Amadeus - Laserdisc+DVD Audio Tracks for 4K (formerly Theatrical Cut Restoration)
Time

Pathetic. There’s literally a physical release of the Theatrical Cut on 4K disc being released this February and you worthless knuckleheads are griping about not having a fan preservation to support anymore?
Fine, don’t support physical media anymore, it’s exactly fucking how you got in this situation in the first place…
Thread needs to be locked.

About fucking time this project can be over!

All needs to happen if this isn’t on Blu-ray disc, just downscale to 1080p, no need for shitty AI upscaling or whatever this project tried.

‘About fucking time this project is over … whatever this project is!’

Thanks?

You’re not welcome and stop wasting your time with this project.
If this 4K physical release doesn’t include the original cinematic audio, all you have to do is downscale from 4K to 1080p without use of shitty AI upscaling, an encode or remux, and add the audio track as PCM or FLAC from the Laserdisc. That would be your V4!
I’d rather have a 4K remux from the physical disc with the Laserdisc audio as LPCM as an included track anyway, not some 1080p only bollocks.

The Outsiders (1983) Servanov Theatrical HD Reconstruction (Released)

Funny how just two years ago the theatrical cut finally got its first HD physical release with the 4K remaster, even has the original Saul Bass logo for both cuts

I guess the only thing that would still be worthy of this version is it does have the original stereo mix, since the 4K only has a 5.1 track (not that it’s really revisionist to begin with, it appears to just be a remixed version of the stereo track)

Would be easy to make a remux from the 4K disc and just use the Laserdisc stereo track to sync to it as an audio option.

The 4K Blu Ray will be released soon in February 2025.

Where is this information from? If it’s from The Digital Bits, Bill Hunt is a shite-arse.

All over the place but most importantly:

Well, well, well, look here, too!

About damn time!

Glad the upscale will be no longer needed.

28 Days Later (2002) - 1080p Widescreen and Fullscreen Filmized Remasters (Widescreen released)

I know most people already seem to know this, but what was the release aspect ratio? Apparently, we have what in the old days we would call an “open matte” which is roughly a 4 x 3 or 1.33 ~ 1.35 to 1. I also see a widescreen listed which appears to be 16x9 basically 1.78 to 1. Was the film released theatrically in 1.85 to 1? Just curious.

BTW, your work looks great! I would love to get hold of this!

Old days regarding the terminology Open Matte? It’s still used today…

The Terminator (1984) 4K Filmized Remaster

Amazing how the 4K disc manages to have less fine detail than the Blu-ray—and this is considered one of the better Cameron 4K discs.

I appreciate fan projects that use AI (tastefully) to squeeze the most out of an SD or HD source while remaining faithful to the original film, especially with the excellent results your projects have demonstrated, but selling a decade-old, AI-upscaled 2K master as 4K is fraud.

All these Cameron films are big-budget blockbusters and certainly justify new 4K masters. I know he’d still tinker with them because he wants all his movies to look like Avatar, but at least he’d be starting with a high-quality source.

Agreed.
Be nice if there were a newer 4K 35mm film scan available. Too reluctant to get the 4K UHD because of the very lazy AI upscale, really wished it were a flat out 4K film scan and restoration. But, hey, it has the original mono as lossless!
Have been refusing to buy the 4K for T2: Judgment Day since it looks atrocious, hesitant on getting ALIENS, THE ABYSS, and TRUE LIES.

Info: Recommended Editions of Disney Animated (and Partially Animated) Features
Time

Which pages in this thread breakdown the bonus features? I’m also interested in those, too. Especially if certain disc releases had a bonus feature which wasn’t carried over to other releases later on down the line, as the first post explains. i.e. the different editions. More for the Disney animated Golden Age aka Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, etc. DVDCompare.net is helpful but it might take too long to figure out the differences.
Thanks!

Robocop - Director's Cut 1080p restoration (Released)

How can I find this release? 😮
The remaster has definitely changed the color grading and a lot of blue skies were changed to white or gray.
I’d at least like to have this for preservation.

Silly me I bought that MGM blu ray and it’s soo blurry. lol
I got the unreleased, censored Sony blu ray for now.

Why not get the ARROW 4K or Blu-ray disc release?
I’ve been keeping the rest of the RoboCop releases I own since many of the bonus features aren’t carried over to the Limited Edition 4K set released by Arrow. The Criterion LD/DVD and MGM 2-disc DVD has a smattering of bonus features which are exclusive.
Would like to know if anyone preserved the PCM or whichever track that’s on the Criterion LD. Not as FLAC, but raw and synced to the ARROW 4K/BD Director’s Cut disc.
This doesn’t need a fan preservation unless if it’s the 1.66:1 aspect ratio which was presented on the Criterion LD/DVD, which seems to be a one-off presentation. At least from my bare knowledge about it.

I too have the Australian blu. Wouldn’t mind the US Theatrical cut in HD.

I found this 10GB version on myspleen

Conan.the.Barbarian.1982.Theatrical.Cut.1080p.AMZN.WEB-DL.DDP2.0.H.264-ETHiCS.mkv.torrent

Hello
Thank you for the info. I can’t access myspleen. If you have any way of uploading the
Conan.the.Barbarian.1982.Theatrical.Cut.1080p.AMZN.WEB-DL.DDP2.0.H.264-ETHiCS.mkv
that would be amazing! Maybe with wetransfer?
Please let me know.
Thanks a million.
F.

Why would you even need this mkv file? The Arrow Video Blu-ray disc and 4K UHD disc release has ALL three main cuts of Conan the Barbarian available via seamless branching. Includes the US Theatrical Cut in original mono that’s lossless audio!

All Things Star Trek
Time

FINALLY have gotten around to getting DEEP SPACE NINE on DVD! It’s the Season 1-3 bundle that’s those 24-disc cases, got it for not very much money from HamiltonBook. Then undecided which iteration of the individual remeaining seasons I should buy. Original release/digipak or the regular Amaray/Viva Elite cases? Heavily prefer the graphic design for the digipaks.
STAR TREK VOYAGER I’m guessing I should go for the complete series 24-disc two cases release. All that remains from my STAR TREK collection, TOS-ENT era, is TAS and TOS Gene Roddenberry Vault on Blu-ray disc.
Have been slowly rewatching TNG on the beautiful remastered Blu-ray discs. At season 3 right now. Originally watched when first broadcast, had the VHS and DVDs.
Haven’t bothered watching Discovery, Strange New Worlds I’m in the middle of watching season 1 but trailed off with other shows to watch will get back to watching it, been meaning to watch Picard, and apathetic towards Lower Decks.
The Orville I’ve only watched the first 5 episodes but have been meaning to watch the rest of it.
