Help Wanted: Halloween 5 35mm Open-Matte Preservation
Time

This one seems to have been dormant for a bit, unfortunately. I don’t think the necessary funds were raised, so unsure if it was scanned.

Halloween 5 may not be a franchise favorite, but, in my dreams, we’d be able to scan all the classic franchise slasher films in open matte, no less:

  • Friday the 13th
  • Friday the 13th: Part 2
  • Nightmare on Elm Street (which desperately needs a 4k version)
  • Nightmare on Elm Street 3
  • Halloween 4

Anyone particularly interested in a title above, PM me and I’ll see if I can find a lead.

I’m still accepting funds for this. A shame things have died down.

I’d love to help with this project! I work in film restoration for a company in London called R3store Studios, unfortunately the company itself can’t get involved with this but I’d love to offer up my services on the side if you need any restoration work done and possible colour correction. Let me know.

In terms of restoration, it’s just a few lines. I might have to see your work to know how good it is. If it’s good, then I’ll consider it.

So a few months back, I came across a 35mm theater print of Halloween 5. Interestingly, this particular print was in Open-Matte, so I had to buy it. As of right now, I’m still waiting for the package to arrive, but once it does, I’ll have the whole film scanned at full 4K resolution, uncropped with original theatrical sound mix included. This will be expensive, though, so if anyone’s willing to chip in, I’m very open. I just need to create a Patreon page for this project. I’m probably going to need $1,575.72. I’ll let you know when I start the page.

UPDATE: Turns out I’m gonna need around 500 dollars in order to do the scan.

UPDATE(11/15/2021): Just set up a paypal.me account

Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, Extended Edition (Released)
Time

This is a V2 of my Extended Edition of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. The following scenes are reintegrated into the movie:

-A Stirring in the Senate (Bail’s Office)
-Seeds of Rebellion (Padme’s Apartment)
-Confronting the Chancellor (Palpatine’s Office)
-Yoda’s communion with Qui-Gon (using audio from the Clone Wars courtesy of Hal9000)
-Exiled to Dagobah

I didn’t want to reinsert any scenes that had unfinished effects or repeated dialogue that already appears in the film, so the following scenes are NOT included:

-Grevious Slaughters a Jedi: Escape from the General
-A Plot to Destroy the Jedi?
-any Blu-Ray deleted scenes

Here are the changes from V1:
-The deleted scene in Bail’s Office is moved up by one scene and features new “sunset” color correction to better blend with the surrounding scenes (courtesy of Hal9000)
-The deleted scene in Palpatine’s Office is moved until after Obi-Wan touches down on Utapau, allowing for a less jarring transition.
-There is only a single audio track in this version. Yoda’s communion with Qui-Gon is included but I kept the original Vader scream since this is an Extended Edition and not a fanfix.
-Yoda’s exile to Dagobah is moved up by one scene, before Padme’s funeral. This allows for the original ending and it’s music to play out uninterrupted. (transition courtesy of Siliconmaster482)
