No, only BD-RE (Blu-ray Disc Recordable Erasable) discs can be erased and re-recorded. Your shop-bought Blu-rays will be on pressed discs.

Updated the first post. According to Star Wars Year By Year the tractor beam line was first included in the July 1978 theatrical re-release.

I was looking for The Starkiller’s Guide to The Star Wars Mono Sound Mix that Russ had hosted there, it’s available on the Wayback Machine but with no audio samples.
