Ironically, I think the prequels can be greatly improved with fan edits, but I don’t think there’s any way to fan-edit out the objectionable stuff in this one to make it better.

Really? I feel like The Force Awakens is hard to edit in a way that would please those who didn’t like it at first. If you trim down the fat in The Last Jedi however, I’m pretty sure most people that didn’t like it would like it. The Prequel Trilogy is a lost cause if you don’t like it.

Except my main issue with the movie is how characters behave and storylines presented in TFA are resolved. Sure you could remove the irrelevant Finn/Rose plot, but that’s not going to solve all the other stuff that was underwhelming.

I fail to see what is supposed to be so “different” about this movie.

That’s pretty much what I’ve been saying. I guess it was “different” by dismissing all the mysteries teased to us in TFA, and it presented an unexpected change in character for Luke. That isn’t the kind of different that gets me excited about Star Wars. I would’ve been OK with Luke’s character if it was in a better movie and there was a plan for even more Luke in IX, but the way his story arc ended up was unsatisfying.

Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)

Had a question for everyone about v2.5.  (But first my thanks to Harmy.  What you've done goes far beyond just making people like me feel like a kid again back in the summer of 1977.  You've actually made an incredible contribution to the history of film preservation.)

I noticed that, for me, the first audio track (I assume its the 70mm six-track mix since it shows up as Track 1 DTS) gets interrupted by George Lucas droning on and on right after Luke meets Ben and we see the shot of the landspeeder outside his house.  So I'm wondering if I did something wrong when I burned this to Blu-ray, or if that track is really supposed to surprise us like that when we watch the movie.  ;)

Thanks so much Harmy for this gift to all the Star Wars fans who remember seeing this historic film in its unaltered glory and wanted it preserved so it's never forgotten. It took me a few days to figure out how to make a proper Blu-ray from an MKV file, but as another member here suggested - ClownBD worked perfectly. I just finished watching it and I'm still feeling like a kid on Christmas morning.
