Having only listened to the mono audio from the 2005 DVD, which also has its setbacks, makes me wish the laserdisc version gets the preservation it deserves and synced up with the latest releases (and to hear it for myself 🙃).
This is interesting.
When I watched the film for myself, I struggled to understand what made the film so reverred by others.
Whether it was the workprint or the FC, I just found myself feeling nothing by the end.
This made me want to see if there are such fan edits that could bring life into this film.
And this one looks and sounds promising.

While I do find digital files of unofficial 35mm scans to be neat, sometimes I just want to sit back and enjoy a film in great quality (unlike those official digital “cleanup” releases) with lots of audio options…
