Hello Folks,

Today’s my first day on this site. I’ve been a lifelong fan of Star Wars. Being just a toddler when Return of the Jedi was released in the theaters, I don’t remember ever “seeing” the movies a first time because they were pretty much a constant part of my childhood. I don’t remember being gifted Star Wars action figures, I just always had them 😃

That said, I’m not much of a fan of anything beyond the original trilogy. So I’ve struggled with a love/hate relationship as I saw wealthy individuals and corporate entities turn something nostalgic and meaningful into a cash cow that wrecked what I loved. I had kinda given up and distanced myself from it the past few years, but as my children have heard about Star Wars at school and what-not, I decided I couldn’t just allow them to learn about it the wrong way - they had to know the OT. And introducing them to the movies has reminded me just how much I really do love the OT.

I just found out about the despecialized edition this week and will be watching it with my family soon. Thanks to all the fans and contributors that have made that possible. I’m not a film editor or even a film junkie, I don’t watch TV at all and don’t follow pop culture. I’m just a serious fan of the OT and I’m glad to have found a place where I can feel comfortable being that type of fan.

Things you DISLIKE about the Original Trilogy ( but not the Ewoks, Leia and Luke being siblings, Death Star 2 etc.)
Time

I’m brand new to this forum, this is my first post. I’m a huge fan of the original trilogy, and I’m not a fan of much else 😃 I love games, toys, etc. that focus on the original trilogy.

My #1 pet peeve from the original trilogy (that I will change if I ever write my own interpretation): In ep 4, when the Rebels have launched their attack on the Death Star and Vader decides to scramble fighters to fight the Rebels, only about 15 TIEs are launched. Wow, seriously? If I were Vader and it was my Death Star, I’d be sure to outnumber the Rebel fighters at least 2 to 1. If, say, 80 fighters were launched instead of 15, and the Rebels still found a way to cut through and destroy the DS, it would have been all the more glorious and epic 😃
