STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

You mean the real name that Ady himself put in the credits on his fan edit? Okay, you got it.

Regarding the podcast, I've never actually heard of it as I don't bother with fanboy stuff on either side of the fence these days, so while we must have expressed similar sentiments, it's purely coincidental. My thoughts are my own.

I do apologise for anything I expressed with a bad attitude, offence wasn't the intention, but I certainly don't apologise for daring to express criticism of Adywan or fanboys who are wasting years of their lives in awe of someone who is, at the end of the day, nothing more than a fan editor tinkering with movies and receiving far more credit than is due. I remember members, like Angel, who were incredibly talented artists, who suffered the wrath of the mob for daring to criticise.

I'm not the first to say such things, and I doubt I'll be the last.

Taking our money?! It's our choice if we wish to donate to Adywan's cause as we know it's going to be something worthwhile, and the wait matters not - as he does have a life! It's his choice what he does so respect that at least! Seems to me like you let those clown podcasters at MakingStarWars.net decide your latest post jeez!

I don't know those podcasters. I'm very capable of formulating my own opinions about things, rather than relying on pack mentality like some of you.

What's really interesting is that I know from previous experience than quite a few members of these boards share some of my feelings on this, but prefer not to incur the wrath of the short-sighted. That's understandable. It doesn't matter, I'm not afraid to call it for what it is.

How many times do we need to reiterate the difference between Lucas' changes and suppression of the original versions and fan projects that present mere unofficial alternatives?

Hey, I couldn't agree more about Lucas' suppression of the original versions. It's offensive in its disregard of the fans that made Star Wars what it is. 100% with you on that.

But as for the changes he made or ********* has made or anyone else has in their own fan edits, one is no worse than the other. Not all the changes in the SE are for the worse, and not all Ady's changes are better. Just wondering about the lack of balance in some of the praise for his work and the absurd tip-toeing around him when people want to post a criticism of one of his updates. He's just a guy who learned some skills who's meddling with a movie for his own satisfaction. That's all.

And let's face it, who the fuck ever thought The Empire Strikes Back needed fixing? There's nothing wrong with it, unless of course you have OCD and can't bear to see a minor continuity error or two. How did this movie ever survive?

So, yeah, Lucas went about it the wrong way, but Ady has put some crap out there as well. Dual of the Fates in A New Hope. A screen full of TIE fighters that, while technically excellent, demonstrates his inability to compose a balanced image within the frame, etc.

It's been six years so far, and this is the movie that most people agree has the least wrong with it. Gonna be waiting till 2030 till he finishes ROTJ:R are you? Stop kissing his ass, learn some self respect, go out and discover girls or boys, or better still, actually learn these skills for yourself and apply them in a constructive way. I know, I know, you have lives. I'm sure some of you do, but if your response is to attack me just for daring to speak my mind about the culture around Ady's fan edits, then I disregard your criticism. If you have sound arguments why I'm wrong, you have my ear and my complete respect.

Merry Christmas

Is this still not finished? Man, I hate to think how many hours of your lives you've wasted waiting for ****** to throw you his scraps over the last SIX YEARS. I came back after a long time away to see if this ever got finished, but it's ridiculous. Episode VIII will be out before this is finished!

Any credibility that started with the intention to colour correct or "de-Specialise" these films was lost the minute he started adding bits of his own. You know, the way Mr Lucas did and pissed off millions of fans. You can't criticise Lucas but not Adywan, because although the former certainly offended many fans with his tampering, Adywan has made some lousy changes as well.

********, give it up man, you should be applying your new talents to earning yourself some serious money, rather than taking money from other people to finish what is, let's face it, a totally personal project. You've clearly learned some great skills, and I hope once you're done with TESB:R that you'll forget the rest and get yourself a job in the industry.

..since these BD's are essentially the dvd masters.

Now that's simply not true, is it. The masters used on the blu-rays are not SD masters, and even if HD masters had been used for the DVD release previously, the results are noticeably better on blu-ray.

Dude, you know theres a story being told during this film right? Its right in the foreground, more or less right in front of all those tiny little lights in the background. If you squint real hard you can just make it out...

That's pretty funny, however it was intended...

Being sucked into the side is more realistic to me in many ways, but I wish it were visually more apparent now.

I have no idea why people think this. It's patently obvious that he gets sucked towards the side when he's falling. The sequence, aside from the flipped shot which Ady is fixing, is shot perfectly clear and makes total sense the way it is. There is one shot from above seeing Luke falling away, then we cut below to him falling towards us, then there is the clear shot of him being pulled towards the far wall and into the vent. It is as visually apparent as it can be.

Are you guys American? I don't think an English person would be wondering how it's pronounced, unless Ady did in fact intend it to sound like an American pronunciation of "80". Ady is diminutive for Adrian in the UK and elsewhere, with Wan added to make it a Jedi name; as far I can tell it's as simple as that.

For a company like Lucasfilm and its affiliates, yes, it is staggering. And if you read what I posted, I was expressing my surprise at people picking up on what I perceive as irrelevant, as a viewer. Commenting on the work of people who actually work on this stuff for a living is totally separate, as you well know.

I'm in this for the little things. I can't unsee continuity errors, this kind of thing is exactly why I'm helping out with this project.

Lucas never focused on the little things in the SE, of course, he ignores the bigger things too, just makes changes no one asked for. ;-)

Okay that's cool. I do totally agree with you on that, once you've noticed an error you can't unsee it. I remember when I noticed the error in Jurassic Park about the terrain during the first T-Rex attack I just can't watch that scene without it being spoiled.

As for Lucas, while I do still have great affinity for him because he created Star Wars, you're right about that. I don't get this drip-drip tinkering thing he's doing at all. Either change everything that bothers you, or don't change anything.

Sorry for my anal comment, then, I get it if once you've seen it you can't forget it. ;-)

Whichever track it was, I get why he wanted to tie it together, but musically it doesn't fit with the rest of the score in A New Hope. It's stylistically completely different, which is why I and some others don't like it. The intention is sound, but I think it's the prequels that need adapting to match the OT, not the reverse, and if you really have to do it, it has to match.

It's astonishing to me how people hear things differently.

Honestly to my ears it sounds like a feminine voice (at least making a stab at) speaking in an American accent.

Why would Lawson deliberately do that for one line?

We know that for ROTJ they dubbed an actress with a male voice, it's possible that Lawson wasn't available to re-do that one line.

Seeing as it's a minority thing it's probably time to drop the topic here but I thought I'd bring it up as it may have been of interest.

While I never thought it was Leia, I did always notice how that line doesn't sound right. It is softly spoken and a bit effeminate, and I never liked it. No idea why it's like that, though. *shrugs*

By the way, an actress in Jedi dubbed by a man? I'm very tired as I write this, so am I forgetting something really obvious?

I think he was talking about Mr. Ghostface.

Yeah he was talking about me and as usual it was an overreaction. I was pointing out that there seems to be a lack of balance from some fans, as if everything Lucas changed in the SEs was disastrous and everything Adywan has done was amazing. That's the way a lot of fans seem to think, and it's silly. I think some of what Lucas did in the SEs is utter crap, like Jabba, Greedo shooting first etc, but there are some awesome things like the Falcon lifting out of Docking Bay 94, some of the X-wing shots in the battle, just as some of the things Ady did are cool and some are crap. It's all about opinion, we all have one, but like I said it's the lack of balance that I was objecting to, nothing more. And let's face it, some people go on as if Adywan invented Star Wars, when in fact about 98% of what's in ANH:Revisited is what Lucas shot. Just throwing that out there.

The suffix 'ling' means young or small so a Youngling is a "young young" or a "little little".

It's a daft as calling a woman a Femaletrix.

Hehe it's up there with He-Man. I never did quite get that name.

"I simply explained that this was a powerful figure that could be taken anywhere and dropped into any context because he had a generic name: He-Man!"

Righto. Pretty lame, but hey, at least that Filmation animation was top notch. Ahem.

Maybe it's different for different people. Before it dawned on everyone that the SEs were going to be Lucas's favoured versions they were still objected to purely on the grounds of "meddling". So I don't think it's just the subsequent "deletion" of the original versions, it's people objecting to the simple act of changing things. Somehow fan editors seem to be immune to that sort of criticism. Don't think for a sec that I'm approving of Lucas's tinkering, but I think in general there's a lack of balance here.
