Funny story - I tried posting just that scene, as I had it on YouTube, to reddit on Mother’s Day (I hadn’t posted it to r/fanedits yet and thought that morning “hey, this would be kinda funny”) and it got deleted for “not being a fanedit” so just a heads up - trying to post it to reddit might NOT go so well. @EddieDean - Agree with your idea to re-release Sacrifice with the “F*** the Empire” line intact. My feelings on why f*** works so well are in that thread I started, but at this point, it mostly just boils down to it being what Gilroy scripted & what was shot. Keep censorship away from this jewel of show!

And since there’s no community-wide consensus on the line, giving folks both options is probably best.

Rewatched your V1 edits today. Just so grateful to you this exists. Rogue One is so problematic, Andor is so wonderful. This really lines them up so much better.

The music choices at the very closing of episodes 15 & 16 are SO good. Brittel’s themes are so evocative, heart-string-pulling & you laid them in perfectly.

I also want to back you on the post-credits thing. Vader’s hallway scene, while amazing, is now problematic. As the end of Andor’s story, I need to sit with his sacrifice for longer. Transitioning to bad-ass Vader directly after that moment is thematically jarring. Part of what makes Andor so special is that it’s in the world of Star Wars, but it’s a world AWAY from the Force, from the Skywalkers, etc… obviously we all still love those OT elements though… by splitting them apart with the credits, it really sells the transition from gritty-Andor-spy-story back to operatic-Skywalker-Force-monomyth. It’s just brilliant how you achieved that.

In terms of changes others have mentioned, these are the ones I’m most supportive of (I agree with you – too much editing would be beyond your original scope):

1. Integrate the Star Wars logo (droid/helmet thing) into the previously-on’s.

2. The Bor Gullet scene is silly AF, but watching your edit with a couple of Andor-newbies, they were both confused why Bodhi is suddenly out-of-it. Someone here mentioned the idea of keeping Saw’s iconic intro scene & when Saw says “Bor Gullet”, add subtitles that say “Torture him” (or “make him talk” etc) & only cut the actual Bor Gullet scene. I think it’s a pretty elegant fix.

3. More action/tension music throughout final Scarif battle.

4. Don’t touch that R2/3PO moment! Helps sell that this story is crashing (beautifully) into classic SW.

5. Agree with the shortened Krennic/Jyn confrontation.

6. Rebellion Suite cue (2:23) for Star Destroyer crash.

Interesting to see how split folks are about this (well the limited sample we have in this thread anyway). I’m so happy to now have scripted/filmed line. Thanks Broom Kid! I’ll be watching it this way for-f***ing-ever!

A thought for your next round of edits on this… rewatching the official 4K release… I see the opening of each episode is as follows:

-Recap
-Lucasfilm logo
-New Star Wars logo (the helmet/droid thing)
-Andor title card
-Episode begins

Your Rogue One edits skip the New Star Wars Logo. Perhaps you’ll want to reintegrate them for uniformity? I’ve come to really like those logos… gets me all amped up lol.

BTW, your recaps are great. Good info, good clips, well-edited to match the style of the Andor recaps!

Fair! I think the other reason I like the f*** line, besides what I added above, is that Andor (the show, not the individual) has been saying “fight the empire” from episode 1. Through the voices of the characters (including Maarva), the plots, the themes.

I think to really take it to the next level in the finale, to reward our time watching the season, to justify a full-blown revolt & IED explosion, we need to hear something BIG/NEW/CONTROVERSIAL. On a meta-level that is. Just my thoughts.

This is my first time creating a topic rather than just replying to one, so please forgive me if this isn’t the right way to inquire about this. I read all the rules/guidelines/FAQs and I think this is kosher.

Anyway, what the topic title says… I’m fascinated by the idea of an Andor edit that revises Maarva’s closing self-eulogy line from “FIGHT the Empire” to “FUCK the Empire”, which is what was supposedly scripted & filmed.

Seems that AI speech software is becoming more commonly used for edits around here, so figured it might be doable for some enterprising soul? I’m sure Fiona Shaw (Maarva actress) has dropped an F-bomb or two in her other projects (Killing Eve, Fleabag, True Blood, etc). If that’s even how the software works?

QUICK EDIT:
Just adding that I totally respect folks who think an F-bomb is NOT in the spirit of Star Wars. However, I love the idea of it in this case because 1) Andor already feels to me like the edgiest/real-est/nastiest version of Star Wars we’ve gotten, so it fits, and 2) the speech is building > building > BUILDING to something huge. An F-bomb in that moment would’ve been TRULY shocking. On both a STORY-level and a META-level.

And while I was here, have you given any thought to using the Deepfaked versions of the Tarkin & Leia scenes? I know they originated on YouTube & I think Hal9000 incorporated them into his Rogue One re-edit. They really do look a lot nice than what we got in 2017.

Throwing in my two cents. I agree, it definitely was originally broadcast in two parts over two weeks, though it was first scripted/sold/edited as one. You can find the original script on Google pretty easily. Never knew they did a two-hour rebroadcast later.

Here’s my breakdown of the broadcast flow vs script flow…

TWO-PART, BROADCAST FLOW:

1. Monster attacks cockpit, Kate counts to 4 >
   CUT TO COMMERCIAL
2. Kate finishes counting to 4 > Jack/Kate/Charlie see the pilot dead in tree >

Long-time Friday Night Lights fan here! I’d love to see what you’ve achieved so far & encourage you to do more (though I see I’m a couple of years late to the party).

I was aware of the separate NBC/DirecTV airings, aware of the music changes, and aware there was a shorter version of the series finale on streaming. But I had NO IDEA the episodes as they appeared on DVD/Blu-ray (how I’ve always watched) were also shorter than what aired on DirecTV!

Started skimming through these. The detail is GREAT & so happy to not have the weird desaturated/blurred flashback filter they added for the official 4Ks!

I’m not actually seeing much in the way of grain… a big sticking point of the official 4Ks was that it was scrubbed (along with fine detail). Does the lack of grain in the Dremaster suggest it wasn’t really there in the official blu-rays either?

I love Unbreakable, but those moments are so cheesy. The point has been made. I don’t need to know that the good guy saves the day … especially if it’s coming from a previously unseen narrator. Always takes me out of the movie. Which is bad considering it’s literally the last 30 seconds.

That would be the easiest fanedit ever made actually.
