Just popped in for my bi-annual post of encouragement for anyone who wants to help move this forward.
Just popped in for my bi-annual post of encouragement for anyone who wants to help move this forward.
Hey y’all. If anyone is still working on this, I’m rooting for ya! Wish I had the skills myself to help out.
I may have missed the boat here, but if anyone has a link or can make this available again, it’d be much appreciated. Thanks!
I’m still watching with eager interest. Sadly I lack the skills or resources to assist in the technical implementation, but I’m here to offer encouragement - hopefully without being too pushy.
Keeping my fingers crossed that these sources all come together nicely for you.

I really hope someone involved can afford that. Fingers crossed…

So where is this going to be uploaded to?
Good question. I'm willing to upload it to pretty much anywhere as long as D_J gives the go-ahead.
Great. :)
I may need help getting on to any such site if signups are closed. But I'll cross that bridge when I come to it.
So where is this going to be uploaded to?
Seconded! Thanks so much for all the effort you're putting in here. :)
As I understand it, TripleBHBK doesn't have a special version, but rather was initially mistaken in what he was looking out for - once he realised we were talking about footage having been removed in its entirety he realised it was the same as everyone else's. He had initially been looking for visual censoring and not found any.
I can't begin to tell you how excited I'd have been if he did indeed have an uncut version in digital form... :/
Agreed, it's utterly ridiculous to have cut it like that. It feels awkward to have such a sudden jump from a [shortened] view of the house to a [shortened] view of Lewis saying he's found a house. I'd imagine it would have felt a little rushed even to someone who'd never seen the proper scene.
And after two different DVDs and the box set, I won't be buying any further releases of this until the cut footage is restored. Which may mean never.
Is that video the one that had the green banner across the case instead of orange? If so, Amazon UK still has 2 copies of it up for sale. Unless they recalled then reissued it, in which case I guess this isn't it.

Oh my god, I've just seen how old this thread is! Sorry!!!
That (The Wild Life) seems like a good way of getting it out there, given the retention of most Usenet servers these days. I wonder why the other releases aren't similarly available...
I can answer the question about PAL releases - I bought the UK edition and it has the same cut. The BBFC website states (or used to) that the film was resubmitted to them in a new, shorter form, but that those edits were not mandated by the BBFC themselves and had already been made prior to submission.
Can I add myself to the "Me too" list please? Thanks!!
Ditto for me. I've just joined today after following a link from another forum. I'm after this and Fright Night 2, and will be watching keenly to see what other projects Team Blu take on.
I'm very keen to get a hold of this, as I haven't seen it for what seems like an eternity. Have sent DJ a friend request so hopefully can send PMs in the future.
Sorry this isn't a 'helpful' reply, but I would absolutely LOVE to get a version of this film without that cut, and I wish you the very best of luck in making it happen. It's because of this that I still haven't thrown away my VHS copy.
From what I understand, the scene was cut due to rules about phone numbers in films. Fine, cut the American release then. But why was every other release also cut? I'm pretty sure those rules aren't global.
