28 Days Later (2002) - 1080p Widescreen and Fullscreen Filmized Remasters (Widescreen released)
Time

Wow. I finally got a chance to watch the widescreen remaster of this after watching the new 28 Years Later the other day, and I can say for sure that this remaster is a MASSIVE improvement. The film actually looks like it was shot on film now, the “filmized” look suits the movie really well and the grain effect helps hide the SD quality of the source footage by making lower resolution things just look like they’re out of focus rather than pixelated. I’ve watched it on my 4K TV and it looks better than my DVD copy and Blu-ray by a long shot. The AI upscale is also very good, not over the top and only looks dodgy in a few shots with text in the background that doesn’t always look right or in the foreground that looks a bit oversharpened.

However, with some fine tuning of a few scenes this would look on par with an official remaster.

I’m looking forward to MJBenito finishing the fullscreen version as well as hopefully continuing to update it and fix the issues with the AI oversharpening text and eyes in some shots as well as making the haloing worse. Hopefully he can also redo this AI upscale in 4K and use the new 4K steelbook as the source once it’s available.

I’m not sure if he’s just not been responding to DMs, but if anyone needs a mirror to the widescreen version, just DM me.

Hi everyone, just a quick reminder that anyone wanting a link should DM me. It’s just time-consuming for me to click on each reply to this topic to create a private conversation. Thanks for your understanding.

Hi. I DM’ed you a whole back but you never responded. Could you send me a link to the full screen 1080p remaster?
