Yep, PJ is certainly "coloring" his films. He's even pre-coloring make-up for processing compensation in The Hobbit movies (note the make-up applier's own skin for comparison):

The Red-brand digital cameras now are legitimately a part of it. "Red camera tends to eat color a little so we add more color", said a TH:AUJ production designer in an official blog video about 3D filming. But, if the picture is red-reduced for a general shift towards teal (requiring red make-up pre-emphasis for better flesh-tones after red reduction), then that indicates a deliberate teal-tint agenda going on here.

Good thing we're around to fix it!

Yes, i saw the official blog video that had that bit as well months before the release of the film in the cinema but I really discovered this for myself when I started regrading this film. It made removing the teal tint a real pain in the arse.

When i removed the teal and got the whites in the clouds looking just right to my eyes, the red makeup that the dwarves were wearing really stood out, especially balin's makeup.

In the end I had to compromise and make the overall colours slightly colder than I really wanted by reducing the reds so that all the dwarves wouldn't look like they were suffering from severe sunburn throughout the whole film.

Which program do you use for your re-grading? is it possible to draw/track masks for the faces like in Davinci Resolve? Maybe that would ease up the grading although of course being tedious work, but it doesn't limit your choice of environment recoloring...

You prabably know that. I'm just interested in your workflow with a BluRay as a source material.

Oh and your STAr WARS regrade thread is very interesting. Keep up the good work!

Krieg der Sterne - Despecialized Edition 2.7 (German) (Released)
Time

I just wanted to say THANK YOU! from the bottom of my heart.

This will make it possible for me to see the version which was released in my homecountry when I wasn't even born - something I longed for my entire Life. The only "Original" STAR WARS Version I saw as a kid was a 30 minute shortcut of TESB in German e.g. "Das Imperium schlägt zurück". On special occasions my father and I used to watch movies on his super8 film projector, and he happened to own this short film - A little STAR WARS Fan was born the first day I was allowed to watch it with him. I will never forget that. For many years this was the only part and version of the original movies I knew. When the new episodes came TPM etc. I was not allowed to watch it. But the second and third one I went to the cinema. I always felt like "meh... seems too much cgi for my taste... and Hayden Christensens acting seems a little stiff...but hey it's STAR WARS, and I liked the movies a lot." I can't remember axactly when I was able to watch the "originals" I think it was the Year of the DVD-Release of 2004. In that time I still thought Wow, now I know them all". Boy was I irritated by the CGI-Stuff in thise old movies, I had a bad feeling about this... (see what I did there?)

And when I found a thread about the Greedo-scene, I started reading and reading and reading. I couldn't believe my eyes how much Lucas had changed over the years.

I found Adywan's projects and the fanedit community, including all the other edits of the new trilogy etc.

I found info about the limited Edition DVDs and got ma Hands on them. And I was of course quite disappointed by the image quality of the GOUT - But that was the first time I saw the real STAR WARS movies.

When I found out about Harmy's Despecialized Edition v.2.0 , boy that was a good day haha. I was blown away by the quality. I was moved by how much work he and everybody else here on this forum put into their own projects.

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!

So here we are several years later, and finally I'm looking forward to be able to see the long version of my first STAR WARS experience in the near future.

Until then the original english versions (and the beginning of "Krieg der Sterne" thanks to Laserschwert) will fill this gap.

Regards from Germany, and may the force be with you all!
