Harmy's STAR WARS Despecialized Edition HD - V2.7 - MKV (Released)
Time

Watched 2.0 of Harmy's star wars IV despescialized recently and I have to say it looks great, it's great to finally have the original version in pristine hd-quality. Great work! Thanks alot, Harmy!

The only mistake that I saw was when Obi Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader were duelling with their lightsabers. Some green flashes popped up between the swords that don't seem to belong there.

Wow, I love your despecialized mkv-version of Star Wars IV. Awesome picture-quality, and Han Solo shoots first and only and no added CGI, no Jabba appearing, planet and death star explodes like in the original, lightsabers have the right colour and glow... simply awesome restauration, Harmy!

There are not enough thank you's for this!

It looks like you can't download from ulozto as a free user anymore :-(

Well it says "server overload" so it will probably work later but yeah, uloz.to is getting shittier an shittier. I think I'll look into setting up a torrent for the release of the final version. I can do that now that I'm at home for the holiday but I may need some help :-)

Please use rapidshare, netload or filefactory for the final version.

Thanks.

Idea & Suggestion: Making fan edits of Buffy seasons 4-7.
Time

I don’t have the equipment nor skills to do any fanedits, but I would like to suggest to you who can to make a project of Buffy season 4-7.

For me and many Buffy-fans Buffy started getting worse with season 4, losing some of the wit, passion and direction of season 1-3.

Maybe these later seasons can be saved through clever editing to reduce some of the cringe-worthy scenes and to put focus on the important scenes and to simply better edit them. Maybe it’s even necessary to cut out whole episodes if they can’t be saved through editing and yet make a season work and whole without them (ie. removing references to them in later episodes).

Maybe there’s a big Buffy-fan here with the necessary skills and passion to try such a fan-edit-project. If pulled off with grace and skill it could be a big hit with the big Buffy-fan-community.

Imho the colors of the lightswords should be consistent throughout the whole movie. If Vader's lightsword usually looks like in the top screen then that's how it should look in the whole movie, as anything else is merely a production-mistake which shouldn't be preserved.

I don't think that the lasersword's color changes with the mood or with the opponent fighting with.

Aalenfae's PREQUEL TRILOGY (Heavily delayed - computer exploded)

Even so, it's a problem. Just a forced harmonization, I think. The only way to really make it effective would be to have Padme live long enough to spend time with Leia before she dies. Killed would be more dramatic.

BUT! This is a change that's impossible with the source material, so I think it will have to remain an inconsistancy.

I looked up the specific quote from Return of the Jedi, and it seems like I was wrong as Luke asks something like "Do you remember your mom, your real mum?"

After which Leia thinks hard and then says yes...

So it's a mistake in the prequel to have let Padme die during the birth.

Get used to uloz.to, it is one of the last filesharing services that still work well even for free (they didn't delete any of my older stuff I upped there and upload's pretty fast and free download speed is OK and they have fairly cheap pay for DL) so I'll probably be using it for sharing the final film.

I hope you reconsider it for the final film. Please upload the final v2.0 on rapidshare, netload or filefactory. That way a lot more people can download it and enjoy your work.

lucas really screwed up in making rots.it's like he totally forgot about rotj where leia talks about her mother.saying how she noticed she was really beautiful but also very sad.a newborn baby would have no memory of this.so lucas really screwed up there having given the babies away before padme even had em for at least a year.if there is anyways to correct this in either of these movies, that would make it more believable.instead of padme dying through childbirth, why couldn't she die being tortured by the emperor?the emperor trying to get her to tell him where her baby is.since he didn't know she had 2.oh well like i said lucas didn't think this through at all.

No, you are wrong: Leia remembering her mom's beauty and Padme dying during birth of Leia and Luke is not a contradiction. After all Leia never knew that she was adopted, so what she remembers as her mum wasn't Padme but her fostermother...

The Fall of the Jedi Trilogy (Released)
Time

To get rid of continuity-breaks and surprises being spoilt by seeing the prequels before the original trilogy, not only would the name Skywalker have to be get rid of as well as the name Vader and his contruction-scene, as well as the sight of the pregnant Padme... but also every picture where Yoda is being seen as a Jedi.

I think all this would take too much out of the movies and it would be better to just watch the original trilogy first and then the prequels (of course in the form of a good fanedit).

It's had to believe that V 2.0 has been in the works for a year now.

It's the old 80% vs 100% dilemma. if you have 80% right and you want to go for 100%, the remaining 20% take more time than the preceding 80%.

That and he got a job which distracted him.

But now he is on it again and promised a summer-release, so a bit patience and all will pay off eventually.

Thanks alot to Harmy for restoring the original versions in HD, it's much appreciated.

Episode II: The Republic Divided - by L8wrtr (Released)
Time

Since there is no thread for your fanedit of Star wars III "Dawn of the empire", I hope you don't mind if I review it here:

Imho "Dawn of the empire" is your best fan-edit, because you manage to edit it in such a way that it isn't obvious that it is a fan-edit, there are no scenes that seem abruptly short like with the arena-fight-scene in part II or with the visit in the underwater realm in part I.

You retell the story of Anakin Skywalker falling to the dark side it in a much more exciting and dramatic way than George Lucas did.

Ok, the movie itself is better than the first two outings, but still you add so much tension and better structure that it is a phenomenal success.

There are of course still things that I don't like, but these you can't change cause Lucas filmed it in that way: The CGI-landscapes and actors walking, running, fighting in them. They look fake and videogamish, and I didn't like them in the second part when Anakin was riding through the desert either or the look in the arena. In the original trilogy CGI didn't exist and it was for the better, the crew had to film in real locations and it showed. Unfortunately this can't be changed anymore.

The pacing, the structure is in this third part of your fanedits just perfect. You clearly got better from part to part and now reached your masterwork.

If there was one scene I would have completely cut, it would be the fight between Yoda and the sith lord. It served no purpose, was redundant and didn't look well as the setting was awful. You did well when you removed the swordfighting of Yoda in Episode II, but here the complete fight should have been cut.

It was already enough that Windu fought against him, and that fight had a purpose, namely to force Anakin to choose side, but this Yoda-fight had no purpose.

And I don't know if this was your intention or not, it's not possible for those who never watched Star Wars to watch the prequels first and then the original trilogy. The whole story of Anakin Skywalker is a major spoiler for the best surprise in the original trilogy.

For that to work out, all mentioning of the name Skywalker and the pregnancy of Padme would have to be removed.

Movie: 7.5/ 10, Your fanedit turns it into a 9.0/10.

Thanks for your hard work on this edit.

Episode II: The Republic Divided - by L8wrtr (Released)
Time

Booshman's superman returns fanedit was the first fan-edit I had the pleasure to watch, and then I stumbled upon your fanedits of Star wars I-III.

Eventhough I haven't seen any other fanedits, I'll try and give a short review of your fanedit of Star wars II:

I never liked the Star wars prequels, because they are too crowded with scenes and dialogue and story that it all seems dense and rushed. The original trilogy succeeded because it had a focused story of the rebellion to tell with a limited number of protagonists.

That allowed these movies to breath and its characters to develop roots and the magic could materialise. We followed a young Skywalker to the stars and becoming a Jedi.

Lucas tried something similar with Anakin but it didn't really pay off because the focus was lost with the myriad of things happening and because he started with a child, having to change the actor for the next installments.

With your fanedits you obviously tried to bring some focus to the new trilogy by trimming all the unnecessary dialogue, characters and scenes and to try to make it an Anakin-story.

In this you greatly succeeded, although Star wars I was a bit too short and rushed in your edit, it still was superior. As an edit star wars II is imho even better, although the underlining movie was worse.

You improved the love-story, and that's really what the second part is about.

I would have cut the fire-scene as well as it makes it look like they would have intercourse which would not fit well with later scenes.

Some criticize the dialogue before the arena, that Padme's love-confession feels cheesy. I disagree and think that dialogue was important and fitting as Padme thought that they would die in that arena and wanted to make sure that Anakin knows that she loves him.

In the arena I felt the fight against these monsters was too short and inconclusive in your edit, Anakin gets that animal to ride on and the others jump on and that's it.

With the exception of that everything else seemed spot-on, even your decision to minimise the slaughter of these sand-people by removing certain scenes like Yoda's vision. That way Anakin's tilt towards the dark side is not yet conclusive, although it removed a memorable acting-moment.

The movie was the weakest of the new three and so no fanedit can save this movie fully but your attempt probably did the best possible.

Original movie: 6/10 Your edit turns it into a 7.5/10.

Thank you very much for your edit.
