romi

Yeah but I guess replacing the center channel of Adywan's edit with the one from the german DVD won't work,

because there are new sound effects and new music on the center channel of Adywan's edit that are missing on the original DVD.

You have to contact Adywan for his sound effect track and music track.

Nevertheless there are several ways to extract the center channel. One way is to use BeSweet. This program is able to split the 5.1 audio of the DVD into 6 single mono wave files. One of them is the center channel.

Oops, i forgot to mention, that i tried to use besweet in the first place.

but everytime i run it to process, it hangs up saying "Besweet hat ein Problem festgestellt und muss beendet werden" (...has a problem and will be terminated) resulting in 6 Files with 0 KB ... :(

Sonic Foundry can also not read the ac3.

same is with any other ac3 :(

mmh, i'm using ac3 from AVI Files not from the Actual DVDs, since i only wanted to test a little bit. Can that be the cause?

Of course it's possible to create a german audio track. I guess you'll have to write to Adywan, you need his sound effect track and music track. And you'll need the center channel of the german 5.1 audio track on your dvd...

Hi Master Qui-Gon,

Thanks for your advise. So far i got to the same Solution.

My first approch was to extract the ac3 from the Edit trying to un-tie it.

Here my Problems began. For Days now, i'm searching the Internet for a Solution to split the AC3 into 6 WAV Tracks that i could begin to work with.

Every Application i tried, simply gave me a Stereotrack back.

That included Sony Sound Forge 9 as well.

Here is where i need help in particular. Some advice which Applications to use, to get what i want.

But even here, i may err. Maybe this is the wrong start?!

As i mentioned before i would appreciate help from Guys who have the technical knowledge.

I don't want to bother Guys like Adywan, since they seem to be too busy. This would only be my last action.

Kind Regards

Hello altogether.

I’m brand new to this Forum (in Terms of writing posts), so let me first introduce myself…

I’m Romuluz, a 38 Year Old German from Cologne, Northrine-Westphalia.

I’m a Star Wars addictive since 1977.

First of all, i really like what you People are doing here… and i want to do it myself 😃

I have done some Video-Editing myself, mainly preservation of old VHS Movies which are not released on DVD or such.

I heard of “The Phantom Edit” many Years ago but never tracked down a copy for myself.

This changed about 2 Weeks ago as i finally wanted to see what the Editor has done to lift the crumbling original Movie. I noticed that there were far more Edits from Star Wars than i ever could imagine.

I also came across the famous SW EP 4 -Revisited-

As pleased as i was with this edition, i was also saddend that it has no German Voice Track.

I believe many Germans aren’t aware that such Edits are in existence and many Germans don’t understand enough English to enjoy them.

Since it is all to clear to me that the Editors here (Adywan for example) have no Time for creating additional Audiotracks i wonder if it is possible to do them myself, thus adding them to the Project(s).

I would appreciate any technical advise to this purpose. So, if you are willing to help me please PM me 😃

i have a hole lot of Original Material (German, of course) here to work with. This include 3 different VHS Editions, 3 Editions of Laserdiscs and of Course the DVDs.

I hope you consider me serious in that matter and will help me!

Kind Regards

Romuluz

(I hope my English isn’t to bad, but i’m a bit rusted)
