Interested to check this out!
There are some shots in the 4K remastered blu-ray where the DNR resulted in strange effects, e.g. the smearing of detail on some characters faces resulting in them having a plastic appearance in certain frames. There is also a shot from Return of the King of Gandalf and Pippin walking in the Courtyard of the White Tree outside Denethor’s hall, and you can visibly see that the DNR causes the top of Gandalf’s staff to disappear from the image entirely.
These videos on YouTube do a good job of analyzing the DNR problems with the 4K remasters:

It’s cool to hear that your 4K HDR remasters are mixing the grain structure of the 2011 bluray to the 4k HDR disc. I’m interested to see if this will alleviate some of the smearing of faces mentioned, or if it would be better to replace those shots with alternate sources. The same goes for shots like the one where the detail of Gandalf’s staff is erased by the DNR.
Thanks for your work on this!
