Hey Anjohan! Always great to see you up to another project. Are you considering subtitles? They would help a great deal to make your edits reach to a bigger audience. I know that you’re just doing this for you and your family and just shearing with us, so thank you anyway. Star Wars goes beyond English native speakers, but unfortunately, most edits don’t.
I’m just waiting on Warner Bros. Discovery to resume the official HP extended editions. One that I’d really like to see is their own two-in-one cut of Deathly Hallows that includes both released and previously unseen footage.
Some of the scenes I want to see in particular are:
• Lupin asking Harry to be Teddy’s godfather
• Extended ‘Exodus’ montage that was featured in the trailers
• Additional footage of Scabior, which producer David Heyman said “was like watching Saw”
• In general, more Death Eather and battle footage
• Draco’s redemption, which everyone seems to be going crazy over 🙄
• Alternate death scene for Voldemort (Now this is a must! 😁)And many, many more. There is so much footage that I can’t bring myself to list every single scene right now, but more footage is always a plus. 😎
Oh wow!, when is this releasing and where? HBO Max or blu ray?
Hi! as someone who enjoyed Rebels (skipping the poorly rated episodes), I’m very interested in this when V2 of season 2 is ready to watch. Do you plan on doing subtitles for it?
Mate, we all here appreciate your work, and the huge effort that you have put behind it. I don’t think there’s anyone that has seen your work that doesn’t have it as their go to. Is just that some have really great home cinemas or great HDR 4k TVs and would love to have the best experience possible, and some don’t even own a proper TV or even watch your edits on tablets or smartphones, and for them, size matters more than quality. That’s about it.
Most editors here always release several versions of their edit in different sizes and qualities. Some top notch, the best that can be, some 1080p, 720p and a crappy one that is easy to download and store. Even some still do make a DVD version divided in 5 so you can burn it and watch it on a DVD player.
Hey Anjohan! I watched the V1, great stuff, now we have the Kenobi we deserved. The one that was hidden in the series, as you pointed out from the very beginning, even before the series was half way through. Glad to read that V2 is on the works now, I think the changes you pointed out can help improve the film and the parts you have chosen not to change are the parts I wouldn’t change either for the V2, they work as they are.
About the Haja and Obi-Wan conversation before The Alternate Rescue, I agree with Glogus that the “making amends” should come back, as it explains why Haja accepts to help (It might be too on the nose for some, but to me, it helps clarify he is not a bad guy, just has been derailed from the good path a bit in this hard times, but has a good hart), but I think the scene works as it is, except I would mute or delete one of Obi wan sentences on it. With Kenobi’s determined “and you are going to help me” we don’t need the doubtful “will you help me?” that comes later. I think going from “and you will help me” to Haja’s acceptance/resignation gesture should be enough. A jedi is telling you to give help and you will. Then Haja can “make amends” to keep him there the rest of the film.
Another scene that might (might not) work better is, when Obi and Leia argue in the ship escaping the destructor (I wish there was a way of explaining why they don’t send the Thai fighters immediately or why they don’t obliterate the ship entirely, or at least a way to make the entire sequence 30 seconds long, to avoid the other 2 options). So having Obi wan argue with Leia, then fixing things with her, then talking to an adult (Haja) about making certain she gets home then leaving ship maybe flows better than: argue- Haja talk -fix things with Leia -leave, as it is now.
All in all, love this edit already as is, this is going to be my go-to (or the V2) when I want to revisit Kenobi (which I now want to do, not as with the series).
I think your job and nightmares sequence works really well and does the job way better than the series cut, and the alternative rescue as you call it would feel natural to a newcomer. Your point for Obi not using the force there is solid to me.
Many thanks to Andreas and every one participating in this.
PD: I know this was out the minute I first watched it, but thanks for cutting out the dumbest backflip ever recorded in the history of TV
The only way I could see the smoothening of that is to remove Haja going “You can trust me” and “Definitely”, and instead try to restructure it after Obi-Wan’s “Can I trust you?” to Haja looking at him, either concerned or thoughtful.
Yeah, I like that.
You could cut the whole swimming scene and go directly to the stormtrooper opening the door and Obi-Wan choking him out. You can assume he’s wet from being in the “sewers”.
Order the scenes as:
- Obi confronts Haja
- Obi in the streets
- Random creatures
- Elevator
- Imperials monitoring the computers
- Stormtrooper opening door and Obi’s: "I’m in’
This will also help to explain why he didn’t have to swim back with Leia.
Shorten Haja’s dialogue to Obi in the streets:
“Alright if it’s the sewers you want there’s only one place to go. I’ll buy you as much time as I can.”Let’s not have Haja spell out his “making amends” intentions to the audience like we’re too dumb to understand.
Edit: Haja is a Jedi fanboy. Of course he wants to help a real one.
I think that could also work, as we see the that they are underwater in the monitoring scene. Also Kenobi is on fully dry clothes, not soaking wet ones, as he should be. (I know, I know, “It aint that kind of movie, kid”, but still.)
Exposition redesign as suggested by Vranir, and alterations to the overall soundmix.
I think it’s a bit of a stretch to call that huge water area “the sewers”. But maybe it’s because I know it isn’t and the hypothetical new spectator won’t notice. Anyhow if that means that we get a bit of Chapter 4 character development and we get our only one rescue (the good one) I’m up for it. I mean I like the idea behind it.
On a side note, I think Haja agrees to help Kenobi way to fast, I don’t know if there’s a way to make the cut less obvious or fast.
Also loving what this post is achieving and the amount of ideas and participants in it!
I like Acbagel cut better for it feels more like Vader is actually trying to catch Kenobi (force extinguishing the fire a second time after an explosion that makes the fire bigger and harder to force jump across). Also, Vader saying nothing feels more in character to me than talking to no one. Vader is not a big talker.
Ochi being nobody fits this edit perfectly well
This seems really interesting. I would love a link for it, please!
Ah great! I asked for the V1.5 some time ago via the email in this post, but got no answer. Should I proceed in the same way this time? I had the V1.5 in an old HDD which sadly, died, but I didn’t have your link for them. Thanks in advance
I think I found a better and more natural solution than the original dialogue idea.
As far as that FakeYou site. It can produce decent results, but i find the GitHub release much better and more powerful. Sometimes the voices can be rendered almost robotic through the site, requiring a lot of post-render work in Audacity and Vegas.
However, audio trickery - and especially dialogue - is always difficult. It took me nearly two hours just to produce this snippet - and I don’t know if it will work, but here it is:
The “You are not his padawan anymore” bit sounds funny with headphones (cheap ones), a bit too robotic and with a diferent ‘tone’. With the laptop speakers is barely noticeable. I think I can tell doe to the prior headphones listening and wouldn’t have noticed otherwise
Ah! Christmas is here! I dind’t watch V1 so really hyped for this one! Thanks to anyone who participated in the making of this! Ascendant Xmas to you all!
Hey there Gang!!
I uploaded all of these to the squeedily spooch (the organ site - with closed membership)
JJPotter - the work of the gods!
Did you ask JJP before posting?
Negative
I hope that at the very least you credited him.
Good to hear that the Big D scene is getting better and amplified. Your 1.5v are my head canon of the HP movies universe.
I’m with Burbin as well, TIE is more poetic, feels good.
I think the smaller size movies idea is great! I do want that. Some editors, such as Hal900, have some of their movies in different formats (1080, 720, DVD) so that everyone can download the version they can fit in their blurays, DVDs or HDD, but if you can make a great quality one about 2GB, then I say “go for it”.
Hi Hal! I would love to have the updated version, may I have a link to your star wars edits? Seems like I lost the old Wan with my laptop change. Cheers!
Good to know you’re operative! I’m really looking forward for that Dudley’s Redemption scene. Take the time you need; the quality of your edits is top notch!
Honestly I’d be very sad to see the “Babu Frik, he’s one of my oldest friends” line go.
+1
YES! The complete Revisited Saga! Looking forward to it. I think this Easter is going to be a bit darker… in a good way.
Big thanks go to PodracingThisIs91 for the painstaking effort in creating Spanish subtitles for this project! I have uploaded the SRT file to the drive for those who have already downloaded Rekindled and simply would like to mux in the subtitles themselves, but I also have remuxed the full films myself and re-uploaded them to drive.
These are currently only for the main V3 version with the Palpatine teases. I hope to be able to provide Spanish subs for the “No-Palp” version in the future.
Once again, thank you PodracingThisIs91!
Thank you for this awesome edit. It was a pleasure to be able to give something back to this movie and this community.
Here’s a full mockup of the Ach-To sequence, featuring a regrade by NeverArGreat:

I actually really, really like this! 😃
My only suggestions would maybe be that the colours of the very first shot of the island are a little funky looking and could probably match the following shots a little better. I also think the moment inside of Luke’s hut should by made a little more distinctly nighttime since at the moment it looks a little too ‘day-to-night’ if you get that reference. 😉
I agree with all of this. Less orange, more night. I like it. You guys (everyone involved) are amazing, really looking forward to V2. I have V1 and haven’t watched it cause I would rather wait for the perfected version.
PD: I love the purple saber.
PD2: I can NOT notice the wig, never had a problem with it, kill me.
If what skyled proposes can be pulled out, I would say it would make for a better plot.
Glad I could help.
I double checked which ones by the second where happens, but the one you said is the one where is most noticeable.
It happens barely at: 1:48:42, 1:48:54, 1:49:23, 1:50:34
Slightly: 1:49:11
Noticeable: the one you said at 1:51:09
Maybe by heavily trimming the scene of the keys would work as well. He is supposed to be an Ace with the broom, so you could make it a really fast paced challenge. I did a test with Vr.2. with trimming it like this:
Cut at 1:38:06 when he points at the key and shouts “the one with the broken wing” to 1:38:29 until 1:38:34 when Harry’s hand grabs the broom and keys start going down. Cut until he is already almost catching the key and passing it to Hermione, from 1:39:01 til 1:39:12. Next cut would start from 1:39:17 til 1:39:19 so we see her trying to open the door but avoid again the horrible CGI and the we unite this bit with 1:39:21 where she opens the door and Harry comes in.
This would avoid most of the horrible acting and CGI of this challenge, but keep it for a better, fast paced, plot. Again I did this with the Vr.2.
