Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)

Thank you! > ChainsawAsh said:

Note that you’ll have to choose which audio track(s) to include, as well as subtitles if you include them, for it to be BR compatible, which will also save on space. Just uncheck the ones you don’t want before you hit the button to let tsmuxer do its thing.

I may be misremembering about the number of audio tracks allowed and the number included in the MKV might be fine for a BR, but either way, you can uncheck (for example) all the foreign language ones you won’t need, or keep only the 5.1 or 2.0 DTS track if you think won’t switch between them. The DTS tracks especially eat up a good chunk of file size.

Pretty sure subtitles are limited to 32 tracks on a BR, though.

I talked to him and indeed he encoded the files (I guess to save space). Well, thanks to the help of all of you now we know where the problem is. Will give it a second try soon.

Yeah, just use tsmuxer to convert the MKV into a Blu-Ray ISO (or BDMV folder), then burn the ISO or folder directly to a disc. That way you aren’t altering the video or audio in any way, and as has been said, the existing files are already 100% Blu-Ray compatible.

No, I did not buy them. My friend told me that he had the DE editions and offered to burn a copy for me. I bought the blu rays and he did what he had offered.> ZigZig said:

720p24 does invite player problems because it can’t be transmitted over HDMI natively.

Are you sure? I never heard that HDMI cannot transmit 720p24.

Anyway, the two half-frames of Rebel1990’s screenshot are #166 974 and #166 988, so it seems that there is a gap of 14 frames in his version. So it is more than probably an error during the encoding made by his friend.

“Official?” Are there different versions? I am pretty sure he followed Harmy’s instructions.> ZigZig said:

Well, there is lot of people who reencoded the files, with less subtitles, only one audio track, or a higher compression (or who sell it on eBay 😦 ). I just want to mean that I checked the original file as I downloaded it when it was released.

I tried it on two different players, both with the same outcome. The sound does not skip though.

It’s only a minor glitch and I should not complain, but as a Fan… 😉

I just checked, there is no such encoding error in the “official” mkv v2.7. So this issue must come from your friend’s encoding.

Or the player might be converting 720p24 to 1080i for HDMI transmission, and the TV’s turning is back into 1080p and one or both of the devices are not handling it well. 720p24 does invite player problems because it can’t be transmitted over HDMI natively.

A friend of mine did the burning for me as I do not have the equipment to do so. I will ask him next time I see him.

Strange. At first I was concerned about an entire frame slipping in somewhere, as these kinds of things can happen in the editing process. I have a decent process for checking for those faults, though. This looks much more like an encoding or playback error.

This kind of encoding error may have happened on my end, but it seems a little less likely to me. Can you give the details of the file? Format, exact size, checksum ideally? I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s something someone transcoded into a smaller file to throw on a public tracker, but perhaps not!

I am watching Star Wars Despecialized Edition V 2.7 now. Towards the end there seems to be problem with the picture. I cannot really explain it. But when Luke, Han and Chewie enter the hall you see Luke first, then Han and finally Chewie. Then cut to the bystanders right in the middle of the shot of the bystanders, a frame of Chewbacca shows up and quickly goes away. Does somebody else have the same problem?

Do you have a timecode for when this happens? This is for the ending celebration, right?

Hello Guys,

I am new to the world of Star Wars. I was obviously aware of the franchise and of the controversy sorrounding the SE changes. I started directly with Harmy’s Despecialized Editions and the movies are brilliant! Now, my question: have all the changes made by George been eliminated? Because I read there are new versions coming out made by Harmy and I wonder why? Or is he using other elements that need no upscaling? Will the upcoming Version differ in term of content or “only” by the elements used for the reconstruction (and delivering the movies in 1080p)? Hope I can find help.
Thank you all and especially to Harmy!
