Except that it may draw unwelcome attention to the site.  Maybe better to fly under the radar?

Very true. maybe if the petition were to come from a site (maybe a new one) not at all affiliated with OT.com. That way, if/when it falls on deaf ears, the many, many projects here will still have a safe place to live.

I think the biggest problem is this: it's really only the die-hard fans like ourselves who really notice or care about the changes over and over in the films. I doubt there is enough money to be made in releasing the Holy Trilogy to warrant the work involved, and of course it's all going to come down to money.

Help: looking for... Prequel Preservations...

First of all, I wanna say I don't know much about the difference between the theatrical version and the DVD, HDTV etc. It's just that when I saw this thread I remembered a couple very old discs I had, which I managed to dig up, and it's 2 Video-CD's of TPM shot with a camera in a cinema.

When checking the properties of the video files, the creation date of part 2 is May 22, 1999. That's probably around the time when I got those discs.

I don't know if they're interesting to anyone since it's low resolution and all that, but here are some screens:

Personally, I'm ready to throw this in the trash but if some completionist out there wants it, I could put it on myspleen or something.

Wow, those pictures bring back memories. I'd love to get a copy of it for the hell of it. Please PM me, and maybe we can set something up.

1997 SE - Five Star Collection - any interest in a Preservation? (Released)

If people want these versions, mine still work flawlessly.  I could up them to myspleen.

Krycek87 -- If you want to upload them, that would be great. Mine are ripped but I won't be able to start them seeding until Friday, plus my bandwidth kinda sucks. If you aren't able to upload them or just don't get around to it before Friday, I'll start them then.

Info Wanted: I've been out of the Fan Restoration scene since around 2005, have a few questions for anyone who can help, + a request for 1997 Special Edition preservations...

DJ did a '97 SE set, and sent out some discs to beta testers (such as me and a few others) for preview purposes.

They look good and all, but they have worse smearing than the GOUT/'93 laserdisc master.  Because of this, I believe DJ decided not to publicly release them, which is a shame, even if the quality wasn't as good as everyone hoped it would be.

Beyond that I'm not entirely sure.

Yes, I read about that. The reason I want them is because I want my kids to experience Star Wars the way I did. My first copies were taped from TV, then I got the Faces P&S VHS. I saw the Special Editions in the theaters, bought the VHS of those, then the prequels, then the 2004 Special Special Editions, etc. I want them to be able to see the progression and, IMO, the degradation, of the Holy Trilogy.

So, I’ve been out of this scene since about the time of the TR47/Cowclops v2 releases. I recently downloaded dark_jedi’s V3 DVD Trilogy and I was blown away. It seems as though his V3 (and eventually his Blu-Ray) version is one of the best in regards to the original, uncut Holy Trilogy.

Strange as it may sound (and because I’m an OCD completist), I was wondering if I could get some opinions on what is the best way to get the 1997 Special Editions (before they were further changed in 2004). I have a set of dual-layer DVDs I bought on eBay years ago that are straight rips from the SE LaserDiscs. The quality isn’t horrible, but I’m hoping one the the remastering experts here has produced a good quality set. Does anyone have any information on this? Thanks in advance for all the help.

PS – I’m not looking for the de-Special Editon’d set, but the trilogy as it was in 1997. Thanks.

Star Wars OT & 1997 Special Edition - Various Projects Info (Released)

Dark Jedi,

First off, I wanted to let you know that I'm using your V3 releases to introduce my son to Star Wars. After he is familiar with them, I'll introduce him to each set of bastardizations--I mean, changes.

I love the choices for audio tracks, and I was wondering if you ever plan on including the commentaries from the 1993 LD set like Editdroid did back in the day with his DVDs. I think it is the only thing missing from a great collection. Thanks for giving us such a great way to remember the Holy Trilogy the way it is meant to be.
